Is there a way in the viewer to equip characters animations with weapons or armor?

After a lot of digging...it looks like this is exactly the point of the "attach entity" part of the attachment points menu. However, I still dont know how it works. I think it has something to do with loading the dbr into the art manager, but I'm new to all of this and so I'm quite lost.
