What's the Save Game button used for in in-game Menu?

I remember pressing it often when I first played but as I continued on I found out that it didn't matter if I pressed it or not. Is there a need for the button?  ???

I think its necessary to use, at least when doing triple trick for some mods.

Good question. since the game auto saves when you  activate a ribirth fountain, i guess its a non need button at all.

Iirc correctly, Medierra over at the GD forum said most players wanted to have it, reassured them the game was saved.  It was one of the things he asked the GD forum about when GD was being developed - keep the save button or not since as sauruz says it saves automatically with every action you make.  Concensus was no, not needed which is why GD doesn't have one.

Still, even knowing that I still use it when playing TQIT/AE.  :)

you can test this although i wouldn't advice you to.. when you find a good item, pick it up and immediately pull the plug of your PC.. just pull it off and not even go to a rebirth fountain, don't portal home too.. i can assure you you will lose that item when you open up the game.. so some players use it when they find a rare item, just to be assured if they suddenly lose power or if the game suddenly crashes
