I wholeheartedly agree with you on this case.. My experience with AE:R so far has almost been as the same as yours.. Yesterday, Act IV Epic surprised me with its occasional legendary drops but the rates are still far from optimized.. And yes, about that "ineffectiveness" issue.. I feel the same.. I couldn't find an optimal gear setup until I fight Charon but then I remembered his loot table includes a seemingly perfect set for my Warden (Diomedes' Armor) and I just assumed he dropped them and created those items via TQVault.. and you know what, the char is still ineffective in the offense department.. Legendary spear which almost doubled my base damage (Reach of  Helios), Glorybringer artifact which completes my +4 to all skills, Palioxis of trickery coupled with ares relic and this and that and whatnot but none of them changes the pace of the game.. a stable, enjoyable playthrough which you encounter exciting challenges and thinking about complex strategies (and actually manage to pull them) is all I desire from this game like the veterans here accomplish but as you said, I think we unintentionally ignore some of the key aspects in this game while trying to build our chars.. For instance, paying attention to looks of the gear on chars is one of them for me.. Also I try to balance EVERYTHING including secondary resistances,upping flat bleeding damage when I should probably focus on fewer but more crucial things and improve them as much as I can..

Like you said, our way of thinking and building a strategy just doesn't suit with this game (or maybe this game genre as a whole)..

I have no idea why my opinions provoked this kind of reaction.. like you say botebote, I'm just one of the "still not pro" players unlike Malgardian who has definitely much more techical knowledge about the game.. But for some unknown reason, he behaves like he has the right to insult someone who only presents his opinions about a game by concealing his harsh words with politeness.. "I'm not calling you stupid but this and that" means you're calling that person stupid.. it is simple as that and it is a type of a disguised offense in my book no matter how much you glamorize your words.. 

In any case, I want you to know there is absolutely no problem for me and I sincerely don't want to drag this argument out.. Seems like it will be better if I keep my not pro opinions to myself from now on.. I'm truly sorry for starting this discussion even that was never my intention at all botebote.. honestly...

Edit: I've realized I was wrong and took Malgardian's words/intentions in the wrong way.. I'm sorry for my clouded judgement.. Anyway, everything is fine now  :)

Yes Malgardian, I did play without the RNG fix in the past.. though I remember I quickly began to use it once I heard about the issue in the old forums..

To my surprise, today I have found a couple of legendaries in Act IV.. they appeared one after another and I was shocked and didn't want to lose that seed but had to shut down after a while because it felt like that seed changed during the course of the game (not just for legendaries but greens as well)..

Is it possible? I sometimes check inventories of merchants from town to town and they seem to store at least 3-4 greens in their vault for half an hour, then suddenly shift into yellow fetish guys and monster drops are changing in the same periods as well..

All of the legendaries dropped from the monsters BTW.. majestic chests are always shitty including the boss chests.. RNG factor for monster drop and chest drop (and even maybe merchant's stores) are separately calculated in playthroughs maybe? I mean, If I see quality items in shops, should I trust drop rates for monsters in that season of play or are they not connected through RNG?

Then how would you explain ridiculous amounts of legendary thrown weapon drops in EPIC difficulty?.. How come I never even get a Teucer's Warbow in the first part of Epic Act I when I used to get dozens of it and alike in TQIT even without farming for a single time?

No Adroit Loops.. no Ring of the Shangs.. Nothing... this is not about expecting an abundance of legendaries in Epic difficulty.. Even the epic items are nowhere to be seen.. Ok maybe the exception of some Druid's staffs here and there which I have no idea why it drops for the 10th time persistently..

They're simply introducing their new items and in exchange for that, old items' drop rates were apparently and obviously reduced to almost zero.. I'm not the only one who notices this weirdness and it doesn't matter what any database site lists what.. Real experience vs paper info.. And I believe what people experience over some numbers on a sheet..

I have a Thunderer sitting on Act II Epic right now.. In addition to what has been said, Runeword: Feather should only be necessary if you're gonna wield a shield alongside with your throwing weapon of choice..

This is what I did and I actually started as a dual throwing char but then switched to a thrown weapon + shield combo and I must say it solved a lot of problems in the defensive side.. I'm also aware about the fact of dual Thunderstrike's effectiveness but it's not gonna save your life just by itself.. or even with reckless power's procs for that matter.. Single weapon Thunderstrike is still effective enough and gets the job done..

There are some good epic shields for a rune char (especially for a stonespeaker but its not a big difference) you can find in Act V and maybe you've already found them and I also strongly recommend a "Cold essence" full charm on your arm gear with the most suitable completion bonus of your choosing..

Relics and charms from Act V really make a difference for a rune based character.. hunt for them.. I recall one of them has a flat elemental damage + elemental conversion feature which ups DPS considerably in addition to the amount you already have from Rune Weapon tree.. I don't know what would happen if you go above 100% conversion rate though..

If I remember more, I'll add them as well..

What you said maybe true on paper but there is definitely a serious reduction in epic and legendary drops in EPIC difficulty.. Be it from boss chests or regular mobs, doesn't matter.. All I get is an ocean of yellows and useless greens (even when periodically restarting the game)..

Oh, I forgot to mention the drop rates for thrown weapons.. like the person states in the above topic, I have dozens of Neit's Wills and Munnin's Grasps and this is simply a bad design..

Your description has nothing to do with RNG. You are talking about A5 drop and since you mentioned Hades I assume you also farmed A5 bosses several times.
Thanks to all items mod (and other people who digged into database), we can conclude that the majority of epic/legendary items are prevented from drop by devs for unknown reasons. Currently you can only drop new thrown weapon and new formula. For other epic/legendary items, since most epic/legendary items in this game tends to drop in one or two specific act bosses in a certain difficulty, it is easy to conclude from boss farming experience that currently you can only find new A1 items. All A5 bosses, according to previous experience, should drop mostly A5 items and some A4 items. And since these A5 items are prevented from drop, A5 bosses actually result in only drop A4 items, and at a reletively low drop rate. That explains your experience, and it has nothing to do with RNG.

I'm not sure but I think this topic justifies some of my own frustrations with epic/legendary drops in AE - Ragnarok.. I remember catching a legendary item here and there in Act I Epic almost with any char that I made back in the days of TQIT.. Regardless of the RNG factor, this was the case..I'm also a non-farmer type player I must say..

But in AE with the latest patch, weeks of playthroughs with two different chars has yielded me just one and I mean only one legendary drop so far.. A single Chiron's loop..!!

Yes, apparently the green item and MI drop frequency has been ridiculously increased for this version of the game but this is not an excuse for the new terrible drop rates for epic and legendary items.. I'm playing the game as if there are no unique gear and its extremely discouraging and annoying.. I'm really sick and tired of shopping for some green substitutes for the lesser greens on my char..

At this point, it feels like the game just telling me: Pssst, go ahead and download the community vault project file..then open your vault and relieve yourself from this nonsense..

Hey Firebrand,

I'm so glad that there are people besides me appreciate the quality and atmosphere of Act II.. To be honest, you described it much better than I did also..

Now I respectfully disagree on the statements about Act V but then again, just like you said, it is better to have various tastes.. They lead to interesting discussions afterall :)

I sometimes can't express my feelings and ideas due to the English/Second language factor and it discourages longer writings heavily, but if I accidently offend anyone, my apologies..

BTW, I think some of Act IV items are drawn in an exaggerated way like you said.. But what I can't understand is, how come anyone notices this flaw but praises the looks of Act V items.. Especially the swords in merchants' list for example.. It is beyond my comprehension but as I said, I mean no disrespect while saying this.. Maybe you like simpler and less shiny looks...

I realize that there is no info chart for total %block chance on character screen like it used to be in TQIT.. Is this something to be corrected in the future or does Nordic simply not want us to know the value? What kind of a nonsense is this!? Do you have AE? Is it the same in it too or is this another Ragnarok related Bulls...?

In the past, I used to try "dodging" enemies in the way you suggest here.. And yeah it requires a certain level of mouse work, your definitely right on that :)

Allright then... what would you suggest for a Defense + Hunting + Warfare character? I have all their charge skills in my disposal..

Ok since we talked about take down, forget that one..War Wind and Shield Charge remains.. I had Batter but did respec it thinking it wouldn't be necessary anymore.. But the thing is; War Wind seems to miss a lot especially when used as a runner attack rather than a standing attack.. It feels as if you have no OA most of the time you use it against groups.. Should I return to Batter and Shield Charge which leaves me only benefiting from Onslaught and Battle Rage from Warfare?

Definitely agree with areas of Act V being inferior to old ones.. I see some people on other sites continuously show their love for the foggy and snowy atmosphere of Act V.. Didn't Act III already accomplished that and did it in a much better way? Didn't they play the game before? Are they blind or something?

Also agree on annoying mechanics of water spirits..

Most of the enemies also look lame and are like contents from a poorly made mod rather than an expansion.. And don't even get me started with the looks of Northern items.. Could they have looked worse/amateurish than this? I wonder...

When I first arrived at Corinth, I didn't realize that I was still in Greece.. Then I saw the Spartan Commander and I was like yay!! Never have wanted to leave for North anyway..
Going through those fields connected with Act I map was really nice and somehow nostalgic.. The beautiful old music was still there instead of some new low quality theme so this was a plus as well.. But once I left Greece, everything fell apart for me (especially the new tasteless, 3rd grade quality war movie musics & "wasteland" maps which Hal900x referred to).   

Sometimes I really miss Soulvizier due to those things..

I'm sorta testing your theory in Act I Epic right now and it seems like your right :)

With Ajax's something sword, can't remember the full name but its that epic sword with 80ish base damage 10% pierce ratio, blade honing's extra kick somewhat shortens the time required for undeads to go down.. The rate is still more or less same with the spear but you get more passive procs due to extra speed so I think this is an advantage as you stated in your post..

Although, playing with no passive procs would be a better test I believe.. They kinda complicate things because once they happen, sword or spear don't matter anymore and every trash dies in two hits at most anyway.. Not to mention I also have Onslaught so everything undead or alive is slaughtered before they know it  :P

Only Marksmanship's base skill works with thrown weapons AFAIK..

Some say that modifiers work too but I haven't tested it myself yet so I'm not sure about that..

Oh this needs a lot of thinking in numbers and some play testing I guess.. ???

If your right though, I may exchange my third mastery with Rogue.. or add it and make a four mastery char  8)
