Looking for a mastery to go with Earth to provide defense. Went all the the way through Normal with just Earth. Was starting to really fail as I reach the end of it. Started dying too much.
This is when I wish I had the decoy.
Any thoughts? Must realize that I am slower than molasses anymore

Well Defense possibly. Or maybe Dream. Depends on what you want to play - a hybrid or more caster type.
-
Defense or Nature. Both have good defensive tools to make your game much more forgiving.
-
what are your stats? int or str?
-
Defense is only 60, Int 300+, Dexterity 200+
Perhaps Nature would be best at this stage of the game. Lots of things to hold them back while I blast away. (: -)
I wish to than you all for your advice.
-
by defense i take it you mean str? since you have high int, i vote for nature too

Not with earth, but maybe you can try rogue for a change once. Poison gas bomb and traps allow to engage from any distance within line of sight.

Yes, strength. Years ago, when I think Media just moved to Switzerland, I was already playing Titan Quest. At one time I had over a dozen different characters. I played Stabby's Magician as a knife thrower, unfortunately now my reaction time is beyond rotten. At this time Vo makes life easier for me. Sage was my favorite years ago.
Thought of Hunting and just using, Wood Lore, Herbal Remedy, Monster Lore, Study Prey, and Flush out. Starting a new toon. Which makes an Avenger
Use Nature with the one I'm playing..
If somebody comes up with a good easy combo to get to get through, I'll try it. I just started a new toon, its only level 4 and nothing yet.

Well, you'd be very lucky then oldage because I moved to Switzerland in 1998 and the game didn't come out until 2006. That's why Nordic released the 10th anniversary edition in 2016. You were probably playing before me though as I didn't buy the game until late 2007 and didn't install it until some time in 2008.

And I don't mean throwing knives (though why not use them too), I mean poison gas bomb that has mostly same mechanic as volcanic orb. And traps that are both decoy and damage (with pet damage jewellery). Magicans in Anniversary game have a lot more builds for them and much simpler than these knife throwing magicans you were refering to. I'm just not sure how easy they are overall, its hard to judge. Brigand on the other hand should be good with bow and can use traps, or gas bomb, or all of that at once.

I assume he's thinking of Fozzie's Bladeflinger Magician guide

Iirc though in AE Throwing Knife works off attack speed and not cooldown reduction now? Anyway, having throwing weapons as well should make a Magician a lot of knife spamming fun. ;D

My apology Media, for some reason I thought you said you lived in Oklahoma for awhile, but that was along time ago.
Yes it was Fozzie, but I used Irma 2 for most of my advice. That's what happens when you play too many games at the same time. Stabby was with Eastern Sun, a mod of D2 LOD.
Even now, I'm playing an update that is happening, called Eastern Sun Rising. Although I was one of the very early players of Grim Dawn, I haven't played it in a long long time. My best
toon was a retaliation.
Thanks for the help and information

I did, I was born an Okie and lived there for 16 years. But I've been long gone from the US, 30 years in the UK and now 20 in Switzerland.

Whew! I know I'm getting old and senile. That piece of information helped a little.
Although I played a lot of Dream in the past, for some reason, I never really cared for it.
Mainly, Earth, Storm, or Hunting.
EDIT: Have decided to try this new character as Summoner she is at level 4.
Botebote77 will use your and Letsrock as a base. As you know I lost everything awhile awhile back, don't even have a blue saved or much else.
So let the fun begin. Will start with Fire as it is the fasted and easiest to level. Haven't played Nature in years so need to study that before I decide on stats distribution.
Thanks again to all for your advice.
