Achilles relic and transmutation
« on: 20 November 2018, 02:17:39 »
Im curious about this. looked for some answers online but nothing so far. So here my question. Transmutation turn base weapon physical to elemental. Does flat physical bonus to weapon count as base physical? I dlike to know, to see if its more interesting to socket some good MI with Prometeus/Zeus, or Achilles. I prefer achilles becaus u get a good attack speed bonnus.

I believe not, since it specifies it only converts "Base Weapon Damage" and this damage bonus is not inherent to the weapon, but I could be wrong.

A video with interesting tests. However i have still a question about transmutation.

We know that physical damage will involve a calculation with armor whereas elemental damage will not. But how does the probability to hit work (which is calculated 1st iirc) ?.

If you have an OA much more smaller than the target's DA, is the whole hit negated before or after transmutation ? Logically only the physical damage is negated but it seems strange that a part of the hit is negated and the other part not.

can't say this for sure but i made a defiler test character before.. a runesmith with full conversion.. with very low dex and very high int so the OA was very low too.. in legendary, i felt like some of my attacks weren't doing damage.. i then increased my dex to about 400 and the damage got noticeably better.. i was doing full conversion so only int should boost damage.. i take it you still need good OA to be able to hit, even with full conversion

edit: it was a paladin with conversion items.. not runesmith

Arf, this is convincing. I feared that feature. I still don't have make my choice between the strength or intelligence route for my runesmith, keeping a bunch of attribute points. Conversion or not conversion. Things are more clear now.

If you play melee, no matter what your dmg type is, still need high OA enough to hit enemies.
If you want to play with elementals dmg and don't have high OA, just go with throwing weapon + shield/bow or dualwield throwing weapon.
Thunder Strike works best with Dualwield Throwing Weapon.

Just Physical dmg( and may be Piercing dmg too) from melee hit can crit.
