World Modifications / The DreamWorld SkyCity Mod AE 2.10
« on: 15 November 2023, 05:42:22 »
Greetings fellow titan questers,

The DreamWorld SkyCity AE mod is made for Titan Quest Anniversary Edition 2.10.  When I was posting the various versions of my Cities Mod in the World Modifications area I noticed that there was a child folder labeled Frozen World.  That made me think;  maybe I should make a mod designed for children.

The usual game-play for fantasy role playing games is something like this;  Start with a dagger and little or no money or armor.  Kill some monsters, loot the bodies and take their money, weapons and armor.  Level-up.  Kill more monsters, loot the bodies and take their money, weapons and armor.  Level-up.  Much more of the same.  Kill the boss monster, and win the game.  Killing monsters and looting bodies is not what I would consider a suitable theme for children.

I have a different concept for a more child-friendly game.  I call my map Dream World SkyCity.  The player starts in a large city.  There are NO monsters in the city.  Within the city the player gets experience by exploring.  At various locations in the city the player will find Explorer Chests.  In the chests the player might find magical potions that give Experience Points.  The chests are in different locations each time, and the chests contain different items each time they open.  The area within the city is large and it will take quite a while to explore it fully.  Not all locations in the city are easy to find.  There are hidden entrances to underground caves, crypts, and mazes.  I know where to go and what to do, and it takes me about four hours to explore SkyCity, and the cities connected to it, completely.

One of the merchants in the city is the smith Teres, and he has the arcane formulas that the player needs to make the Dream World armor, weapons and jewelry.  The player will need to buy one of each type of formula.  Each formula needs three ingredients to complete the recipe.  All of the ingredients can be found within the four cities, but the player must search to find them.  When the player has found all of the ingredients for one of recipes then go the Enchanter, and he will make that item.  When the player has completed all of the arcane recipes and is fully equipped then the player is ready to venture past the city gate.

So the first half of the game is just exploring and a big scavenger hunt for ingredients. After creating the complete Dream World armor, weapons and jewelry set the player has the option of going past the city gate and fighting the monsters.  The Dream World armor set gives the ability to summon fighters to protect the player.  So when the player leaves the city the player is part of a team of fighters.  The player has the option of fighting the monsters, or just searching for the Explorer Chests while the other figures do the fighting.  I know where to go and what to do, and it takes me about four hours to explore the area below the city completely.

DreamWorld SkyCity AE is a single custom map, and the whole file is about 90 megabytes in size.  I put the mod in my Dropbox so that you can download it.

The DreamWorld SkyCity AE mod was made for Titan Quest Anniversaery Edition 2.10.  For your information, my computer had a major meltdown recently.  When I got my computer  back I had to reinstall the program, and Steam gave me the newer Anniversary Edition 2.10.  I found that there were considerable incompatibilities with my old mods.  You would think that the programmers would make an effort to make the new stuff compatible with the older stuff.  After all they don't have to do anything to make the newer stuff compatible, they just need to make the new stuff not incompatible.  Oh well, live and learn.

Sincerely,
DrGray

Greetings fellow titan questers.

I am here today to announce that The Cities AE 210 mod is now available for download.  For those of you who have not tried the older versions of this mod, let me explain why I posted my mod under World Modification.  The Cities Mod has all of the following...

Twenty-six new maps worth over 15,000,000 experience points; enough to put a character at level 44.  A map that is the regular Titan Quest Anniversary Edition game, but with all the additions I made.  An inventory map that has all the items from the game plus everything that I added.

Over twenty new armor sets.  Two super sets of armor; one with over twenty pieces, and another with over forty pieces.  Two super sets of equipment with over twenty pieces each.

Over one hundred new formulae.  Seventy-two new rings.  Twenty-one new amulets.  Four new artifacts.  New relics, some of which have a large number of different completion bonuses.

Many merchants have expanded inventories.  They might sell relics, charms, unique jewelry, and formulae.

There are over one hundred new skills, and variations of old skills, in armor and other items.

When a beginning characters goes to the TitanQuestCitiesMod~world01.map map for the first time he will not get a copper dagger, he will get an Adventurer's Ring.  The ring gives him the ability to summon an Adventurer's Kit.  The kit includes weapons, armor, rings, money and so on.  There are several kinds of Adventurer's Rings, but each character will get only one.

In all, the mod is almost five gigabytes in size.  I put the mod in my Dropbox so that you can download it.  There is a limit to the file size that Dropbox can handle.  I was forced to separate the mod into six parts.  Just download all the parts into the same folder and the parts should auto-assemble into one big CustomMaps folder. Please read the Introduction text file before you start playing.

The Dream World SkyCity mod was made using Titan Quest Immortal Throne with the 1.17c Fan Patch.  Having said that, the Dream World SkyCity mod runs just fine with my Titan Quest Anniversary Edition v1.57 with the Ragnarok addition.  Just don't select Runes as your mastery.

Frozen World / Dream World Mod
« on: 18 March 2022, 22:04:11 »
Greetings fellow titan questers,

When I was posting the various versions of my Cities Mod in the World Modifications area I noticed that there was an area for children called Frozen World.  However, there were never any posts in that area.

I decided to make a Titan Quest map that would be more suitable for children.

One of the merchant shops in the city is the Blacksmith's Armory.  The smith Teres has the arcane formulas that the player needs to make the Dream World armor, weapons and jewelry.  The player will need to buy one of each type of formula.  Each formula needs three ingredients to complete the recipe.  All of the ingredients can be found within the city walls, but the player must search to find them.  When the player has found all of the ingredients for one of recipes then go the Enchanter's Stockroom, talk to the Enchanter, and he will make that item.  When the player has completed all of the arcane recipes and is fully equipped then the player is ready to venture outside the city walls.

So the first half of the game is just exploring and a big scavenger hunt for ingredients. To Lixiss,

Good question.  I do not know.  Anniversary Edition 1.57 was installed when I bought Ragnarok.  I have not upgraded since then.  With as many problems as I have with Dropbox, I have had even more with Steam.  At this point, Steam no longer supports the operating system on the computer that I use to play Titan Quest.  So version 1.57 is as far as I am able to go.

Once again, I want to thank you for your help, and useful suggestions.

Sincerely,
DrGray

To Lixiss

I believe that you are correct.  Dropbox uses a definition of the word "size" not currently in the dictionary, and somehow includes the number of files.  I took your advise and removed the .dbr files so that part one and part two are now smaller in size and in "size."

To Lixiss,

Okay, here is what I did.  I split parts 1 and 2 into three parts; part a, part b, and part c.  So put part a, part b, part c and parts 3  through 9 into the same folder and they should auto-assemble into one big CustomMaps folder.

I do not know why some parts downloaded okay and some did not.  All nine parts are about the same size.  However, if it gave an error message that the file was too large then breaking it down to smaller pieces should solve the problem for you.  Please let me know.

I want to thank you for letting me know that there was a problem.  I want everyone to enjoy my mod, and I hope that this fix helps you and other people who have the same problem.

Greetings fellow titan questers.

I am here today to announce that version five of The Cities Mod Ragnarok that I first posted about three years ago is now available for download.  Version five has everything from the previous versions plus some new stuff, and numerous tweaks and fixes to the previous equipment.  For this version it is VERY important to read the Introduction text file.  YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

I added more skills to each mastery.  I added four more skills to each mastery; three skills at tier one and one skill at tier six.  I tried to make the new skills particularly useful to that mastery.

There are over one hundred new skills, and variations of old skills, in armor and other items.

When a beginning characters goes to the CitiesModRagnarok~world01.map map for the first time he will not get a copper dagger, he will get an Adventurer's Ring.  The ring gives him the ability to summon an Adventurer's Kit.  The kit includes weapons, armor, rings, money and so on.  There are several kinds of Adventurer's Rings, but each character will get only one.

In all, the mod is almost eight gigabytes in size.  I put the mod in my Dropbox so that you can download it.  There is a limit to the file size that Dropbox can handle.  I was forced to separate the mod into nine parts.  Just download all the parts into the same folder and the parts should auto-assemble into one big CustomMaps folder.  Again, please read the Introduction text file before you start playing.

Greetings fellow Titan Questers.  I just wanted to remind everyone that in The Cities Mod v4 the Santa's Garb is a fully playable armor set on all my maps.  You can get it in TheGalleria map.  The Garb has the armor protection and magic from the original, but I reduced the level requirement to level 1 so even beginning characters can wear it.  I added talents in each piece, including summon Santa's Elves and North Pole.  I usually have whatever character I am currently playing wear it on Christmas.  Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Sincerely,
DrGray

World Modifications / The Cities Mod version 4

Greetings fellow titan questers.

I am here today to announce that version four of The Cities Mod that I posted about two and a half years ago is now available for download.  Version four has everything from the previous versions plus item crafting, and numerous tweaks and fixes to the previous equipment.  For this version it is very important to read the Introduction text file.  YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

I have been playing Titan Quest and Titan Quest Immortal Throne for more that ten years.  I enjoy playing the game, but after the first dozen characters or so I started to get a little tired of playing just one map.  I decided to make a new map to play.  I started small, but I kept going.  I ended with a collection of maps I call The Cities Mod.   At this time, the mod consists of twenty-four maps.  The mod starts with Helos and progresses in difficulty to Hades.  In addition, there are new weapons, armor, rings, amulets, relics, sets, and skills.  This gives the opportunity to select different maps, and different equipment for each new character.  In all, the mod is over two gigabytes in size.  I put the mod in my Dropbox so that you can download it.  There is a limit to the file size that Dropbox can handle.  I was forced to separate the mod into four parts.  Just download all the parts into the same folder and the parts should auto-assemble into one big CustomMaps folder.  Again, please read the Introduction text file before you start playing.

The primary objective of the mod is to give the player options on how to play the game.  In the unmodified game there are just enough monsters and side quests so that the character will be strong enough to defeat the final Boss Monsters when he gets there.  However, that means he must kill the monsters in every roadside cave, and clear each area completely.  If he just runs down the road he won't be a high enough level when he gets to the end.  If the character goes to all of my maps then he can get over 15,000,000 experience points, enough to put him at level 44.  So, the character can skip some of the areas in the main game and make up the points using some, or all, of my maps.     A beginning character has no skills.  It takes him quite a while to get all of the skills in his chosen masteries.  Using the special armor sets I added makes it more fun because he will have some skills from the start.  Another option is to use Stonebinder relics to make his own mastery.

It is possible to go to TheGalleria and pick up some items before you start.  My sister Diana had a habit of taking a new character to
TheGalleria and equipping her character with the best armor, weapons, rings and put relics is everything with mathematical precision.  We joked about it so much that I made her a special ring to save her the time.  That is why there is a Diana's Ring in TheGalleria that is so outrageously powerful.

Another option is to use only the special items included in the main game.  My maps include an Arcane Lair close to the spawn point.  Each lair has a group of level appropriate items.  For example, the Sparta map has an Arcane Lair with level six items, which is about the level a character will be when he gets to the spartan warcamp.

An option that is available to beginning characters is that when he goes to TitanQuestCitiesMod for the first time he will not get a copper dagger, he will get an Adventurer's Ring.  The ring gives him the ability to summon an Adventurer's Kit.  The kit includes weapons, armor, rings, money and so on.  There are several kinds of Adventurer's Rings, but each character will get only one.

In version three I added more skills to each mastery.  I added four more skills to each mastery; three skills at tier one and one skill at tier six.  I tried to make the new skills particularly useful to that mastery.

The most important new option for version four is item crafting.  You can combine weapons, armor and other items with relics to craft a better item with different traits.

One time when I uploaded a mod there was a problem with the download that required fixing.  I will be grateful if someone posts a message to let me know that they downloaded everything and the mod works okay.
