Technical Support / How to make the game remember last difficulty played on

I swear this used to be the case. If you last played on Legendary it would auto select legendary. As it is in every other aRPG I can think of. Why does it default to normal every time? Can this be changed? With a mod? Is it a bug? Is there a fix?
