You can also take a look at the TQ Database. It shows the stat requirements for items. For example I have seen armor with 647 strength requirement or 550 intelligence.

I'm not playing with xmax, I only use LootPlus and I have found many different purple items on epic, even in act 1, by just playing, not farming. The drop rates in act 1 aren't good at first, because monsters are low level, but it gets better and majestic chests are a good source too. I even found some purples in bone piles.

I don't use loot databases, but if you're looking for info on a specific monster, you can look it up in the Titan Quest Wiki.

For better loot chances I recommend Loot Plus, so you don't have to farm so much.

As far as I know, when a monster is spawned, the game decides what items it gets, depending on the configured loot lists of the creature and the chances to equip something from these loot lists. This applies to all types of items. Therefore you can even see, if a monster is wearing something special, if the item has a unique appearance.

MIs are restricted to certain monsters. Take the famous Stonebinder Cuffs for example. They are only in the loot lists of gorgon special archers, namely pyromancers, venomancers, the gorgon heroes Cenobia and Iolanthe and the three gorgon queens in the Pythian Caves.

The higher the level of your opponents, the more powerful the items get. Weapons do more damage, armor is stronger and magical properties get stronger too. This also increases the requirements. But you can get more powerful stuff sometimes, that you can't even use yet. For example I found jewelry at some single digit level, which had a minimum level requirement of 15 or 18. Also in Atlantis on normal difficulty I found some staves that had epic properties on them. This might be a bug though.
Once you have a character on Epic or Legendary, you can use them to provide nice gear to lower level characters. The gambler NPC is a great source for that. Your high level character will probably have collected quite a number of pieces in his journey too. Don't sell them, put them into TQVault, especially legendary items and all sets starting from epic difficulty.

For spears you could also go to Atlantis. More than 80 percent of the item drops there are spears, no unique or legendary spears though, as far as I remember.

In Gadir, the starter City of Atlantis, there is also a gambler NPC where you can buy orbs that hold random loot. With some spare money and luck you might find nice items in them.

I reinstalled TQIT Anniversary Edition from Steam . TQ Vault did not work. I then went to https://github.com/EtienneLamoureux/TQVaultAE as recommended on the forum, and installed that version. It wouldn't work either. I get the following message when I try to start it:
“The vault path was not set.
Using the default setting.
Please verify the vault path with the configuration dialogue.”
You should get this message only on first start of TQVaultAE. The tool should automatically detect your game path and maybe your savegame path as well. Otherwise you can set them manually. I'm using the current TQVaultAE 4.3.0 with TQ AE version 2.10.5 (GOG) and it is working fine.

Now, the TQIT Anniversary Edition is superior to the original TQIT in a number of ways, so other than problems with the vault why should I use it? The answer is I have a working version of The Defiler. And, I understand from browsing the forum that The Defiler is out of date and doesn't work with these newer versions of TQIT  Anniversary Edition. So, I am very happy to have the Defiler.
There are multiple versions of the Defiler. The newer DotNet version 1.3.9 doesn't work with TQ AE.
The old Visual Basic version 3.4.5 does, somewhat. All the patches for the exe don't work, but you can still make some edits to your characters, change stats for example.
Still, for character changes you should use TQ Respec.

As for inventory space - I don't know of an up-to-date mod for that. I modified the game myself for this purpose, using this tutorial. Sorry, it's in German, but you may find another in English if you search for it.

Caster characters should get enough energy from their masteries, but you can also try to get some gear with lowered energy cost or some increased energy regeneration to help manage the energy pool. So far, I didn't have the need to invest attribute points in energy.

Try to get some item(s) with Vitality Resistance. This will prevent them from leaching too much life. Shield Charge could also help, if it's done when they start leaching. The stun will interrupt the minion.

Hi,

I'm experiencing a strange issue with my ranged characters. When attacking with their weapons, they are very often shooting into the floor in front of an enemy instead of the enemy, despite clicking on the enemy itself. This happens in all regions and the effect is most severe when standing on a slope, where the character shoots into the floor directly in front of him, instead of an enemy at higher or lower altitude.
Also in the Seventh Branch of Yggdrasil it is impossible to hit any target, whose center is higher than a human, like the Yggdrasil Buds and Yggdrasil Eagles, using ranged weapons. With my casters I can only kill them using AoE spells and my bow master had to switch to his spear and go melee. My rune master thrower could also only kill them using spells.

This bug is extremely annoying as I can't use combat distance to my advantage. Do others experience this bug as well and is there a fix? I'm playing on the latest GOG version 2.10.5.

edit: Another thing that happens regularly is that large enemies are falling below the ground when they are killed. I don't remember this issue from earlier versions of the game.

I tried the latest Asian Heavenly pack and it looks good, but there is a graphical issue on the character screen. She is wearing a black skirt.

One more thing I noticed after reaching act 4 is that enemies can dodge the Shen Pao explosion.  :o
Those "Anouran - Mighty Bullfrog" did now more than once stand in the middle of the explosion itself and took no damage at all, when everything around them died. I don't think that this is intended.

I'm currently trying a Channeler, because I like caster characters. Unfortunately the Shen Pao skill has some annoying flaws:
  • It's not possible to lob the grenade over obstacles. If you want to take out some ranged characters in the distance, it will most likely fail because of that lone melee enemy who is already on the way towards you and catches the grenade with his teeth...
  • The grenade doesn't explode on contact with the ground. As most enemies move around a lot, the grenade will most likely miss and alarm the enemy. He will then run towards you and out of the blast radius.

In close combat Shen Pao is great, but that's usually not what I need it for on a caster.

In my opinion some adjustments to the skill are in order:
  • Change the launch angle from 25 to 45 degree, just like the poison gas bomb from the Rogue mastery. This allows to lob the grenade over approaching enemies.
  • Set the alert radius to 0, just like the poison gas bomb. This at least gives a chance to hit something at the distance, instead of just alarming it.
  • Set all projectile time to live values to 0, so we don't fall asleep waiting for the bomb to go off.

I just started playing TQ AE again and there is one annoying thing that I would like to solve. In the main menu I click on "Play Titan Quest". The character screen shows and when I try to switch characters or click on "Start" nothing happens. After some seconds a message box pops up "Network problems detected.". After confirming the message I can switch characters and start to play.

Just to be clear - I want to start a Single Player game, not play online. The above bug wasn't there in the 2.8.x versions that I played earlier. I'm currently using the latest 2.10.5.
My network doesn't allow any application to directly access the Internet, so no, it's not gonna happen that I allow TQ to access multiplayer servers to play single player...

Is there a way to turn this new behavior of the game off? Even a TCP Reset is ignored by the game.

Your changes in the text should work. The .arc is being created in a way that is not parsed correctly by TQRespec. The message "StorageType not implemented: 0" from the stacktrace above means a field in the .ARC that should be 1(uncompressed) or 3(compressed), is set as 0. How did you create this .arc ? If you tell me the tool and options used, maybe I can reproduce and fix this issue.

I placed the modified "skills.txt in the TQ AE folder and then used the "ArchiveTool.exe" that comes with the game.
The command was:
