Nope. There are several templates that don't work (and didn't use to either) on items with autocast enabled. Not much you can do until there's a fix from the devs' side.

- I've got another issue with a custom skill.
Problem is a pet's pet is not player's pet. You can set their teams to be friendly (like killable guards found across the game), under Character tab set defaultTeamMajor & defaultTeamMinor to TeamMajor_Human and TeamMinorHuman_Friendly respectively; But that's about it as far as I remember, can't make them full-fledged pets.

Having looked at Atlantis they did it justice visually wise. Gorgeous scenery assets and probably the most intricate landscapes TQ has ever seen.
And knowing World Editor (yikes) it really does deserve high praise.
Gameplay wise however it felt lacking insight.
Repetitive new player skills, didn't look much into new itemization but from a quick glance there are three bows in a row with the same granted skill which is a fairly odd decision. And who could've thought one day a telkin is gonna be a final boss huh.
Overall I do wish Ragnarok was more something like that.
Yeah on the bright side, there are signs of new easter egg content being in the works that's probably going to be sneaked in a few updates down the road.

As a temporal measure you can repack XPack3 as an .arc to get Editor to see its contents.
I.e. unpack important .arcs such as Creatures, Scenery, Underground and so forth, put them all in one folder and pack it under XPack3.arc.

Simple in the light options is shadow related, e.g. simple light won't cast shadows.

Motion Orient:
Pretty much what it says, orients texture towards its emitting direction.

Regarding shaders, another commonly used one is ParticleDistort.ssh (as the name suggests used to create distortion effect).
Worth mentioning AE PS Editor saves to & loads from only specific directory, that is ...Working\CustomMaps\Art_TQA2\source. Also add Options tab overview (such as choosing background color/texture, inserting/removing entity).

Well the effects are fine. Animations however crash regardless of having anything attached or not, which is fairly odd.
Try extracting original anm from the beginning and edit it with Notepad++. Or use these.

For starters you can try to test if the effect even works at all (eg. place the effect entity on the map in Editor and see if it crashes).
Other than that it's pretty hard too say without seeing the anm & effect for yourself.

Not much difference from a player's standpoint I guess, other than that Quake actually has its stuff properly fitted and optimized compared to an ARPG mod.
Or if you meant why bother making something like that when there are proper shooters out there, it's rather simple, I just felt like it.

That is the point actually, to try and bring something new and unconventional for a game like TQ. Instance where the players start out the same, and the only thing that matters is your skill in handling the character.
As well as not having to build it to actually be viable allows for a non existent entry threshold, that is anyone can hop in and have fun regardless.

Editor's Sound layer takes .dbrs only from the following directories:
records\sounds\
records\xpack\sounds\
records\xpack2\sounds\

You'll have to build your record under one of them in order to use it in the Sound layer.

Uploaded following changes:
Added more unused gear, including kite shields, couple of staves, swords & spears. Some common weapons that had different versions looking the same received new looks again
Adjusted bucklers' bitmaps
Normal torches received unused crude look. The vanilla look stays for Epic & Legendary torches that were previously unobtainable
Revamped the sling
Added cyclops quest scene & a special chest
Unused Dream pet Dream Guide utilized as a nightstalker hero's summon

New full list of added unused gear featured below

Now however onto a more technical side of things, the mod's getting bulky so fellow modders feel free to let me know if I should create a separate records folder to contain the mod's stuff when it's feasible, for easier incorporation.

Added kite shields, common tulip staves, couple o' swords & spears
Made a special chest & animation for the cyclop boss. That one was purely for fun I confess. Let me know what you think, should I include it or nah
