crap.. now i can't make 2 targets get double damage.. maybe it was just the armlets of freyja (seal of fate proc) that made me see 2 damage numbers

so it doesn't bounce anymore, the animation just got changed so instead of chain lightning, it just does multiple lightning bolts.. the damage of the other lightning bolts though are based on the damage of chain lightning skill

but still, it does seem like the range is farther now, right? or maybe I'm just blinded by my hope that my char got something from this update.. boohoohoohoo :'(


bah.. unless they fix things (quick cast, fps drops) it looks like I'm done with this game.. i might just chat with you guys.. bug fixing is the only thing i can hope from them.. regarding balancing and generally making the game better, i don't think i can expect anything good from devs that doesn't understand their own game

i did some tests.. i think lightning bolt got a little bit better

as shown from my vid, lightning bolt + chain lightning used to be just 1 lightning bolt, then it will bounce to other mobs

but now, as shown from your vid, lightning bolt + chain lightning will drop multiple lightning bolts, then it will still bounce to other mobs.. what this does, there is now a very little chance that a monster will get hit by a lightning bolt and a chain lightning.. now i can't say for sure but I've played too many storm chars already and i don't think I've seen that before

but your friend is right, although the other lightning bolts look like lightning bolts, they're just chain lightning

tested on the 2 sets of 3 target dummies just outside sparta.. if you do it again and again sometimes 2 dummies take double damage, the middle and the target.. but it's just a very little chance it's hardly noticeable.. but i feel like because of the new animation, more monsters get hit now because of the farther range

too bad the game is just too laggy right now.. it wasn't like this before..  and quick cast + shift is still not fixed

if it's just the lightning bolt skill, then they probably changed it in Atlantis.. this is how lightning bolt used to work



maybe they were trying to make up because they knew they added an out of place petmaster skill and a melee skill to a caster mastery.. that doesn't change the fact that they added an out of place petmaster skill and a melee skill on a caster mastery.. lolz ;D

now i wonder if the other lightning bolts do the base skill damage or the upgrade skill damage.. care to check? max the base skill then leave the upgrade skill at lvl 1.. then max both and compare

how fun it is finding new builds not suggested by the devs

just one question.. where is that multi lightning bolt coming from? last time i checked, i never saw anything like that even when i maxed lightning dash and that wisp buff.. and I'm familiar with your items and I'm not aware of anything that procs that

to modders: how about this suggestion, if you really like lightning dash

since that 10 lighting damage is worthless anyway, how about remove that but instead it transmits/converts all weapon damage to lightning instead? that would really fit the name lightning dash, right? and it will now scale with static charge and eye of the storm

how the player will use a shield is up to the player.. pair it with rune or defense (armor handling).. equip lots of requirement reduction.. santa's shield.. or just use it with bow, if it works with bows.. last time i checked it works with thrown weapons

@Hector , i was one of those.. apologies.. these devs doesn't know their game at all

@Prosoro , try running a squishy caster on late game legendary, using lighting dash for the sake of movement speed.. you just make yourself closer to dying.. chance to dodge will not help.. that's why i play on fully zoomed camera angle.. as a caster, you have to be careful and not just mindlessly rushing in

casters got the shorter end of the stick.. that much is obvious

these new items, and again new skills, that makes you think new builds.. when they added new (unusual) items like these on ragnarok, i felt glad.. but now i feel like it has to stop

even before ragnarok came out, i have always found fun in trying unusual builds.. because something not easily seen is what makes it unusual.. and when you are able to think up something and make it viable, that's what makes it rewarding

but when the devs throw all these items at you, the unusual gradually becomes ordinary, and suddenly there is no feeling of satisfaction

it will attract new players, but it will also push out old players (i mean players that have spent considerable time already)

until they fix that, only then can i play and only then can i participate
Umm cant you just play without quick cast then? Just toggle it off in the settings. I'm not liking it either, so only for specific characters Ill be turning it on, if at all.
if i turn it off, i feel silly not putting points on the new skills.. why do you have to click again when casting fire nova and meteor rain when the landing spot don't change anyway? but notice that skills like blade barrier and perfect block are fixed even if quick cast is disabled.. did the devs have any caster beta testers?

I'm still envious of the other masteries.. dream gets to have a Doppelganger that can be permanent with +4 all skills and 80% CDR.. warfare can get ancestral warriors permanent now also with +4 and 80% CDR.. defense has summons now that can also be permanent with +4 and 80% CDR.. but these skills, they are all useful for all builds with or without 80% CDR

but caster masteries, well.... they got skills that may or may not be of use depending on the build.. all in the name of diversity which in the first place shouldn't be forced on the player.. diversity had always been possible because of dual-classing, choice of items, and choice of stat distribution.. they should've added skills that are useful to all builds instead.. i think it's pretty clear the devs didn't have any genuine caster player on their beta testing team.. things like these and the unusually high energy costs are very easily noticed if you have high level caster characters.. that or the devs just don't care about casters at all.. could be both


on a side note, why isn't torchlight frontiers still not released yet? I've been checking it every once in a while and it seems it still hasn't been released yet

well, the answer to your question is yes..
but why don't you try what i did: socket monkey kings trickery to your pet jewelries.. then use throwing knives to proc the debuff
that would mean taking out all your points from poison spells..
or if you want a poison char, you can do what icefreeze did, if you have the items

edit: but mixing pet build + whatever.. that's not as simple as it sounds like

edit 2: plague + pet jewelries with monkey kings = traps + wolves killing machines

Its strange that something likes this happen when the community was involve in the first place. When they start recruit some long time player i was thinking that this Will have solve the most problem before It present itself  at the release. But It seams this isent the case. Maybe they Will need to open some poll for let the player choose what skill has to be modified and in what way.
maybe the beta testers were more focused on finding bugs? i agree with the open poll.. 100%
edit: actually, i really really hope we can make this happen

i dont like how fire nova skill effect covers all screnn, i would prefer having it as small radius tho
good point.. but if they made the radius small, they would have to add a different debuff/CC.. impaired aim would be near useless with small radius.. for me, fire nova should be a skill you can cast often.. so smaller radius but not with that high energy cost.. and different debuff/CC

anyone noticed the absurd energy costs of these new skills? meteor rain has what 400 energy cost? lol.. fire nova has 300+?

like making them seem ultimate very good skills which they are not

by comparison, eruption only has 133 energy cost, lightning bolt has 200 (both at ultimate max +4).. both long range and sure to hit, with way less cooldowns and way less energy costs

things like these come when devs don't play their games.. on paper, it's not much but when you actually play it, you see the problems

@wolpak just try it on fully zoomed camera angle, very easy to notice.. it will force your character to move every time

@icefreeze lol so i will just bind all my skills to mouse button then? oh wait how many mouse buttons do i have? you seem to have missed when i said number skill buttons

i only play casters nowadays so i have zero characters playable right now

my solution is: i will take a look at incredible adventures of van helsing.. and probably torchlight 2 again.. i played torchlight 2 before and i don't like the cartoony graphics.. but at least the devs there care about casters
