Title: Best TQ Vault?
Post by: Laionidas on 07 May 2018, 15:11:26
Which TQ Vault version is everyone here using?

I was using TQ Vault XL myself, since it's AE compatible, and I need the extra space it offers. Well, I guess you could do the same by relying on multiple Vault files, but having all in one or two is more convenient. However, the XL is still buggy, and the biggest problem I have with it is that the program window is bigger than my screen, and can not be downsized, meaning I literally can't see the bottom portion of my Vault.

Does anyone know of a version that is Ragnarok compatible, shares XL's capacity, but doesn't have the window-size issue, and is perhaps a bit more stable?

I've had this same issue before but mine is... on the first open of tqvault, it doesn't show the bottom part, it's way down the screen.. and then when i close it and open it again, it shows the bottom part but this time, the equipment, transfer, and storage tabs are hidden.. obviously it's also a case of window size bigger than the screen

TQvaultAE v2.5.6 fixed it for me.. it's the same size as XL i think

I'll trust your judgement on this one then. I'll try it as soon as I've reïnstalled Windows tomorrow (my laptop is acting up ever since the big W10 update some months ago).

Don't know whether it'll be compatible with my existing Vault files, but it shouldn't be too much trouble to work around if it isn't.

Shouldn't be a problem with the files, but back them up first just in case.  I think I've got the 2.5.2 version, haven't gotten around to updating to 2.5.6 yet. On my to do list.

Is the vault restarting after you've chosen the mod?  It should do and then you select your character.

I just checked what this addon is, is it safe to use without ruining your current save?

Me as a hoarder would love to use vault, I already have like 6 mules with stuff i probably never use, but i like to keep them just incase. :p

It won't affect your saves, but back them up just in case.  All it does is access the save files so you can move things about between characters/storage easily out of game.

If you like collecting then you might want to install the TQCollector as well.  It helps you keep track of all the special items in the game: MIs, Uniques, Parchments, etc.  It also tells you where you can find them ingame, i.e. which Acts or sometimes more specific info.

Can't get vault to work 2.5.4 or 2.5.6. Any help would be welcome
had 2.5.4, upgraded to 2.5.6 a couple days ago, worked fine until, now brought 2.5.4 and get the same error

Hmmm,.. did you install 2.5.6 as administrator?

Sounds like the previous version (2.5.4) and/or TQ itself was installed in a location protected by administrator rights. If you then install 2.5.6 without, it won't have access to the folders it needs to have access to.

Thanks for the reply. Has gotten much worse, now TQA wont create a character. Goes right up to create but wont. Pick name, tunic color, sex, click create, just the blank picture with no character.
Contacted GOG. will see what happens.  Worked fine the day before. Most odd.
After shutting down computer, Which I hadn't done before, uninstall/reinstall let you play with old characters in 1024 X 768, but can't make any changes in options but still can't create any new ones.
Sigh!! can play and seem to work ok, but when you save and come back it has revered back to where you started.

I used to have those issues, until I figured my anti-virus silently disallowed TQ to modify folders that are deemed "protected".

See if your anti-virus has the capability to protect folders from being modified, and see if the SaveData folder is protected. Or, the other way around, if TQ is allowed to modify files at all.

Downloaded today TQVault 2.6. After some tests, it works perfectly with TQ_AER (Steam).

My last version was an old 2.5.2 and i was used to small errors like nerthus relic not recognized or stats on green that didn't correspond to values ingame. Not really a problem, just annoying.

With 2.6 all these minor defaults are gone, it's a great tool now  ;D
