I] About The Anniversary Edition (Edit 2016)
Titan Quest Anniversary Edition is a remastered version of the original games: It combines the original Titan Quest, the add-on Immortal Throne, the Fanpatches, and comes with a whole slew of improvements and new features. These changes not only affect the graphics but also the gameplay: even Skills are rebalanced.
Here is a sample of the changes (taken from the THQ Nordic):
• Restored and improved multiplayer functionality, including new features like a built-in voice chat and NAT resolving for best multiplayer connectivity
• Support for more resolutions, larger camera distance and scaleable UI size
• Improved performance and general stability
• Complete balance rework with improvements to all Masteries, damage types, unique items and sets
• Countless bug fixes and other improvements, including ten years’ worth of community fixes
• Increased challenges and rewards for larger parties and on higher difficulty levels
• Dozens of new heroes and bosses to encounter
• Improved enemy and pet AI
• Quality of life features like higher stack limits, quick item pickup, a larger stash and a speed setting
• Reduced cheating with curbed exploits, removal of test items and mod comparison in multiplayer
Now in the detail:
– old saves are compatible with the Anniversary Edition! Woo Hoo!,
– In the older versions you could stack only 5 potions (red or blue) per square. Now in the Anniversary Edtion you can stack up to 25 potions per square! Enjoy the extra space,
– The quest A Gargantuan Yeti (Act III) now bestows a brand new bonus to your Pets: Bonus to all Pets: +100% Health! Good news for Pet users since Familiars where dying left and right during Act III/IV Normal,
– new assignable key to to pick up nearby gold, relics and potions,
– new toggle key (on/off) to always display loot (like Torchlight 2),
– You gain levels faster in the Anniversary Edition,
– You can (finally) change the game Speed in the options (3 speeds),
– New HUD Options: by defaut the Anniversary Edition provides a Diablo 2 kind of HUD, with the HP/MP bars centered on the lower part of the screen. But if you go into the Options you can bring back the old HUD, with the HP/MP bars located on upper left corner,
– Bosses have a chance to ignore pets, so beware!,
– Skills that were subpar have been revised to scale better with your level for instance (Ex: Retaliation Damage…),
– Skills that were overpowered have been nerfed,

Coming back to the lovely Avenger what has changed for him? To sum it up Earth has been nicely buffed and Hunting has been reworked (bleeding damage has been raised and wood lore has been nerfed). Examples:
Earth Enchantment:
+ Now also increases Burn Damage
+ Radius increases by 10% per additional level
– Unified all non-trance aura cooldowns to 4 seconds
Volativity:
+ Now also increases Burn Damage
+ Also increases Physical Damage (half as much)
– Core Dweller AI behavior now corresponds to its orders
– Core Dweller now casts Provoke in normal and aggressive stance
Gouge:
– Increased Bleeding Damage by 50%
Take Down ~ Eviscerate:
– Increased Bleeding Damage by 150%
Wood Lore:
– Now gives 30+32/level DA instead of % increases
Study Prey ~ Flush Out:
– Now also lowers Bleeding Resistance…

II] Intro
(The title may sound showy but the post is not, I can assure you. This thread may be old news for Regulars but wait! There is a section entirely dedicated for Veterans: I have some questions for you. I hope you’ll answer the call).
Playing a “hybrid” (a character part Physical / part Caster) can be a blessing and a curse. It is a known fact that focusing on one type of damage is the way to go. Avengers and the likes are no classes for beginners, just so you know. So why for Heaven’s sake would you choose an Avenger? Well here’s my answer: Hunting & Earth are my favourite Masteries. And one day I decided to mix the two and see how it goes.
Note: I’m playing with the fanpatch 1.17
III] Why Hunting
Because Hunting has it all! It is one of those Masteries that you’ll have a hard time to part with (just like Defense). Let’s recap:
– a Hunter doesn’t gives a d**n about Poison Resistance because he’s got Herbal Remedy. Even on Legendary Act IV I stood in the middle of Undead Mages casting their big poison gas bombs. They didn’t scratch me,
– a Hunter doesn’t gives a d**n about Entrapment because he’s got Trail Blaizing,
– a Hunter has always the edge in terms of Defensive Ability thanks to almighty Wood Lore (it’s percentage based),
Edit 2016: now with The Anniversary Edition Wood Lore has been nerfed, the bonus to Defensive Ability isn’t percentage based anymore.
– a Hunter is always the best Bow user whatever secondary he chooses, thanks to the Marksmanship tree,
– a Hunter doesn’t fear tough armoured enemies because he’s got one of the strongest debuff in the game: Study Prey (& Synergy),
– a Hunter has a huge bonus to Piercing Damage thanks to many skill trees (Art of the Hunt, Call of the Hunt, Marksmanship mainly)
You see? All those goodies add up. It also means you’ll miss your Hunting A LOT when you’ll roll a completely new toon. Hunting is overwhelming (again just like Defense)
IV] Why Earth
Well not much to say here. First and foremost I tend to be a “sloppy” guy in every single hack’n’slash I put my hands on. I can be a real Leroy Jenkins sometimes. In this regard Earth is just the Mastery for me:
– The Core Dweller is a tough pet who tanks for me (at least from Epic and on),
– Stone Form is a life-saviour when I’m cornered. At least when used properly. 2 Rules concerning Stone Form:
# Never use it if you haven’t a good casting speed. How many times did I die when trying to cast it? Countless times! At least if you have 0 casting speed cast it in advance, never at the last second, ‘cos you’ll regret it I can assure you,
# never put a single point in its synergy (Molten Rock). Never! It can really mess up your life. Not only the damage retaliation is puny but more importantly you are somewhat blocked around a second when the animation is over. Some monster can beat you up. And the additional 2 seconds of invincibility of Molten Rock can ruin your day. Here’s one example:
Ex: Typhon: once I was caught offguard and noticed he had cast his Meteor Shower. Thus I cast Stone Form. Thing is: I had put a point into the synergy Molten Rock. So I was completely stopped for 8 sec (instead of 6 sec)! In the meantime that b****d had cast another Meteor Shower and I died.
With only a single point into Stone Form you can disengage faster and safely.
– Heat Shield: that 15% Damage Resistance (Physical only) becomes more and more essential the more you advance in the game. On Legendary when fire-touting enemies dismiss my Heat Shield, my survivability declines considerably,
– not counting that I love throwing things (Eruption & Volcanic Orb)
V] Synergies between Earth & Hunting
I noticed 2 synergies only, but what a bargain:
# Core Dweller + Monster Lure = Double Taunt / Double Tank
On Normal you won’t notice how those two go well. Actually you may curse the day you’ve rolled an Avenger. From Act III they’ll drop like flies and constantly recasting them becomes tedious. But you’ll have to if you want to survive (at least one of them). On Epic however (Even more so on Legendary) they’ll become a force to reckon with:
First they taunt. They’ll draw the attention of countless mobs. Believe me it is a sight to see: on Legendary when facing Machae archers you’ll be astounded to see countless of arrows flying around you, and not touching you one bit! (note on Machae archers: fear them!)
Secondly they tank like mad! How many times have I experienced death because of Heroic Monsters or tough Bosses? Well with an Avenger this is a thing of the past, thanks to my double team. Just for your information:
– I NEVER died against a single Telkine with my Avenger. Be it on Normal, Epic or Legendary! (and I told you I’m kinda sloppy),
– I never died against Hades!
– Pharaoh Honor Guard? Gargantuan Yeti? Kalixenia? Charon? The Bloated One (Albinos Spider)? Cerberus? A joke!
But how does it work? Simple. First max your Core Dweller (all skills except Wildfire). Secondly max your Monster Lure (not the Synergy, the damage is puny even when Earth Enchantment is around). Third max your Marksmanship tree.
EDIT: ‘Volley’: you should max it also. Because firing 3 arrows at a time increases your DPS by a country mile. If you max Volley and Scatter Shot – Marksmanship tree – you’ll understand why Bow builds dominate so much in this game. (Note that Volley works with spears too).
The Core Dweller is your first line of defense. He tanks like a Sherman. For your safety (against tough mobs like Melinoes) always cast a Monster Lure between you and your Core Dweller. Should your Core Dweller go down a majority of monster should cluster around the Monster Lure. Keep raining arrows & Eruption on their heads. That’s it. As simple as that. Against Bosses this is the way to go too. Now if you didn’t understand: an Avenger is mainly a Bow user!! And Holy Diablo Cow! It works!!
EDIT:
– Stick to Bows! “Spear Avengers” are just a joke on Legendary! Of course you’ll do well if you find yourself a Phorkos Trident on Epic, but the same goes for all melee classes really… ; )
– The Core Dweller has 2 arch-nemesis though: Beware any Boss with Horns. Il especially advise you to be extra cautious when facing the “Minotaur Lord” and the “Fire Bull”. Those two can really take you and your familiar(s) down extremely fast!! So don’t forget to dance your Core Dweller around! This advice counts for every class in the game, not just the Avenger!
# Flush Out + Eruption + Volatility = Outstanding combo
Flush Out (synergy of Study Prey) reduces Elemental resistances considerably: you need it to boost your already ungodly Eruption spell. Max,
Study Prey reduces Piercing Resistance. Max (you’re a Bow user, remember),
Eruption: a volcano on demand. The more points in it, the more fragments. Always cast Study Prey before casting Eruption. It is critical! Max,
Volatility: contrary to other classes I strongly recommend to max Volatility early. Middle Epic is the good time. When I maxed it I noticed a considerable boost to Eruption & Volcanic Orb.
VI] Problems
Of course you’ll face hurdles. Did you think you could play a Hybrid without paying the price? Obviously Not.
Energy regen: this will be your main problem. First because you have two strong Energy Reserved Skills (Art of the Hunt & Earth Enchantment) which will hijack a big chunk of your energy bar. Secondly your Spells / Summons are very taxing,
Stat Distribution: the Hybrid curse. You’ll always be torn between putting points into DEX, INT and STR.
Ladies & Gentlemen! This calls for strong measures! Follow me to the next paragraph.

why i chose battlemage?
i chose a melee orientated battle mage by accident while i was just mixing classes and later found it to be good fun.
it’s hard at the start because balancing your stats is hard so at the start you’ll need to stock up on health potions. once you’ve mastered the classes it’s a piece of cake as ardor and earth enchantment help make short work of the enemies in front whilst ring of flame helps against those behind.
pros/cons
the cons of being a battle mage is at the beginning as it’s hard to balance you’re skills so u can’t just tank straight away. because of this it can be difficult for beginners. the pros are that you can quickly dish out enormous amounts of damage to large groups of enemies later on in the game.
how to play battlemage
to play battle mage u need both warfare mastery and earth mastery. i would recommend going for
warfare first as it is is the cornerstone of this class.
skill level one
the first skills you should add for warfare are onslaught which you can add to left mouse button and later leads to ardor. the other skill is weapon training which increases the speed and power of your attack. by this stage you should be level 8 and be able to add earth skills. add earth enchantment which will further increase you’re attack power.
skill level 4
add points into dual wield which will allow you to deal twice the damage twice as fast and ignore pain which adds damage resistance. move up to the next mastery of earth and add points to brimstone and ring of flame which will further increase you’re attack power and help you against large groups of enemies. also add heat shield to reduce damage from other fire based attacks.
skill level 10
add points to hew, battle standard (good with ancestral warrior) and war wind which you can add to right mouse button add points to soften metal which will degrade the enemies weapons and armor.
skill level 16
add cross cut to full level and hamstring which will slow down enemies. add points to soften metal which will degrade the enemies weapons and armor.
skill level 24
add points to lacerate which will make you’re right mouse button attack much more powerful and triumph.
skill level 32
add points to tumult and ardor. ardor will increase attack speed with each successive hit meaning the that that your already powerful and fast attack will be even stronger and faster. also add points to ancestral warrior which will summon five warriors when maxed out to help. level up ardor first though as it is the most useful. also add points to volativity which will further increase the power of earth enchantment.
strength and dexterity
when it comes to strength and dexterity you need a good balance as dexterity will allow you to get the faster dual wield weapons while strength will allow you to get better armor. you will also add to add points to mana and health. the max dexterity you’ll need will be about 350-400 depending on what weapons you want whilst strength will be at about 500 for the best armors.

Note before reading
In this guide you shall find directives and suggestions, tips shall we say. I will not tell you that you need to get some kind of gear or something, I will let that to you. Not because I don’t know or care, its because each player finds it own play style the best. I will discuss each skill and tell what they do, why is it good for, and give some basic tips about gear.
Mastery by mastery , skill by skill
Lets start off with Warfare since it will be your main .
When playing a Warfare mastery toon , you must decide either to use or not to use dual wield . I say , use . It has freaking nice synergies , especially one called Hew which increases your damage by 50% , when proced . Also Tulmut , which is another synergy of Dual Wield , when proced does bleeding damage to enemy and stuns it up to , well 1 second but it does an 360 arc attack with up to 3 enemies attacked .
Weapon Training , with its offensive ability and attack speed , is a must of course , unless you are planing on using spears but then you chose wrong mastery . Offensive ability is increasing your chance to hit so it can get pretty useful , again unless you dont like hitting creeps .
Who knows maybe a pacifist is playing a Battlemage . Ok jokes to the side lets continue this brilliantly dumb guide .
Next on the line we have Onslaught . The one skill that can get as overpowered as nothing else 🙂 . I mean not only it gives you bonus % damage per charge , with its synergies it gives you attack speed , move speed , armor reduction , and reduces damage taken . So yeah maxing this tree is pretty useful . Hamstring is very good when fighting bosses since its armor reduction , and Ardor will help you with attack speed if you lack some .
Next we have Dodge Attack whos name says it all . Max it so you can dodge more attacks , both melee and ranged . Then we have Battle Standard which really is a flag that gives you offensive ability and something really nice , and thats + 1 to all skills . And belive me that +1 is very nice . With its synergy it will also decrease enemies physical damage , stun and damage resistance , making it very useful against bosses , and if you have Hamstring , well lets just say it will be easier .
Ok so what kind of WARfare mastery wouldnt have something called WAR wind . A skill that gives you good ” splash ” damage . By splash I mean it attacks up to 4 enemies around you . A lower levels it decreases your damage , but by level 8 it will give you 10 physical damage . It synergy can be very useful when playing an Assassin but here it will only make them get DoT bleeding damage . Can prove useful but I leave it to you to decide .
Another WAR skill is War Horn , which is pretty neat skill when a lot of mobs attack you , and you know that fighting all at once would be doom . It stuns an enemy for ( at max level 1.5 – 6.5 seconds) . Not only that it stuns them , with its synergy it will decrease their health and armor making them ( sometimes ) one hittable . Bare in mind that War Horn has 0/10 points and it only gives you more seconds of stun , so you dont have to level it to 10/10 to make it good . But its synergy should be leveled as far as it can get .
So these were the skills I personally used with my Battlemage . But here are some other very useful skills . Battle Rage gives you more offensive ability and physical damage ( at max level which is 12 max of 62 physical damage ) . It synergies are mostly for attack retalation or something like crushing blow . Bare in mind it has 8% of activating so don’t get jumpy if it doesn’t proc as much as you would like .
Ancestral Horn is also a cool skill but I as melee Battlemage didn’t use it and I gotta say it all went pretty smooth . It summons up to 5 warriors to fight for you . At max level , which is 16 , they have 1000 hp and do around 130 – 180 physical damage .
Ok now lets go on to the second mastery which is Earth .
First and very useful skill is Earth Enchantment . It gives you bonus attack ( fire ) damage . With its synergies it will give you burn damage ( another DoT ) , and bonus armor along with bonus fire resistance . And we all know how our heroes like resistances . Heat Shield gives you damage absorb , protection from fire and 15 % damage resistance at max level . Now one skill that I like a lot is Stone Form . Why ? Because you turn into stone duh ! Seriously it turns you into a stone , making you almost impossible to kill by granting you major health regen . Per second .
Its synergy is not that useful but can come in handy . It retaliates fire damage back to the attacker .
Ok now to the real thing Summon Core Dweller . A big , rock looking , fiery … thing , that follows you and kicks enemies arses . Its pretty good tanking ability is very nice , with lack of some physical damage . At max level ( which is 16 ) it has around 1617 health . But with its synergy called Metamorphosis it gives him + % on health , armor protection , armor absorption and elemental resistance ( fire , earth , wind , water , oh sorry or in Titan Quest Fire , Lighting , Cold ) . Making it the ultimate tanking summon in game . Also Inner Fire gives him more damage , health regen and total speed .
Ring of Flame ( I thought it was Ring of Fire by Johny Cash ) . This is one of those invest one point into main and max it synergy skills . Meaning the skill alone can be good , but pretty much useless . But it synergy Soften Metal kicks ars , dealing damage , and reducing enemies armor and physical damage .
Volativity basiclly gives you more fire damage . It has 33% to proc giving you + % fire damage , up to 178 % .
Again those are all skills I used but again here are some other useful skills . Eruption , fragments when casted dealing ( of course fire ) damage to enemies . Other are not useful to melee Battlemage and I wont put them here .
Attribute Points
So melee Battlemage has most use of strength and dexterity so their points should be 2 strength : 1 dexterity . Even tho it has low health investing into health is not needed , since you can find nice items , enchant them , and get more heath without loosing much needed attribute points .
Items
For me this was the hardest part of this guide . I ll start with artifacts .
Basicly any artifact that gives you bonuses for either of the masteries is good . Bonus fire damage , offensive ability , resistances ( of course ) . For start Earthen Talisman or Molten Orb
can prove pretty useful , and you will be able to use them for further artifacts . If nothing else try making Shroud of Ethernal Night .
Then later on the two artifacts that cought my eye were either Dragontounge or Kingslayer both very useful , since both gives +1 to skills in either Warfare or Earth mastery .
Ok then there are relics . One of the best usable relic on your weapon would be Prometheus Flame , since it gives you bonus fire damage . But also there are some life stealing relics that are pretty useful . As for armor its simple , and kinda like any other toon . Armor + , resistances + , stats + . Basiclly your choice .
Ups , downs and tips
As any other toon Battlemage has it ups and downs . You can get pretty easy shattered by enemies due its low surivability . Play with more tactics , don’t be rambo and rush into million of mobs then wonder how did you spawn at rebirth fountain . This is not Conqueror and it doesn’t tank , he lets his Core Dweller do it 🙂 . Don’t get mad if you Battlemage is potion adicted , all of them are . Care about your mana it can get wasted pretty fast . Try getting Core Dweller as soon as you can . Also Battle Standard you way to , and against bosses . Use it as much as you can . If there is a bigger fight use it , its only a skill and it can save your ars . Farm . I know that all toons farm for their gear but Battlemage is one very gear depended toon . Attack speed will make your Dual Wield process more , so try getting some , even at cost of damage ( swords ) .

Petmancer Illusionist 101:
This is part guide, part resource manual. The petmancer illusionist is very straightforward (at least the path I took). This build starts out and in fact plays almost all the way through Normal as a straight Wanderer. Tyr made a great guide for beginning Wanderers. I would recommend anyone thinking of playing a petmancer start there, it has some great ideas for early on.
The end gear load out has 2 options. The first is -100 recharge. The second is more for resists. The difference between the two sets, is two items. Crest of Hypnos and Legendary SBC’s vs Helm of your choice and Archmage Clasps. They are the same for the rest.
Another point worth mentioning. Just because I am writing down these thoughts to share with others in the hopes that they might help someone, or spawn a new idea for someone, does not mean I know everything about this class. I also wouldnt tell anyone how to play. Whatever works for you is great. Whatever mods or none at all, is great. Please give everyone who responds to this post the same courtesy.
You will note in the later sections I level up as much as possible in Normal, taking my time, running zones over and over for max xps. (A perfect example of this would be the graveyard right before Sparta. Nice spawn of xps just waiting to get mowed down) I do this as much from habit as from common sense. The build is a solid one, and very very slow to move into the Rogue talents. Depending on your playstyle, and how fast you like to finish the game, you might be in the middle of Epic before adding skills in. The reason I went straight Wanderer till the upper 40’s was simple. Trying to spread points between pets, plague, traps, heals and briar just didn’t work. You end up with a jack-of-all-trades that is weak. Concentrating on Wanderer and then respec’ing the toon will allow easier leveling, and far less headaches.
The illusionist was an interesting idea. I have read in more than a few posts the toon is weak. It isnt. I took 2 basic ideas, combined them, and made them work together. The first is obviously the Petmancer, and Tyr wrote an awesome guide for it. The 2nd idea came from Kike, if somewhat indirectly. He played a summoner hiding behind briar while dropping fire on top of the bad guys. I thought the briar would be a great backup in case the pets and traps let anything get past. And SpoonBender was born.
Last, this isnt a hypothetical pipe dream. This isnt theory. This is the actual journey of a young Illusionist named SpoonBender. Each section follows his changes and growth.
ATTRIBUTE POINTS:
This illusionist build is caster based. Even though this toon is technically a hybrid. I wanted enough Int to wield a Ritualist staff and wear caster gear. That meant I needed just under 500 Int. Everything else I put into Dex for a very simple reason. DA. Even though this is a caster, I like having as much DA as possible to toughen up the toon. Also, keep in mind if you don’t use the recharge build, some of the points into Dex will need to be moved to Str to wear the SBC’s. By level 55, I was looking for these base values.
Str: 50 (untouched)
Int: 340
Dex 210
Keep in mid those are base values, not the values after masteries and gear are added in
GEAR:
End gear load out atm includes:
Ritualist Staff of Immortality.
Ritualist Rings X2 (socket with demon blood +Vit comp, socket other with MKT +DA comp)
Ritualist/Convocation Amulet (socket with Dionysus +DA comp)
Ploutons (+skills +DA +pierce resists)
Hallowed Shaman. (swap with Crest of Hypnos if not using the recharge build for better resists)
ArchMage Clasp (-recharge is needed. Swap with SBC’s if not using the recharge build)
Demonskin Walkers (+skills +resists)
Talisman of the Jade Emperor great resists and gives -25% recharge.
Levels 1-5
Early on, wear anything you like. Or run around nekked. Really wont matter. The only things you *will* need are the 4 items of +pet damage gear. 2 rings, an amulet and a staff. Just make sure you have all of one type of damage. Dont mix and match, it will lower your overall dam output. And stay away from vitality damage. Undead have 100% resists to vitality.
Levels 5-15
Rings are Beastcaller of Endurance, socket with Dionysus (+str comp bonus). This gives you an extra 200 hps early on. Amulet was same, Beastcaller of Endurance, socketed the same. Somewhere around level 14 jump to your next set of +pet dam gear (SpiritCaller). Level 11 gives you the first minor twink, SBC’s. Helpful to summon 3 wolves when a Mastery shrine is not nearby. Etheral leggings socketed with Hermes sandal makes you quite speedy for getting where you want to go. Wraith cage and Etheral clasps other greenies Spooner was wearing at low levels. Found a Bandit Hood early on, and would have been great if I had the extra points to put into rogue skills early, but didn’t.
Levels 15-28
Upgrade your gear to help with resist/stats as needed. No specific choices in here. I was using Bandari and Bai Hu gear. I did socket my head gear with Erebus to get 3 wolves without a shrine, and without changing gear. What can I say, I am a lazy player 😀
Levels 28-40.
Got the 2nd to last upgrade for jewelry and staff here. Got smacked around pretty hard late 30’s. I didn’t shop for gear in that range. I was hanging on, waiting for my end gear set which started to kick in at 42.
Levels 40-45
Level 42 and you have the last upgrade to pet gear. By this time, you have maxxed SoTP, and I recommend your last +pet damage gear focus on physical damage. . The build is centered around your pets, and pet damage. Those Ritualist rings that give the pets +70 dam are awesome. But they also mean you are not wearing Hale of Grace rings to boost Str/Dex to wear +3 SBC’s. You will need to save a few points to wear Legendary SBC’s if you have a set you want to wear. Slowly you are adding in the gear listed at the top of this guide.
Levels 45-55
Finishing touches on gear load out. Upgrade artifact and toss on a Crest of Hypnos at level 53, and you are a God(ess) until you enter Legendary (and even after).
Levels 55+
Level 55 is the last change. If you are going with the recharge build, you need the Talisman of the Jade Emperor for the -25% recharge. The resists don’t hurt either. I got lucky on mine, and I got the added resists as a completion bonus. So that single item gives me 68% elemental resists. Very helpful for when you enter Legendary

SpponBender is a Petmancer. All the way. Maxxed out COtW by level 7. Does not matter if I cant get the extra +2 to toss out 3 wolves immediately (although that isnt hard to do either, a well placed mastery shrine and my level 7 Wanderer can toss out 3 wolves. And 3 level 18+ wolves means you are literally walking though to the end of A2 doing nothing except stopping to loot the corpses

Climbing the Nature tree,2 points into Mastery, and 1 point into critical skills.

Maxxed Nature tree by level 17, adding points into SoTP, HoO and heals. Forget the Nymph. Don’t have the extra points to use her. I went heavy into the healing tree to make sure the 3 wolves stayed alive once I had them up.

Maxxed trees, maxxed out HoO, and added more points into healing. Along with the +skills gear, enough to keep the wolves alive to end of game. Time to start adding points into the traps.
Levels 40-48 (A3 Following the Yellow Brick Road to the Emperor)
Continuing to level up traps. Much of the time, by the time I tossed out the traps, even using +100 casting speed, the mobs were already dead. That’s ok, because it wont stay like that forever. Level 48 and the traps are finished. I skipped the plague line for now, for the same reason as the traps were not that useful at this point. By the time I plagued a mob or group of mobs, they were dead or dying.

If you are going to use the recharge build, you need to respec. Drop the healing line in favor of Briar. Sorry to any PETA members, but the wolves can be replaced instantly, and I like the idea of an extra layer of protection protecting my backside.. lol.
Final Thoughts of the Journey:
Spooner leveled quite easily thanks to the wolves. This build isnt a super fast boss killer. In fact Charon and Typhon both managed to kill all the pets. Hades went down super fast, and with no losses. Go figure. Once the build was finished, it was quite fun to play. Do the whole turtle thing (hide inside Briar) toss out traps, wait for mobs to foolishly charge in and die. Slower than some toons as far as hours played / completed game, but very safe once build was set.
I did the build to see how it played as much out of curiosity as because BeRad decided to start up a new guide list, and I didn’t think the Illusionist would have a bunch of people lining up to do the guide 😀

I realized a lot of players didn’t have much love for melee earth builds. But i really liked my battlemage so decided to go for a juggernaut this time. I looked for a good juggernaut build on the net but only found a few.
I decided to start this guide when i completed act 1 on normal difficulty so the guide isn’t very detailed for act 1.
Ok so i looked tried to look at why this build is called a juggernaut, what can he has that other builds don’t?
The answer i came up with is armor! With the combination of stone skin, battle awareness and rally he can have the best armor protection from all the characters in the game. So my goal is to make a high armor protection, high health regeneration character with 100% shield block and -100% shield recovery time and to make all this work he also has to have low spell recharge time. So lets start.
This thread gave me some ideas for the juggernaut so you can consider it an upgrade. If you find any mistakes let me know, feel free to comment.
First you have to decide with which mastery you want to start with, i say go with earth first, reasons are:
Earth master is really fun early on, fire damage is really effective because mosters have low resistances so you can make the best use of ring of fire and level up quickly. We play because we want to have fun also and i don’t find defense mastery fun to start with but thats just my opinion.
Ok so at level 2 choose earth mastery, put 2 points in earth mastery and 1 point in earth enchantment. Pick up a torch as soon as you get one and see the monsters flying :p
Level 3 put 2 points in earth mastery and 1 point in ring of fire so it should look like this

I didn’t gave defense mastery much importance on act 1 except that i maxed out armor handling as fast as possible.Shields have very little chance to block, early on shields are only good for providing bonuses and once i a while block a little damage imo. The primary reason i’ll be using quick recovery on act 1 is because of his bonus 10% armor absorption.
So concentrate on maxing ring of fire and always take a look at merchants to see if they have better armor to sell
Edit: I didn’t use batter for this build but with more experience I think it’s worth putting 1 point in it as soon as you can and 1 point in rend armor later on not more. It will Increase your damage. You can later buy the skill points back.

I had items that gave me +2 to defense skills so this may vary a little bit.
i decided to invest in pulverize first because it allows me to hit up to 3 opponents. you should try to maximize your chance of using your shield to deal damage so if you have + skills items put points in pulverize till it reaches level 6, at level 7 u gain just 1% better chance so better put points in another skll like shield smash, you will get 2% chance.

A little tip, use rally as often as you can i.e. during and between battles, it will save you a few potions and will help you against damage over time attacts like poison.
Decided to put 3 skill points in inspiration as the monsters start hitting pretty hard and i want rally to last longer.
I found a Stheno’s wisdom of focus in the minoan labyrinth by killing a fire gorgon. Didn’t even know this item existed.

maxed inspiration. I decided to start investing in defiance for several reasons, i had crappy resitances and to increase my damage output by reflecting a portion of damage recieved. It also allows me to do damage even if i am in stone form. A good combo is casting eruption then go in stone form while under the effect of rally.

Died for first time by manticore. I can’t believe i let this thing kill me. The biggest problem with the manticore is its biting attack that does damage over time. Try to avoid this and his blast. Use a scroll of the djinn. cast quick recovery, rally, colossus form and cast eruption under it and shield charge. Avoid its nasty attacks and repeat.

After you kill the telkine add the 2 skill points to iron will to max it.

EDIT: On act 3 you get access to monkey king trickery and shen nong relics. Socket your jewelry with MKT and weapon with shen nong if you want. It will increase the effectiveness of your attacks

To be safe use a greater scroll of elemental shielding when fighting the chimera.
Decided to sart maxing earth enchantment as i felt i had good survivability, remember always look for better items from merchants and mosnters. Wanted my eruption to do more damge for boss fights. As far as killing mobs is concered eruption as it is, is very powerful.

A little tip for fighting the yerren boss of the mystery in the mountains quest:
Cast rally, shield charge him, cast eruption and go in stone form. He will cast his ice meteor and will almost kill himself because of the damage reflected and eruption will finish him off. Easy game 🙂

Ok cast quick recovery, rally and collossus form. Also use a scroll of elemental shielding, shield charge the beast and cast eruption, though it wont hurt it much, keep pounding the bull till it dies, use stone form when he uses his sick fire spell, you’ll know when to use it, you’ll see your health drop rapidly.
Used a greater scroll of stalwart alliance against act 3 telkine
Level 52 when fighting typhon, died for a second time…. Ok i recomend using a greater scroll of elemental shielding and there is no shame to run away and wait for your skills to recharge, this could prevent you from dying, i should have done that the first time myself:p

I decided to put 3 points in colossus form to battle the grey. After defeating them remove the 3 points from colossus form and put them in stone skin, also remove one point in defensive reaction and put it in stone skin. I thought it would become more important to invest in better armor protection at this point, my aim is now to max stone skin.

Got 2 myrmidon’s skullplate with about 530 armor on epic! This is strange. I think this must be an error and this should be the legendary one, since the legendary one give around 230 armor, am not sure of the exact number.
Maybe I did not repeat it enough but having the heaviest armor possible is very important for a juggernaut so keep looking for those on sale, but do not sacrifice good bonuses just for better armor, also if you find a good one you may want to attach an udjat of horus relic to it, this is the most important relic for the juggernaut in my opinion and you should be farming for those.any relic or charm that gives bonus % armor protection is good for the juggernaut.
Level 54 before fighting Cerberus
Maxed stone skin with the +2 skills from dust of the titan quest. Used a grester scroll of the djinn to fight cerberus, it wasn’t that hard as it was with my battlemage, in fact it was pretty easy, the importance is poison resistance and not to walk on the cracks on the floor and also avoid this ball of poison that he throws.

Try to reach level 55 before doing the acenean pass quest, then put 3 points in battle awareness. This will increase armor, defensive ability and radius which will help the 4 archers you will get to stay alive longer. Also use a greater scroll of the djinn to help you in this quest. I am always cautious when doing this quest because it was the first quest i failed completing numerous times with my first character wich was a battlemage, had to exit the game and start over.

I have to say that undead typhon was pretty easy, no much of a challenge..
Was pretty tired but played a little nonetheless, tries to finish the game in epic. was distracted and was killed by a group of those spear weaving demons, that was really stupid, didn’t cast any of my skills and didn’t even looked at my life bar and forgot to take a potion pfff……..
Well when guess i was doing something wrong tonight because i met with a dactyl; and died twice against him, fist didn't have rally and quick recovery, was still recharging, and went up to fight him, didbt cast eruption as well, i got killed even in colossus form, second time was pretty much the same, then came back with quick recovery and rally so he can taste a bit of his own medicine, cast and eruption and smased him, he ended up killing himself.
Finally faced Hades, used a greater scroll of the djinn. I got to say i was dissapointed, this guy was not even a challenge, i never flt in danger with my juggenaut, the dactly was more of a challenge, really. For his first form no need to use colossus form, just use a scroll of the djinn, cast qucik recovery and rally, shield charge him and cast an eruption. When he transforms then you cast colossus form because of the spiral he casts on the floor, it hurts a bit. His third form is the easiest he wont hurt you much.
Thats it end of epic
Ps. Since its pretty easy to defeat Hades you can make some runs on him before starting legendary to get some good stuff.

Just a few quick notes that may help:
I am interested in hearing CONSTRUCTIVE criticism for the build.
This build does not make your Ranger a tank, if you think you can follow this and then run up to Hades and stand still for even a second you are in the wrong place. This character is very mobile and relies on distraction and speed to stay alive. He also works well in multi-play with tanks that are happy to charge in and take the heat while you rain death from a distance.
I use potion stacking mod in defiler. I don’t think this really changes the game at all as I only carry a max of 20 potions at once anyway.
I also use TQ vault for storing all my lovely loot and I unashamedly will change the bonus on a relic to suit my needs before attaching it to my armour.
Rings and amulets aren’t mentioned in this guide neither are artefacts. I have changed these so much through out my game that I cant really suggest a specific one to look for other than if you find a ring that adds to dex and piercing its probably worth keeping.
I will farm for an MI sometimes for hours to get it to drop legitimately with no unique chance mods on. I then justify going to the shopMI map and buying the same MI with the prefixes and suffixes that I want. I cant be bothered farming revenant plate for weeks just to find the ‘perfect’ one. If you consider that cheating then so be it.
Stat allocation for this class is very simple, just 1:1 Strength and dex.
LVL 2
Choose Hunting for your starting mastery and find/purchase a decent bow and yellow or green armour as soon as you can.
LVL 8
Upon reaching level 8 you will probably be at Sparta which is a perfect place to farm for your first MI the Brigand Bow. Boar riders don’t show up around here very much but if you are determined to get an OP bow early in the game this is the first location that you will likely be able to find it.
Just load, run around looking for boar riders and Pillagers (they have a fire effect on their attack) kill them, look for a green brigand bow on the ground, rinse and repeat. Statistically, after killing about 300 you should have a Brigand bow. I personally like to farm around the Crisaeos Falls area for this (just past the blacksmith).

When it comes to your skills place 2 points on the tree and 1 point per level goes to marksmanship, wood lore and drop 1 point on AotH your skills should look something like this…

By level 17 your hunting tree should be full yay! As you have gone up in levels you should drop 1 point on to Study prey(RMB), puncture shot, scatter shot, find cover and trail blazing with 4 points on volley and another point on wood lore.

LVL 25
By now you should be on the fourth tier of the nature tree with 1 point on heart of oak (gives you more speed and health). wood lore and volley should be maxed and marksmanship should be 6/12.
If you are not in act II yet you are probably nearly there. boss Fights will still be tricky with this toon as he will need to ‘kite’ bosses to avoid getting hit using study prey to soften them up a bit when you do manage to hit them.
Your toon should also be sporting their second MI the Stonebinders cuffs, these can drop from big gorgons like the 3 gorgon sisters or the fire, venom or blue ones, there is a great place to farm in the Minoan Labyrinth here…

With those Stonebinder Cuffs equipped you will now have +1 to all skills meaning every skill that has just 1 point on it will now have 2 when you wear these handy things.

Assuming you are now in act 2 and have killed the beast of legend your skills should look like this (when not wearing +skill items).

I like to use herbal remedy for its boost to health regen and poison resistance. It lasts quite a long time and when it goes off just cast it on your toon again. This will hopefully reduce the amount of potions your toon will have to drink.
LVL 30
As you progress through act II you should stop at the Fayum oasis to farm your next MI the ‘Eldritch Bow’. the Demons holding bows riding hyenas drop these so farm Iznu into the ground until he finally yields this awesome bow to your greedy toon.

Nearer to the end of act II you will come to an area called The valley of Kings, this will be home for a long time for your toon as he farms Gilded Dead for Revenant Gear. As I said in another thread…
“Firstly, get xmax monsters; the more gilded dead the better so if you can wade through 15 or so GDs at a time I highly recommend xmaxing to save time on farming runs.
Secondly, farm at the Valley of the Kings; I found starting at the portal and working around anti-clockwise till Ramses tomb the most GD populated route. Finish your run with a run down Rameses tomb killing any GDs in the room on the left off the big room. I then like to go kill the telkine while I’m down there usually to take out my frustration at not finding any Revenant drops (again). lol. after this exit to menu and start again.
Thirdly, farm with a friend; it helps to make runs faster if one of you drop a portal before entering a tomb then when you get to the end just throw up a portal and jump back to the entrance. It saves so much time.
Additionally, playing with someone noticeably increases your chances of getting MIs to drop.
And finally, keep doing it over and over and over; eventually it will happen. I had done over 20 runs before getting my first legendary Revenant to drop.”
With a complete set of revenant armour you should be sporting a whopping +4 to all skills making everything with just one point now have 5 that’s a 400% return on your skill point investment. Additionally, your volley and woodlore will be 4 points over max (I call it mega-Max).

It will now be a cake walk to act IV.
In boss fights use your monster lure to distract while you use study prey to tear your foes undies out through their nose.
Now that you are level 30 you should be finished building both skill trees. from now on you get to use all 3 points on skills JOY!

Now you should be at the end of act IV and the proud owner of a crystal of erebus which hopefully has +1 to all skills (if your doesn’t just change it in TQ Vault) this creates a slight dilemma as maxed skills can only go 4 points past the ceiling to reach mega-max that means any skills we have maxed are now wasting a point, time to visit a mystic.
I like to remove all my items with +skills and then visit the mystic that way its easier to see what your skills really are, at this stage you should only have to shave a point off two or three skills to bring them 1 point below max. for example wood lore should now be 5/6 when not wearing armour.
Now that you are in Epic difficulty your Nature tree just became a lot more useful so after shaving a few points here and there invest 2 points in Call of the Wild which when wearing your gear should allow you to summon 2 wolves. additionally, drop a point on Permanence of Stone this will give your toon some much needed survivability against elemental assault.
If you feel like upgrading your bramblewood bow to a Epic Brigand Bow then go for it but I found that my Bramblewood was still dishing it out to everything in my path in act I epic.

This extra point will send you back to the Mystic for yet another round of point shaving so that you skills should look like this…

By now your toon will be in act IV and hopefully well on their way to picking up a lovely Bramblewood Bow.
Advancing to this point has allowed us to start using Call of the Hunt and more importantly its synergy exploit weakness. Your 3 wolves should be howling a lot too. Boss fights will be pretty easy from now on, simply run in drop a monster lure, plague, Study prey and Call of the hunt then hit the boss with some arrows and watch him suffer.

Welcome to legendary, You may need to sort out your relics to make sure you are at least close to zero in elemental and pierce resistances at the start. Poison wont really be a problem because herbal remedy take good care of that. Progress through making sure to pick up a nice Brigands Bow on your way through act I.
What is worth noting is that you should also collect a Legendary pair of Stone Binders Cuffs by the end of Act I adding yet another +1 to all skills bringing our total to +8, this does mean yet another round of point shaving at the mystic but not to fear, the mystic cost caps out at 45k and by this stage of the game you should have tens of millions thanks to all the junk sold off during the farming of MIs.

LVL 62 onwards
By level 62 your Build will be complete by applying the finishing touches to your Nymph to max her out.
Pick up another eldritch bow from Inzu and collect your final set of revenant gear (minus the gauntlets) which will consist of…
Revenant crown (hallowed) with a crystal of Erebus = +4to all skills
Revnant Plate = +2
Revnant Greaves = +2
which combined with our Legendary stone binders cuffs leaves us with +11 to all skills. Now its just rediculus it basicly means you can max every single skill in both trees and still have extra skills lying about so you can have a tree that looks like this…

This however is a little silly because some skills are virtually useless to your Ranger namely detonate, take down and ensnair. You can quite easily replace the crystal of erebus with another relic that offers better resistances and still maintain a helthy +10 to all skills meaning you will have to focus a little more on the skills you will actually use. looking more like this…

It should be a pretty easy march to defeating Hades from now on. As your character advances in level you will be able to shed more and more revnant gear and start replacing it with your favourite MI’s or purples.

The first thing to go for me was the Stone Binders Cuffs, I swapped them for Ismenes bracers found in act 4.
By level 75 you will only need +9 to all skills or +8 if you dont like briar ward
I just wanted to start a little note for alternative equipments as I have realised that not everyone is overly keen about farming for MIs constantly lol.
This guide is more like a ‘best case scenario’ guide, in reality it wasn’t till I hit legendary that I actually settled in for a month to farm revenant gear. Up till then I used a combination of greens, blues and purples.
Bandits Hood – one of the first epic items I used. I’m sure your thinking ‘but that’s for rogue mastery’ but even without the +to skills 45 armour and 20% more piercing damage at at level 10 still makes this item very useful for early game.
Charioteers Quiver – I used this epic armour all the way till act 4 normal, I found this item in a bone pile in act 2, it just pays to check every chest even if its just a measly bone pile.
Jungle root greaves – very handy epic with +skills to nature and some nice retaliation.
Tendon Ripper – This epic bow can be found in act 2 and will serve well all the way into act 4.
Teucers Warbow – I had this drop right at the beginning of Epic difficulty and I used it all the way up to act 4 where I replaced it with a Bramblewood Bow.
Druidic Wreath – I used this artefact for a long time mainly for the +to nature for getting 3 wolves out in epic.

This is the actual journey of a young Ritualist named IsleWitch (I am a Terry Brooks fan). Each section follows her changes and growth.
ATTRIBUTE POINTS:
The Ritualist is a caster based build. Both Nature and Dream boost int, and give a smattering of str and dex. The little bit of Str and Dex was not enough to wear top end SBC’s without a top end Artifact that I currently dont have. So I concentrated on Int based items. By level 50 I wanted to have the following base stats for end gear sitting in the Vault.
Str: 50 (untouched)
Int: 310
Dex 102
Keep in mid those are base values, not the values after masteries and gear are added in. I needed 550 Int for Ritualist Staff, and mid to high 400s for much of the Legendary purples. The base value of 102 in Dex allows me to meet the max requirement of 174 dex for top end mage gear.
GEAR:
As a petmancer Ritualist, you will find your stats lean towards Int. You get a smattering of Str and Dex from the masteries, but not enough to make any real difference. And without a top end Artifact (I have only farmed about 12-15 Artifacts so far. I am missing over 2/3rds of them presently) you wont be wearing any SBC’s anytime soon. Which is disappointing, but not the end of the world.
(Edit: After much farming with my Bown Charmer, I located a few more top end Artifacts. Toth’s Glory with it’s -20% to requirements *might* be enough to wear SBCs, but I will have to create a test toon to verify. But one has to wonder, at level 55 is it really needed? The build is mostly complete. The +5 skills (+3 SBCs +2 other gear) is nice, perhaps allowing a 2nd aura to use used but no massive changes otherwise.) In any event, my end gear load out atm includes:
Ritualist Staff of Harrowing.
Ritualist Rings X2 (socket with demon blood +DA comp)
Ritualist/Convocation Amulet (socket with Dionysus +DA comp)
Ploutons (+skills +DA +pierce resists)
Crest of Hypnos (incredible stats. No other mage helm is even close. Besides, it just looks cool.)
ArchMage Clasp (-recharge is nice. Bluntly, didn’t have a better idea here)
Demonskin Walkers (+skills +resists)
Probably Talisman of the Jade Emperor, allowing max resists and along with Archmage Clasp offers -70% on recharge. Useful for when those wolves get killed by AoE’s, or to spam Plague.
Levels 1-5
Early on, wear anything you like. Or run around nekked. (At level 5 IsleWitch was nekked except for the SnowBall.) Really wont matter. The only things you *will* need are the 4 items of +pet damage gear. 2 rings, an amulet and a staff. Later on, those rings and amulet will make you grumble, but more on that later. I wont debate the finer points of damage type, elemental or physical. Just make sure you have all of one or the other. Dont mix and match, it will lower your overall dam output. And stay away from vitality damage. Undead have 100% resists to vitality. And Ritualists lack the DeathChill aura to counter that ability, and early on, ShenD and MKT relics are not available.
Levels 5-15
Still nekked except for jewelry and a staff. Rings are Beastcaller of Endurance, socket with Dionysus (+str comp bonus). This gives you an extra 200 hps early on. Amulet was same, Beastcaller of Endurance, socketted the same. Somewhere around level 14 jump to your next set of +pet dam gear (SpiritCaller). If you feel like some fun twinkage, you can always grab a set of Revenant gear. You will need a bunch of Herakles relics to put into a ‘trash set’ to get the str needed, and then a couple more socketed into the Revenant gear to keep it on. Dont waste attribute points to wear this gear. It isnt worth it over the long haul. But having +3 skills at level 15 is fairly amusing to be sure, it also means you will most likely have to respec when you get to mid 40’s and the end gear of this journey.
By level 5, IsleWitch had the trash gear setup already, socketted with Herakles Might and a Wraithguard artifact. This allowed her to boost str to 198, more than the 186 needed for +1 revenant gear. That was Str boosted by items only. All attribute points went to Int to wield the Beastcaller of the Magi staff she has. Wearing Revanant gear will put the char on ‘cruise control’ for the skills section, allowing faster progression up both Mastery trees, and only 1 point into critical skills.
Levels 15-28
IsleWitch was wearing Revenant gear to allow faster progression up the masteries. If you decide not to do this, concentrate on Nature and ignore Dream for now. You will need to start looking towards your DA and resists a little at this point, but still nothing overwhelming. Another jump in +pet dam gear at 28. Also, with Epic relics being available at level 27, you could upgrade the Revenant armor (390 str). Dont get any better +skills, but you get much better armor rating, so you take less damage when standing in the middle of a pack of mobs you just plagued..
Levels 28-40.
No man’s land. Just slogging through the levels waiting patiently for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Got the 2nd to last upgrade for jewelry and staff here. Switched to 2nd tier Revenant, glad she did too. Took a beating in the desert… but the pets were amazing. Once Mastermind was capped, wolves were rampaging for 350-400+ a pop.
Levels 40-45
This is where the game changes completely. I twink toons, and I am not afraid to admit it. I didnt spend (literally) hundreds of hours farming to *not* give my toons the best advantages. You wouldnt handicap your children by making them do everything themselves, why would you do that to your toons?
Low 40’s is where it all changes. Last set of +pet dam gear at level 42 (Ritual/Convocation) makes the wolves literal meat grinders. Add to that purple items previously farmed make you a tank, even in cloth armor. Your resists are taken care of to the end of Legendary, all you need to do it walk through the zones to get there.
Alas, the grumbling I mentioned earlier comes into play here. The build is centered around your pets, and pet damage. Those Ritualist rings that give the pets +70 dam are awesome. But they also mean you are not wearing Hale of Grace rings to boost Str/Dex to wear +3 SBC’s.
Levels 45-55
Finishing touches on gear load out. Upgrade artifact and toss on a Crest of Hypnos at level 53, and you are a God(ess) until you enter Legendary (and even after).
Levels 55+

Here I diverged a little from what others recommend. I am a petmancer, so I am *all in* when it comes to my pets. IsleWitch maxxed out COtW by level 7. Does not matter if I cant get the extra +2 to toss out 3 wolves immediately (although that isnt hard to do either, a well placed mastery shrine and my level 7 Wanderer can toss out 3 wolves. And 3 level 18+ wolves means you are literally walking though to the end of A2 doing nothing except stopping to loot the corpses) Knowing that a set of slightly used, only mildly tarnished set of Revanant gear sits in the Caravan, it’s time to race up the mastery trees, putting one point into must have skills. Regrowth, HoO, Maul, AG all have one point in them by level 10, as well as a small start up the Dream ladder.
Edit: The link shows a slightly different TitanCalc than the one I actually did. If you are going to follow this as a guide, ignore dream for now, and continue to climb the nature tree to the top and max out the wolves.
Levels 10-15 (A1-Megara)
Climbing the mastery trees, one point into ToE (not really needed, but the reflection and ATcH for the pets was a nice touch) then switching back to climb the Nature tree, placing a point into each of the synergies for the wolf tree. I dont use the FanPatch, so I ignore the Nymph. Cute to look at, but rarely stays alive in Normal. At level 15, it was off to the races, using the Revenant gear sitting in the Caravan allowed IsleWitch to put only 1 point into critical skills but still reap large benefits, while still cruising up the mastery trees.
Edit: I have started using the Fanpatch 1.17a, and it makes a BIG difference to this build. The nymph goes from being annoying to a useful, productive damage machine. The updated TitanCalcs show this…
Levels 15-20 (A1 – Delphi) Level 20

Continuing to level up important skills. Made a mistake at 42. I should have left the Revenant gear on. Instead I dropped it for ArchMage gear, and lost all my +skills. Spent 42-46 fixing the loss. Additionally, until 48 when I can wear Ploutons and Demonskin Walkers, I need an amulet everytime I summon wolves. I got impatient, and paid for it.
Levels 48+ (A4 Chillin in Tartarus — Fishsticks anyone?) Lvl 55

At this point the build is mostly complete. Max out a few skills here and there, but the build is fleshed out and working well.
Final Thoughts of the Journey:
IsleWitch leveled fast and super easy all the way though middle of A3. Mostly running into entire groups of mobs yelling “Leeeroy”. Although she denies this, saying the tabloids have nothing else better to write about this week. Middle of A3 the only problem the pets ran into was the pack leaders of the tigermen. Regular tigers and even casters were nothing. Pack leaders needed to be focused on IsleWitch to avoid casualties. Even Dragonians were dropping like flies. That most likely had to do with end gear for the pets (ritualist rings/ammy/staff). Typhon was a seriously ugly fight. Lost 5 wolves and a nightmare. I think next time I will toss out a divine Storm Witch scroll and let the harpies kick his butt.
I have to wonder if a Spirit/Nature setup isnt better. My experience with ToE was marginal. On boss fights, its great (assuming the pets live long enough). Trash mobs didn’t do enough damage to make it a great skill. A good one, yes. And Mastermind was a good skill. Brought the wolf damage from 550’s to just under 700’s. But I could accomplish that with Deathchill aura as well. Add in ternion attacks to keep the mobs focused on the toon instead of pets, it should work well. One drawback I see is Spirit being more skill point intensive than Dream. LK alone is 25+ points. But I think that will be the next build.

First of all you can read poinas’ pwning with spirit guide to better understand the power of spirit mastery.
So why choose a spellbinder instead of a spellbreaker. Well defense makes you an unkillable tank, paired with spirit mastery’s ability to kill anything in seconds you get a deadly combo. I like tank classes, not having to worry about constatly having to hit things to stay alive makes things less stressful. I mean if you go dual wield even a crow can hurt you, that won’t happen with a spellbinder, you won’t have to worry about lesser mobs.
As a spellbinder we will focus on being able to do enough damage to take down trash mobs quickly. For bosses, on legendary especially we will focus on severely debuffing and tanking them, while having a chance to one shot them, while the liche king and outsider do the big damage.
Act 1
level 2 choose spirit mastery. Since we choose spirit mastery we will lack strength early on, so favor items that give bonus strength instead of dexterity. Intelligence should be ignored. Our stat point distribution is 1:1 str/dex. But you don’t have to always use your points, keep 4-6 for the time being in case you lack strength to equip an item.
1 point in spirit mastery, 1 point in death chill aura, 1 point in life drain
About affixes you need to look for for now: look for accursed or dreadful jewleries, they give bonus vitality damage.
Also look for hardy, robust, hale jewelry to boost your strength. My setup was one robust ring, one accursed ring and one dreadful amulet for quite some time. Give vitality damage more importance for now. It will change later.
For weapons look for of feasting suffix, it gives attack damge converted to life, some vitality damage and bonus life leech. But also don’t choose this suffix at the cost of damage, go for bigger damage.
also visit the merchants as often as you can, look for honor guard’s amulet and indomitable amulets, they will be helpful in some situations. Also look for +skills amulet even though you wont need them that much early on.
level 3
3 points in spirit mastery
You should reach level 4 before getting the medicines waylaid quest if you killed all monsters till now.
1 point in spirit mastery, 1 point in vision of death, 1 point in spirit ward

There is a graveyard to the west of the guy who gives you the quest, you can test your new skills against the undeads.

I decided to put 1 point in armor handling to reduce strength requirement so I can equip the labyrinth helm.

There is one thing you can do now if you want to get more gold and improve your gear. You can make runs on polyphemus. With ravages of time, necrosis and liche king he will go down quite easily.
Now put points in necrosis till its maxed.
Got mindlash from a group of fire magi.
Got a hardened outrider’s buckler and a tough outrider’s tunic.
Once you reach the olive grove you can make runs on the spider boss. It’s really easy to reach it and defeat it. You may get some nice gear.
level 14
1 point in necrosis maxing it, 1 point in death nova and 1 point in spirit bane. There’s a lot of undeads on the way to the gorgon queens so this will be helpful

1 point in batter, 1 point in life drain, 1 point in cascade. Now max cascade when you level up.
Cascade will suck against automati and traps but it will be very effective against minotors and demons plus thanks to necrosis it will do good damage to undeads.

The last rebirth in the labyrinth is a good place to farm for mechanaical parts, venom sac and bat fag if you need these charms to complete an artifact. Reached level 19 while farming for charms, was also farming the gorgons but no luck with the stonebinder’s cuffs. add 3 points in life drain.
For fighting the minotor lord bring a scroll of the storm withches.

Act 2
As our goal is also to create the talisman of the jade emperor artifact you will have to farm for these items in act 2:
1 Arcane Formula – Song of the Serpent
1 Essence of the Udjat of Horus
1 Rigid Carapace
1 Scroll of Elemental Shielding
Now we start investing in defense mastery.
Got arcane formula song of serpent in the tomb before memphis.
level 22 before reaching memphis, 2 points in defense mastery, 1 point in shield charge

We keep investing in defense mastery, put 1 point in rend armor and 1 point in disruption as soon as you can.
Level 27 before fighting the telkine
after getting the 2 skills points from Imohtep put 1 point in battle awareness and 1 point in iron will.
At this point I made a few runs on the telkine to complete the udjat of horus relic, I also got the ardent greaves and a few other epic items including the electrum charm which gives 10% primary resistance 10% chance of 50 reduce resistance and some arcane formulas.
The telkine is very easy to defeat, I always mind control a statue from the last group of 3 statues. At this point I dont have battle awareness always on, I just activate it before fighting the telkine. Completed song of serpent artifact.

Level 28 on act 3, keep investing in defense mastery.
On this act I recommend farming for at least 1 essence of shen nong dark medicine and at least 2 monkey king trickery. It will become usefull later on.
Finally got an amulet that gives +1 to spirit skills. Wont be using it for now, am using a dreadful amulet.
Was level 29 when fighting barmanu. i had a honor guard’s amulet that I swapped for fighting him. He is very easy when you ahve good stun resistance just avoid his meteors.
made some runs on him till I reached level 30, now we have one more useful skill.

I got the epic shield flamward and shrieking helm, I also got blood stone on act2 so already have items to give me over 40% life leech resistance and fire and lightning resistance when I’ll fight typhon.
Level 31 3 points in ravages of time
reached level 32 at jade palace portal, 3 points in deathchill aura.
Defeated yaoguai very easily and made a few runs on him.
Level 33 before entering the forest of the ancients.
2 points in deathchill aura maxing it and 1 point in ravages of time. So we look like this:

For the first group of undead activate spirit ward. The automati take time more time to kill, they have very high vitality resistance i guess plus I think they must have high armor or something.. For the group of cyclops I used my indomitable amulet with demon blood, cast vision of death, shield charge, batter, life drain. I mind controlled one cyclop from the last group. I had the sacred crescent shield from the peng boss on the great wall, had blood stone ring and I bought a helm of solidity in chang’ang. So have over 40% life leech resistance and 40% energy leech resistance. I swapped these items before fighting typhon, clicked on the mastery shrine then on the energizing shrine while the cyclops was distracting typhon. Summoned a liche king and went in colossus form. Was an easy fight. Thans to deathcill aura, batter and my mountaineer’s armor typhon was really slow.
Did some typhon runs to complete my shen nong and monkey king relics. Found some epic items among those Glaevin’s breastplate, jade bracers and captain’s signet
Reached Level 34 before reaching rhodes, 3 points in ravages of time maxing it.
Act 4
On act 4 I recommend socketing one of your jewelries with demon blood, vitality resistance completion bonus.
level 35 before reaching medea’s grove, 3 points in spirit mastery

level 36 before fighting the gray sisters. 3 points in spirit mastery.
i found a keen mbuti’s advocate of the winds. That’s getting better 🙂 Socketed it with essence of shen nong dark medicine 33% slow attack bouns, it will be helpful against formicid captains.
Level 37 before completing the enemies’ captain quest. 2 points in spirit mastery, 1 point in wraith shell.
Before entering the realm of hades we will visit a mystic to but back all the points from life drain. There are a lot of range units there and for life drain to do decent damage we have to get clos to them, no longer effective at this point. I swapped my accursed ring for a hale one and socket it with monkey king trickery. swap my dreadful amulet for a defender’s one scoketed with demon blood, vitality resist bonus. With my defender’s shield I now have +2 to defense skills. Now I change my skills to this

with +2 to defense skill 1 point in pulverize , 1 point in shield smash give 20% chance of one of the shiled passives to proc. With the mbuti’s advocate and liche king I do pretty good damage. Jsut use quick recovery when there are plenty of range units.
Defeated charon very easily, he’s an undead anyway, just don’t stand on the holes in the bridge. I made a some runs on charon since he is so easy, in fact I even made xmax runs since he really isn’t a threat. I mind control a troglodyte before fighting him. I like doing boss runs but it may not be to everyone’s liking, got to level 38 while doing runs. It was worth it though, got templar’s zeal, got a grim folg of carnage from a troglodyte but most importantly got arcane formula soul shiver.
1 point in disable, 2 points in spirit mastery.
level 39 3 points in spirit mastery.
level 40
At level 40 you should already get the 2 skill points from dust of the titan quest so now we look like this

Both masteries are now maxed and put 1 point in death ward and summon outsider.
Archers hit pretty hard but we have vision of death and quick recovery to handle them. If you meet with a dactyl, remeber you can mind control them, think that’s the best strategy against them plus they really pawn.
level 41 when fighting hades, 3 points in liche king
Hades was very easy, he went down really fast, got dienekes’ iron boots from hades, made some runs till I reached level 42. Put 3 points in liche king. That’s it for normal difficulty.

About those 2 deaths. The first one was really silly, I was in the temple of marduk near a blade trap 2 djins cast squall on me and the the trap fires its blades and i got one shoted by a stupid blade trap. Think I got hit by more than one projectile. The second death was against a dactyl of course, he surprised me and I didn’t have the right reflex, I ran  In fact the easy way to deal with it is simply mind controlling the dactyl

After defeating nessus put 1 point in liche king. Got shield of the korybantes on my very first nessus run, thats a huge update at that point especially for a defender. got ring of gaia on the second run. Made a few runs and completed epic valor of achilles.
Level 43
at level 43 I got into a dilema, should i continue putting points in liche king or not. The thing is I plan on getting an epic stonebider’s cuff and Ill probably get a hallowed helm as well, also have an amulet that gives +1 to spirit skills. There are also mastery shrines. All this means I could potentially get +8 to siprit skills. So decided to put 3 points in death nova instead. You choose what you want to do anyway.

Got Atropos’ assistant, a legendary axe from a skeleton. Got blessings of the gods in a chest of the wrecked boat quest. Got bellerophon’s leggings fron arachnea.
level 44 close to 45 when fighting the gorgons. Got chieftain’s pelta, an epic shield that grants battle standard. Put it in secondary slot. Decided to start farming for a pair of stonbinder’s cuffs using xmax mod. Quickly reached level 45

Ok so I decided to farm for the missing arcane formula and relics. I got raven’s shadow from talos, it also dropped from the telikne. Decided to make xmax runs on the telkne. On my second run I got Rhesus’ Whitewashed Armor, also got polaris later on. Got arcane formula king slayer.

Bought a scroll of the djinn and completed kingslayer artifact.
On epic look for jewelry with the ..of smiting suffix. I didn’t think it was great before, 3% chance of reducing enemies health, but with a couple of those you already see a difference. Atropos’ assistant also has a 2%chance of 75% reduction to enemy’s health. You don’t have to always use the jewelry, you can just swap them during boss fights for a chance of one shotting them.

Made a couple of xmax runs on the telkine, got arcane formula jade idol and murk crawlers.
Act 3
On act 3 you will have to farm for these items:

took down the dragon liche in 2 hits 🙂 Got arcane formula ebony globe.
When fighting the dragonians make sure you have decent pierce resist, it should not be in the negative. Anyway you have quick recovery, vision of death and mind control.
I steamrolled through olympus killing typhon in like 5 seconds. The only threat are the cyclops, I had a ritual amulet but their scream is pretty dangerous.

Warfare IT / Violos; Elemental Melee Thane

wanted to share my experience about trying an elemental-based melee fighter.
The idea is not new. I’ve been sitting on it for quite a while now, tried it on Knife-Throwers, and similar things had been done by others, most notably CookieMonster.
The basic concept exists since Diablo, too – rack up a lot of elemental bonus damage per hit, then hit them as often as possible. Only that TQ requires you to focus in intelligence in order to do decent damage with *elements* alone, rather than being a hybrid.
But it was not until today, when trying what I believe to be the most feasible Build for this (Storm+Warfare), that I realized
How well it can really work
How gorgeous it looks!
I don’t have the intention or time to write a guide here, just share a few things.
First: You get to fight as a dual blade-wielding kung-fu sorceress, flipping and spinning in a dress. A dress! With clouds, sparks and blue traces all around. It’s of no further use of course, but I’m into style, and this is the most awesome-looking char I played so far. (This also influenced my choice of hat, as you can see. An impenetrable crest that raises pierce res by 80% or a Hunter’s Headdress might have been a better option, but I couldn’t pass on those glyphs and “Lightning level 100”.):)
     
Second: The lightning damage from the swords (Very fast, very light Scythians, both affixes lightning or cold, socketed with Zeus), Nimbus, items, artefact and Storm Surge really adds up to quite a bit when the Wisp is around. One Squall + Warhorn is usually enough to dispatch a group of enemies up to act 3 Legendary.
The concept is to place a squall cloud, lure a few of them into it (zap with lvl 1 lightning bolt, just for laughs), then stun and start shredding. 2.5k dps doesn’t sound too much, but is nice at max attack speed with -recharged whirlwinds.
Third: It is safer than I thought. I was expecting to get my butt kicked going melee in cloth, at least by Tiger Warchiefs or the like. But most of the time it was the other way around. The secret is to have -66% attack speed as completion bonus on one of the Zeus relics, which should have touched every enemy before they come out of stun. So all melee enemies are slow, while archers and mages are blind from squalls. And if all else fails you can still deep-freeze the lot and run.
A Paladin may be even safer, but probably not by much considering he doesn’t get the Horn and takes longer to kill stuff.

The only thing that really posed a problem were the Machae in Hades’ Palace. The archers seemed to care little about my squall, while an unlucky crit from a charging Captain would one-hit my lvl 55 toon regularly, since her DA was only about 400.
However even this is nothing that can’t be dealt with when she gets decent gear (Demon boots come to mind) and more health. And if you wish you could always switch to a staff or spells – it is an Int build after all.
EDIT
Almost forgot. This is of course the unique advantage of this char, as opposed to a strength or caster Thane: Besides more than doubled damage from Squall and Surge, you can later add *strong* Spells on top of your melee capabilities. E.g. use lightning bolt not just for the short stun, but to do real damage, thus creating a true Hybrid gameplay-wise.
I also looked through some equipment, and there are quite a few items that can raise her DA without cutting the damage by much. She won’t look quite as cool, but things like the Ixion Stone, Pluton’s armor and greaves and a Coronal of the Abyss (results in ~1200 DA) would certainly help her survivability.
All in all, a nice fun build which I for one am planning to do properly now.

Melee Thane: The middle weight
An Act by Act guild, Part 1
I have hated this class for 4 years now because I could never make it work, but after making a few enquires I have found out I was doing it wrong by miles and it was lack of understanding not the class that sucked.
Before I get to the guild I must stress this is how I have found it to work, you may know of a different way, that’s cool but read the whole guild before you try trashing it, this is not the perfect build so keep that in mind.
The reason the guide is called the middle weight is this; it has a great attack speed and a heavy hit but not as heavy as other just like a middle weight boxer, hence the name.
A few important notices: thanks to the help from guys and girls like kike, medea, shalie, asylum and others i have managed to get a thane past normal, until this point act 2 was where i gave up after normally 30+ deaths lol but thanks to the advice from these members and others i have made it now 🙂
Act1 normal:
Start out by picking warfare when you get to level 2, you will be using just warfare for most if not all of act 1 and 2, reason for this is that the toon will be a dual wielder using onslaught as main damage so it’s important to get that maxed before you add in storm. When it comes to equipment anything green you can find will be enough for act 1 normal even probably a few good yellows stocked with some good relics. Weapons would be death weaver’s legtips, these will last you till mid way through act 3 normal and you can farm for them at tegea the earliest off the purple spiders in the cave where you complete the poison spring quest.
For skills you I played Xmax so I made it to level 24 by the end of act 1 and skills looked like this:

When it comes to maxing out dual wield there are so many different views on what skills in that tree you should pick first, I’m not going to tell you how to do it because by the time you finish act 1 the whole tree is finished so pick the skills in that tree in the order you like to how you play.
Artifact I use is a Shroud of eternal night, good all round artefact for the start of the game but there are many options, however you are a melee toon so if you don’t use shroud then id use a deathrattle.
Act 1 is very easy and you will only die when you lose concentration like I often do when talking to my wife lol, I look up to answer her questions then look down and I’m mobbed and then dead lol, but the 1st act will be easy.
Act2 normal:
For the most of the act you will still be just using warfare building up your attacking power, to make it survivable as soon as you get to Rhakotis find the rebirth and then look at the shop for green equipment, if you can’t see any, then save, exit and reload until you have an upgrade on equipment. As for your weapons, the deathweavers legtips are good enough to get you to act 3 till you get to the point to find some sabertooths. Most of the skill work will be on onslaught and dodge attack and it won’t be till you hit level 33 that you finally become a thane and pick your 2nd mastery.
This is how the skills will look at end of act 2, remember I’m playing on xmax so that is why the level is higher than it really needs to be to finish act 2:

the fighting tactic you need to imply changes from in act 1 just walking around and slapping monsters with your swords, you now have to use your warwind skill, you charge into the group hopefully hitting the max number of enemies and then using dual wield going around in the circle 1 hitting the rest of their hp. This does use a bit of mana and mana potions are needed but if you use the shroud of eternal night artifact you have a small mana leach and that can be enough to get you through most mobs before you need a mana potion.
This act won’t be much of a challenge still but it does help to improve you battle style for epic and legendary and it helps you get all you main attacking skills up before you hit act 3 and things get a bit tougher.
If you can find 1 using an honour guards charm will give a boost to amour, stun resist and pierce resist as well as any extra suffix or prefix to go along makes it a nice item to have for melee toon whose worst enemy is the archer. They drop at the start of act 2 with rng fix on.
Act 3 normal:
This act will have the very 1st set items to use in it, the imperial set, drops from a whole host of enemies and almost any good chest in the act can have a bit of this set. Why this set? It has good bonuses to warfare skills and good buffs to resistances, and a nice high armour rating. The 2 sword in the set are not used I’m afraid, the set with 2 sabre tooth’s on is about 200 to 300 depending on the sabres you get dps stronger than the set complete and the bonuses resistances from the full complete set isn’t worth that much dps imo. As for the sabres themselves they will drop after you have made it into the Mongolian plateau and i often find they drop with nice suffix and prefix that stocking them with a valor is fine for now. Another item to keep your eyes peeled for is the shadow veil arcane formula. This formula is best bet to help you out in act 4 when if you get mobed the shadow wave that flows from you does around 1000 damage and is very useful and doesn’t drop you over all damage per second which is the more important figure for this toon since your about having 2 or almost 2 hits per second on your enemies.
For those fans of xmax there is a certain point where i turned this off, not because i had never made it this far but because wuso mountain is a nightmare for this toon, believe me i tried and failed but if you want to use xmax all the way be my guest and try.

Fighting typhoon, don’t bother throwing your battle standard up it will go as soon as you throw it up, run around to dodge the 1st up attacks then throw it down and it then just becomes about dodging the killer meteor moves and the thorny spike move that reflect damage back to you, a way to keep your standard alive as long as you can fight him on the max range of it to keep his ranged fire breath from hitting it and the meteors from landing on it.
Once the standard is gone he will be about 66% down on hp if he hasn’t been spamming the moves you need to stay away from so it then just becomes about kiting him when he is throwing down big damage moves then running in and hitting him till you need to kite again.
Act 4:
This is the act that makes or breaks your toon, so getting this act right will set you up nicely for when you hit epic. There will be alot of MI farming, the MIs i used are these; Flog, myrmidons skullcap, myrmidons chitin and batrachos greaves, these items will help you hit almost 1k dps when just you onslaught is maxed and when battle rage goes up it gets even better. The only non-MI i used was the gauntlets of implacable will, they have a 144 armour rating, nice resistances buffs to strength and dex, attack speed increase and offensive ability increase so they are a great item to use. The rings i used are 2 hale rings stocked with a demons blood for 50% vit resistances and monkey kings trickery for the bonuses of elemental damage resistance and the pierce resistance completion bonuses, skill distribution protection and reduction to resistance, just a great relic for this toon.
Faring spots:
Gauntlets: farmed against the grey sisters.
Greaves: farmed in the soronis against the anouran frog men.
Helm: the river styx before the bridge off the formicids.
Chest: the river styx before the bridge off the formicids.
Weapon: river styx before the bridge and after off the troglodyte.
Rings: in any store from act 3 onwards but quite common in act 4 stores.
Farm for the best item you can it makes the difference don’t just settle for the 1st 1 you find.
Relics and charms for act 4:
Hermes sandal for greaves with pierce resistance bonuses, crystal of erebus end game with resist all bonuses for helm (if you twink then you can use this as soon as you get your helm on, if you don’t twink then use a relic to boost a resistance you are low on), weapons get blades of thanatos one with bonuses damage to undead and 1 with bonuses to demons, chest gets a relic to boost resistance you are low on and amulet gets a raptors tooth for increase damage.
Skills will look like this once done, you should be around level 46 but titancalc only goes up to 6 on triumph instead of 10, yours should be 7 and that’s why the titancalc only shows level 45.

Enemies to watch:
The mache generals pack a mean punch but also they have many other strong mache archers and hero archers around them so picking them off 1st is important b4 you go charging into a pit of death.
Other than that there isn’t much to worry you, just pay attention to your hp bar and use a potion when needed.
That’s the end of normal, a few notes; i have not mentioned a stat point ratio, this is simple because i don’t know it, I’m flying by the seat of my pants on this. At the end of this i had 644 STR, 144 int and 380 dex. Resistances are 71/47/56/61/80 second page is 0/118/0/150/15, DA 528 and OA 726.
Hope this helps you start a thane and hold tight for part 2 which i should have up in a week or 2.
Melee Thane: The middle weight
An Act by Act gulde, Part 2
Congratulations you have made it to epic, before i get into part 2 i have some edits for part 1, regarding stats allocation, you are to 1:1 Str and dex until when you hold your mouse over the dex stat in character window it says 250 in white, once you have hit that value then you have all the dex you will need so pump your str. Also in part 1 i mentioned a few MIs used, these items are important because they will be used for a good chunk on epic as well, so farm for the best which for this toon would be a vets of mayhem or vets of devouring.
Now to part 2:
Act 1
Ok so we are now in epic and most if not all of your resistances are still in the plus, this is helpful science very few of your items will be replaceable for a small time. You will carry this act on much as you left the last 1, it’s all pretty easy in terms of enemies, you can still xmax even with the normal items on but until you get to the centaur war chief of Sparta i would stay off it.
Once you have hit Sparta you can do farming runs for 2 items, the blessing of the good and the Rhesus Whitewashed armour, these items will give you a nice boost to resistances and stats and they will allow you to turn back on your xmax and play with ease, the chest after the war chief is where i found these and it did take some time but it a small and easy farm run and if after 10 goes you haven’t found anything of value then exit the game fully and restart it hopefully resetting the item seed more in your favour.
Once you have found 1 or both of those items move along to tegea where you will camp here on xmax farming till you find a very good deathweavers legtip, after going from level 49 to level 51 i found the legtip i was after, a vets of devouring, but i also found an interesting axe called an Onager, if you can find 2 of these axes you will make them your secondary weapon swap. Why this axe, because it has 22 point of hp and mp regen, when both are on along with the equipment i have my hp regen is 59 and mp is 55 so in between mobs switch to these to axes and you will find mp pots are used less and with a legtip of devouring your hp pots are used less as well.
Keep on going through on xmax kicking some arse and taking some names with you thane until you come across the gorgon sisters, these are the best place to find and early set of stonebinder cuffs which will be one of the most helpful items for this toon, its base stats are +2 to all skills and around 20% elemental resistance but if you can find a really good pair because they will be on until you replace them with a legendary 1. I found a tempered of the glade set and they are most useful. Don’t worry about a relic for these until act 4.
Once you have the stonebinder cuffs equip you can go to the mystic and remove 2 points from triumph and put them into heart of frost.
Also while you’re at this point be on the lookout for relics and charms to upgrade, if you are using the fan patch like i am then you can look out for them all if not you have to skip 1 and try an alt for it. The charms and relics to look out 4 are 2 embodiment of the valour of Achilles, epic demons blood and the embodiment of Hermes sandal, that will only drop if you have the fan patch so if you don’t then i would suggest as an alt for it a prestige plumage or go it bear until act 2.
At the end of the act your skills and level will look a bit like this.

You will have 1 more point in triumph but the titancalc only goes to 6 instead of the games 10.
Bosses to watch for:
Only 1 boss gave me trouble in this act and it was talos, he has a small army around him and they destroyed my BS before i could kill all 3 of him, so my advice to you is kill the small army around him then throw up the BS and inflict a world of pain on him for being such a pain, if you have an epic demon blood then the stun he does won’t last long but if you have been unlucky and haven’t found 1 then try avoid the stun it’s easy to spot it’s when he lifts his big as leg up. Also if you do not wish to take on all 3 at once then single them out and drag each 1 up the stairs and take them on 1 by 1 to make it easier.
Now you may be wondering why i haven’t replaced all the normal equipment and the truth of it is i could find anything that could apart from there epic counter parts so i have kept them on for the time being and if they need changing then i will change but if i can make them last till there epic counter parts can be found then that’s what i will do.
Act 2:
Welcome back to the desert of act 2, my least favourite of all the acts, there is no farming needed in this act and the same setup of items used in act 1 breeze through act two, all i can say item wise is be on the lookout for anything you can, there are good formula to be found and items for other toons can be found in this act but nothing for you thane.
Level wise its slow going because you are just running through to act 3 and don’t stay long in one place you will only reach level 56 by the time you leave but that’s no problem you will still be plenty strong enough to beat the enemies of act 2 into the ground on xmax.

There is a new boss in act 2, the Manticore. In the fayum oasis there is a cave to the right of the town go all the long way to the back of the cave and that’s where you find him, once you have found him you then kill his red arse and if you’re lucky they will come at you 1 by 1 in xmax but if you’re like me and your unlucky then all 3 hit you at once, use a hp pot when that happens then throw down a BS and a squall and smash away, with a full onslaught and battle rage going and a BS up my dps was 3.5k so the devouring on the legtip kept me alive from there and in a few short seconds all 3 where dead and i moved onto act 3.

Ran through there yesterday with my Ritualist and pathing seems to be even worse that it was in the original game.  Most of the time my pets were standing around doing nothing.  It was never that great, but this seems to be a step backwards from the new team.
