Technical Support / Game SXF imbalance
« on: 09 February 2019, 20:32:24 »
Okay, this isn't caused by the game I don't think, but does only happen with TQ.

I installed new speakers a while back and now I find that the sound in the game is very unbalanced. :( They're a pair of Logitech Z130s.  Some sounds I can barely hear while something like Thunder Strike is nearly shooting me out of my seat it's so loud.  I can't find anything ingame or in Windows Settings that would allow me to do more than a general SFX volume control.  Did a quick look in the programmes and can't find anything specific for Logitech so can't adjust that way.  Anyone got any bright ideas for how to get the balance better than it is atm?  Tried both my Steam and GOG versions of the game and it's the same in both so a technical problem rather than a difference between the versions.

Forum News and Info / Re: Discord Roles
« on: 08 February 2019, 07:19:59 »
Do we really need role names for the discord?  :-\

Updated.  Um, would have thought Traps and Plague would have been a bit OP at these levels.  :-\

THQ Nordic / Re: Closed Beta Program
« on: 06 February 2019, 19:33:41 »
I was just going to post that botebote77.  I've just been told about it in the GD discord.  Seems Nordic have plans for something to do with the game.  :)

Texture & Skin Modding / Re: All Non-Included Database Items

Yeah, Spiritcaller is used on pet stuff as a prefix: jewellery and staves.  You have Beastcaller's, Spiritcaller's, Summoner's, Invoker's, Ritualist's and Puppetmaster's.  Looking at that list I would guess that Beast Brand was probably going to be a pet one too, but dropped.

Bone Shiv I'd guess was maybe going to be a weapon, but dropped, since there are Bone Shiv's in GD.

CONGRATULATIONS TAUCETI! WELL DONE!  You're the first to achieve this in the new challenge.  ;D

You join letsrock who completed the Yellows Only challenge a few days ago.  Both of you are true Titan Slayers!

Spam should be reported, not rated.  ;D  Honestly not sure about these sort of systems.  One of my other forums uses thanks and groans and while it works pretty well I sometimes wonder why a simple comment rates a thanks.  Plus we sometimes get serial groaners so that's a negative for the system there.  On the other hand the GD forum doesn't have any sort of rating system (deliberate decision by big M) and sometimes I miss not being able to give a useful post thanks or rating.  :-\  The old TQ forum never had it so can't say I missed it there.

Guess we'll just have to see how well it works here.

My pleasure.  As said in the OP it was to make use of all those lovely + yellow items I keep collecting and never using.  Also seemed like a fun challenge to try.  Just goes to show you don't need uber gear to finish the game.

879
Congratulations letsrock.  You're our first success for this challenge.  Well done!  ;D

Welcome to the forum.  :)

1. Maybe using LAN?  Don't multiplay so not sure whether it's possible or not.

2.  If you mean between the disc version and AE, not much.  AE made TQ and IT into one continuous game and also added most, if not all, of the community bugfixes.  They've also added some new heroes to fight, new items (you now have throwing weapons).

3. Yes, you should be able to.  I've had no problems playing mine in AE.

4-5. As efko said there are some new mods for the AE version and we also have the old TQIT ones here or you can find them on kirmiziperfect.com as well.  Old and new guides too.

Updated and cross fingers for success soon Tauceti.  :)

882
Is that it?  Are you done with Legendary Tauceti?

883
Yeah, it's not bright since it's a world at war.  But it uses the TQ engine which has been much overhauled and improved and the skill system of course.  A lot of work has been done on the atmospheric feel of the game so it may not be to your taste.  I know a lot of people don't particularly like it.

884
tqrunner, yeah I think Haruspex is still a pretty powerful class to play.

And if you haven't yet discovered TQIT's spiritual successor Grim Dawn, then hop over to the forum and have a look see.

As said Medierra who was lead game designer for TQ/IT started working on it way back in 2008-9 after Iron Lore closed down.  The Kickstarter he ran in 2012 was very successful and enabled him to hire full time staff.  Even so the game wasn't fully released until February 2016, though it was in early access on Steam from 2013.  An expansion for the game adding two new masteries, two more Acts, new factions, etc, was released in October 2017 and in March last year Crate announced a second expansion Forgotten Gods which is due out any time between now and end of March.  That will add another new mastery, a new Act, some new factions, etc.

Yes, fall for you Yanks.  ;)

And yes, a lot of the "old guard" did migrate to GD, though many of us were there right at the beginning supporting Medierra in his efforts to get the game made.  Others came later as word spread of his new project, then the Kickstarter, etc. There's a long thread on the whole sorry TQ.net saga over on the GD forum.

What really annoyed me was the first loss of the site for several weeks for which iEntry apologised and then they went and cut us off dead with no warning anyway.  Tried e-mailing them a couple of times to find out what was going on and got no response and I don't think anyone else did either.  Another crazy thing to me as well is that iEntry's boss still pays several thousand a year to keep the domain name for which he now has no use whatsoever.
