The Gate next to the Mausoleum won’t open until Epic/Legendary level, you need a certain item, Ssasamyr Stone??

Let the boss in Kolopsos ‘s Liar follow you into the bushes,he can’t move very well that way so you can easily kill him.
The Gate of The Forgotten Clover won’t open until you obtained the 2nd quest of the fisherman.
If the portal of A Fault in Siran’s Mines won’t activate, just go closer.
Be sure to have the Soul Gem for killing The Guardian.
Don’t let your pet kill him.
The gem has to be in the main inventory.
If it doesn’t work go back to the little room and drop the gem, leave the little room and reenter and pick up the gem again, go back to the gardens and try again.
Clear the path before tipping Gibi the White Demon, you have better chance he’ll survive and obtain the quest. Follow the flags to his home.
The gates to Pandora’s Fortress won’t open, look for an entrance in the cracked walls.
You need the mirror to kill Sashami, he’s in the Nothern Scheol.
Origins and End Key are used in the Mountain Core before entering Penitents Chamber, look for a ramp to a cave.
You need Shara’s Eye to reveal The Invisible Creature in The Great Lake Of Singing Waters.
You need another Shara’s Eye to make The Great Demonic Master (in Mel’Kaans Temple) become visible before you can kill him.
You cannot find the Great Demonic Master ?? When you reach the last chamber of the Temple of Mel’Kaan, their is a Lich King like character at the center end of the room. You’ve got to talk to it one or two times and then he gets split into 3 Lich Kings, you have to defeat them first.
After that, you have to reach the Echoes Village to talk to Mordak who will give you the Chapel key.
At The area with the spider boss in The Asylum you have to activate the 5 elements in the right order before you can access Hydra’s Valley.
How to kill the Final Boss:Draken
You need to edge around to the sides and work your way down to the end. The final map is shaped like a trident. At each trident “point” there is an object that you can destroy. Once you destroy them, you will be able to damage the final boss. But be careful – destroying them also spawns new heros that you will encounter when you head back to where the Draken awaits. You don’t need to destroy all three before you take on the big guy. However you have to defeat the 3 Lords first.

Why collect them?
The Parchments of the Beast
The 7 Virtues
The Secret Paths
Why collect them?
These are like red wires in the game and long terms quests.
You’ll never be able to become Master of Chamoos without the Parchements.
The virtue quest shows up only later in the game, so remember the places where you find something like a portal that won’t work, you have to return later to them. Look out and remember places like this:

Secret Passages deliver you tons of good loot.
The Parchments of the Beast
1. Highland Satyr Boss Brian Master Of Goats or Sahai Body’s Excision in the swamps.

Note that not all the (side)quests aren’t always accessible, for some you got a one shot only, this means that if you don’t succeed to accomplish the quest the first time its game over and you lose the quest. That also goes for some chests and entrances.
The Mausoleum
Also note, after you get the quest outside mausoleum, you have to talk to the Headthieve inside as quick as possible when you find him. If you don’t, you can explore for about a minute before the thieves will start attacking you no matter what. If this happens, the quest will be incomplete (even if you kill the thieves and fight that old guy outside).
Defending the Spheres and The Orb which holds The Manuscript in The Secret Room (Siran).
The chests in The Crypt in the Old Stronghold on the Cliffs of Asteria can only be farmed once.
The Big chest in The Mountains Core can only be farmed once.
Gibi The White Demon, if he dies the quest is over.
Some questitems are also found upon several places. E.g. Zara’s Turle, End and Origins Key.
Other questitems can be found before you get the quest itself, DON’T through them away.
About the Mission Briefings i’ve found, i still have to figure out if they are important, so i suggest to keep them too.

Take the Secret relics and bring them to the high priest in Asteria and return. Find the entrance to The penitents Corridor. Proceed through The Mountains Core. After you’ve slaying him grab Shara’s Eye from the green chest and read The Confidential Document on the table.A bunch of big chests are at you’re disposal now. Return to The great Lake Of Singing Waters to reveal The Invisible Creature.

I took the portal to Hel’Gons Stroll and went left to Siran’s Path.
Find the entrance to sirans Mines.
Sirans Mines
Fight your way out to The Mining Exploitation and look out for the 2nd mine wich gives access to the mining exploitation, look for the 3rd mine and find your way out to Siran.
Two choices again. Or you can look for the entrance to A Fault and go to The Forbidden mountains or explore Mendawins Tomb.
I went into the tomb first.
Mendawins Tomb
Find the portal to The Secrets Room behind a broken wall. Here you have 3 choices to enter other areas, make your pick.
First i entered The Way of Pains ,the skeletons are almost impossible to kill, grab the sphere of eternity and run, easy this one.
Next one is The Way Of Humility. Ignore the guardians, you can’t kill them. Slay the little guardians at each lever and pull it, the savior chicken will come and help you to destroy the guardian so you can proceed to the next chamber. Grab the second Sphere Of Eternity and enter back The Secrets Room. Find the portal to The Torture Room, this one is the hardest of them all. You can’t kill the bone demons or destruct their altars; so put on your Nike’s and run fast. Pick up The 8 Mysterious Stones one by one and place them in the circle of the middle room. The Portal to the 3rd Sphere of Eternity will now be open, enter , grab the sphere and go back to the secrets room. Now put the 3 spheres in the middle of the room, sharpen your weapons cos you’ll have to defend the three orbs, not succeeding is the end of the quest. After you resist the 3 waves of enemies you can grab the manuscript. Portal to Asteria and go see Guria. Deliver the manuscript and get your reward.
Portal back to Siran’s Mines and search for the entrance to A Fault, go through the portal behind the big crystal to arrive in The Forbidden Mountains by working your way out of The Unexplored Galleries.

Look out for Antheo the Moose boss he might drop parchement VI. Find The Monestary Of Dementia nearby the second RP. Explore it in search of Porin Redfury’s Helmet. You need to defeat Porins Guardians and 5 bossess before you can get your hands on it. 2nd Note: The Eye is a tricky one, you’ll need to obtain it twice, you’ll see why while you progress into the game.
Portal to The Cemetary and follow the road to Elendar City. Start from the portal, you might miss The Mausoleum if you proceed from The Cemetary itself.
Road To Elendar
On your way to the city you’ll meet Wicyrien who will beg you to find his son in The Mausoleum. Beware this is a nasty trap, be sure you’re strong enough to enter, otherwise return later as this is a one shot quest.
The Mausoleum Of Ancestors
Explore The Mausoleum and talk to Ciladon the headthief before he starts attacking you or the quest is lost. Defeat the thieves and settle scores with Wicycrien to get your reward.
Note: the secret passage isn’t accessible here caused by a bug. (pitty)

Return on your steps and find the entrance to The Cursed Woods, its near the RP.

Asteria’s Beach
Talk to Gered and free Willy his son, somewhere kept on the beach, ready to be sacrificed.
Discover the bridge which leads to the gates of Asteria.
Asteria
Here the plot thickings, you’ll encounter many sidequests which prevents you to proceed on your mainquest if you want to obtain them. So many NPC’s you have to talk to. I love quests so i went for them first. Keep in mind not every sidequest can be obtained immediatly, some you’ll encounter much later in the game. Some other will distract you even further from your mainquest. Take notes or check frequently your questlog to keep track. Also here you find a bunch of merchants, an enchanter, a caravan driver and a sorcerer, a base and 2 debugchests.
Talk to Zazamankh the high priest, he will ask you to find the young priest who holds the Sacred Relics, bring them back. No rush here, you’ll find him on the appropriate time.
Notice the yellow spot on the map, go and fetch it. It is the second statuette of the fisherman hidden in a tiny chest. When you obtained it find Asteria’s Portal first to avoid unnessecary runs. Then portal to The Highlands to see Till Took. He’ll reward you with a Holy Flask, you should poor it in the middle of the sixth teeth of the giant tree on Deads Path, so portal to it.To travel even faster take the RP portal when you arrive. Now you can enter The Clover, just proceed on Deads Path end find the entrance. Tons of loot here. I hope you can keep your breath 🙂
The Clover Cave
Portal back to Asteria or the Beach if you didn’t tip the portal at Asteria yet.
Talk to Hamon, he has a bet running, find the 2 secret parchements to get a reward.
This is a midlong quest, you’ll encounter them on your journey.

Now that you have gathered all the sidequests go and see Seonnym Chief Of Asteria to ask for The Soulgem. He won’t give it at first; wait till a messenger appears and talk to him again. He’ll ask you to fight on his side, go and repel the invasion on The West Coast. Defeat the army, slay Triggath, pick up The Mission Briefing and return to Seonnym. Now you recieve The Soulgem.
Notice Seonnyms Advisor speak with him, he’ll ask you to see Guria. She lives a few houses further. She wants to test you out, go to The Arena next to her house and wait for her. If she doesn’t show up just go out and reenter The Arena. After recieving your task talk to The Arena’s Quatermaster. Talk to the Fights Referee to get back; win your 3 fights. Talk to her again, she’ll give you the key to Siran’s Mines. They are on your way to Hel’gon’s Manor. Find Mendowin’s Tomb, gather the 3 spheres around the orb the get The Manusscript; bring it back to Guria. Portal to Elendars Road via The Cemetary. Already some clues on epic/legendary:
These are some clues i picked up on the boards, as i didn’t play epic for now i have no idea where they should be placed.
Time to give some official advices about the new quest of Lilith 1.1 : The Order of Blood
(** Edit : This quest is only available in Epic and in Legendary)
First thing : collect 3 Ssamyr stones : The Cracked, the Cursed and the Bewitching
One of them (The Cracked) belong to Aar-Bal – Lilith’s Butcher, the Boss in the city of Elendar.
This one drop in Normal for the Epic quest access.
And it is the same for the Legendary quest access : You’ll drop this Cracked stone in Epic, still from Aar-Bal and this stone will be required in Legendary
Am I clear ?
Epic and Legendary game :
At Asteria if you manage to push back the Landing attack and strike down Triggath you will certainly discover a nice Chest over there, just next the Boss.
In this chest, there is an important mission… the start of The Order of Blood (note by me i thought you have to obtain the cracked stone first and do a rerun)
Note :
Have you found a little new area in the Swamps… ?
I hope these clues will help you for this quest.
Warning :
This quest is among the hardest one of the game, so be well prepared, buy many potions and sharpen your blades and spells
Good luck to all of you Heroes of Jalavia !
Mostal
You’ll also have to find the secret ssasamyrpassage leading to kizur(a new area with new quests)
You’ll find The Bewitching(ssasmyrstone) in the Swamps
*Good Luck, it is the beginning of Torment and Pain, be strong
some clarification after a crazy and quick hunt for this quests, better description and details will follow later.
You need all 3 ssasmyrstones to open the way to Kizur which is located on the cliffs.
The Cracked is hold by The Butcher in Elendar City, The Bewitched is hold by a monster in the swamps nearby a hut and The Cursed is hold by Trigath on the west beach.
Collect al the bushido stones(3 red and 3blue) all held by bosses in kizur except one thats nearby the abbey, you need them to activate the mana leech and storm on the Price quest.
The second quest is the tomb of king Mnetop and the oil:
find the guy in the swamps to retrieve the oil which grant you access to the tomb next to the mausoleum on elendars road.

Introduction
As I’m new when it becomes to gaming I decided to help others with and share my experiences on this wonderful TQ-mod made by Mostal. This is a guidens as i played it, you can play it as you like.
I also wanna say thanks to all the people who already posted some clues which I gratefully will use along in this tutorial.
I will not be held responsible for some info I used provided by others since I didn’t finished the game yet. If you only want some hints don’t look at the screenies they’re total spoilers.
I will constantly update as i’m progressing the game.
Important
Create a unique charactername for this mod.
Never but never load it into eighter TQ/TQIT or any other mod or you will lose all your skillpoints and collected items.
Importing characters with normal TQ masteries will result in mastery loss if you play the Masteries Version.
This goes both ways.
For solutions see Tips And Tricks
Tips and Tricks
Before you start playing do this first:
Create a character and do the triple load trick, start the game and tip the base in the village, save game and quit. Don’t do it during your current game.
Start the game in Epic mode and do the same.
Also do this for Legendary mode.
This will prevent you of losing any item or points when entering other difficulties.
You can prevent of loosing your character totally whenever you did load it into an other mod by mistake, this by creating some kind of backup.
How to do this:
Method 1 Manually or with the Fileswitcher:
Go to my documents/my games/titanquest immortal throne/savedata/user/lilithcharacter;
Copy this in my documents/my games/titanquest immortal throne/savedata/main.
Benefit of this is that now you can use TQDefiler and TQVault on it.
Notice that unique Lilith items won’t appear in TQvault. (maybe if EJFUDD or BMAN have time, they will impliment it as i asked to)
If you accidently add an item on top of non-visible items, both will show up in the game itself, if you remove the one that’s on top of it you reveal the second one, strange but true.
Note to Mostal I found a way to expand that little storage room. 🙂
Make this a habbit to do this each time you progress in the game.
To restore your character in case of lost or made some changes with eighter TQDefiler or TQVault just copy your character from main to user and overwrite it..
For those who do not want to do this manually i attached a text file in a zip, unzip it make the neccesary changes in it and save it as bat file(instructions inside).Piece of cake, no more fooling around with files.
[download id=”3850″]
Warning: be sure not to copy an old version from main to user, always start to copy your latest version of user to main!!!
Method 2 Map.dat Method:
If you already started a Lilith campaign, but did not first visit epic and legendary before playing normal, just go to your custom Lilith character’s savedata folder and copy the map.dat from the normal folder into an epic and legendary one Your character can now enter epic and legendary without losing anything, and you won’t have to replay quests and all that. Here’s an explicit step-by-step:
The file we want to copy is called “map.dat”. For e.g. a lilith character named “LTEST” on your Windows XP machine, this file is located in “C:\Documents and Settings\YourName\My Documents\My Games\Titan Quest – Immortal Throne\SaveData\User\_LTEST\Maps_jalavia.map\Normal\map.dat”
Start in your character’s maps_jalavia.map folder where you will see a folder named “Normal”. If you have already entered the game on Epic, you will also see a folder named “Epic”.
Create a new folder for each missing difficulty (so, create one named “Epic” if it doesn’t exist and create one named “Legendary” if it doesn’t exist.)
Copy the map.dat file from the “Normal” folder into the “Epic” and “Legendary” folders.
With the map.dat already in an existing epic and legendary folder, the game will not supercede the custom resources to create those folders and files, and thus will not cause custom items to be deleted.
As far as I know, the map.dat method will _not_ let you restore the items and bonuses you lost from going to another difficulty level. It’s for characters that haven’t visited epic or legendary, but have already progressed through the game enough to collect character bonuses and items they don’t want to lose when going to the next difficulty.
Method 3 Player.chr Method:
Make a backup of your player.chr file (found here: C:\Documents and Settings\YourName\My Documents\My Games\Titan Quest – Immortal Throne\SaveData\User\_LilithCharacter\player .chr). Then, load that character into epic and legendary. Then, restore the player.chr file, and you should be able to play the game normally without any problem.
However, I have not tested and confirmed this method, so I can’t vouch for it. Make a backup of the savedata folder before trying this method.
If the method doesn’t work, then you can use the map.dat method, but be aware that if you use this method, your character will respawn in epic and legendary at the last health fountain you touched in normal. This is only a problem for characters that have made it to the final dungeon, as there are no other health fountains in the game.
Method 4 Bonus Recover Method:
If You really don’t know what you’re doing, skip this, else there’s a way to recover your bonuses .
First, there’re some things you need to know. The first time you visit a difficulty, and only the first time, you’ll lose all your rewards. When I’m talking about rewards, I mean life powder reward, Gauvain’s letter reward, Fulia’s reward and Cain’s reward, nothing else since you’ve kept every other reward. Another thing you need to know is, if you’re in epic difficulty and you’ve kept, for example, life powder reward from normal, you won’t get the reward from epic. In other words, rewards do not pile up. This also applies if you take twice the same reward from Cain.
This is the way to recover the rewards you’ve earned in normal and that you’ve lost in epic. I warn you, this method can take some time to apply.
Make your character visit each difficulty, including legendary even if you’re in epic. This way, you’re character won’t lose again the rewards that you’ll recover. However, if you’ve already earn one of those rewards in epic, you’ll lose it by visiting legendary if it’s the first time. Even so, do it or you’ll lose everything again by visiting legendary the first time.
Make a security copy of your character somewhere else on your computer.
Make a blank character. Make him visit every difficulty, this won’t hurt anyone.
Copy the «normal» folder except the sub-folder «fow» of your blank character.
Paste it over the contents of the character which you wish to recover your reward. By doing this, you’ll reinitialize all your quests and, sadly, all of your restpoints. But do not worry, you won’t lose anything by doing this. Hopefully, you’ll keep your portals.
Now it’s the boring part. You have to do the same quests you did initially in normal if you wish to recover the rewards. That means: Saving Gauvain and visiting his brother in Linlys, obtaining Leopoldina quest near Mistol, killing Hecate, saving the sailors in the jail, recovering the 3 ingredients on the red-eye island, taking Shara’s eye and reading the scroll near it, going to the forbidden mountains, recovering the life powder, visiting Fulia, recovering each virtue and, finally, go to Fulia again. This should take you between one and two hours to complete. However, if you haven’t done yet Gauvain, Fulia or life powder quests in epic difficulty, skip them in normal and just do them in epic since rewards do not pile up. Simply do Leopoldina quest and take a different reward at each difficulty.
Visit epic and legendary difficulties. You should notice that you still have your bonus.
Copy the «normal» folder of your security copy (including or not the sub-folder «fow», it doesn’t matter).
Paste it over over the «normal» folder of the character who has recovered his rewards. By doing that, your normal difficulty will become what it was before all of this except that you’ll still have your reward..
If you have to recover some epic reward too, simply do the same thing with the epic folder.
If you weren’t able to recover your rewards, simply take back your security copy. Whether you try again or not is up to you.
Explore always all areas in full and try to kill every monster so you will never mis a thing. Sometimes monsters drops items which grants you a skill. Be patient and don’t rush through the game to complete it as soon as possible. Gain XP points and level up by quiting the game and replay. The explored areas will be populated again with monsters. If you proceed to a thougher area to soon you’ll die alot.
Talk to every person with a yellow square or exclamation mark above it by clicking on the person itself. Keep clicking until it repeats itself because some quests or sidequest aren’t activated immediately until that person has finished its speech.
Most (side) quest require that you return to speak with the person who gave you that task.
Be sure to activate all portals and restpoints.
Restpoints will add a griffion to a portal which gives you more destinations. They replace tho original Rebirth Fountains of TQ but the benefit of them is they always stay activated.
Note :When you want to play Lilith after playing the original TQ: IT, you must exit the game and restart or the portails won’t work correctly. The same goes if you want to play TQ: IT after playing Lilith.
Use the portals and griffions for faster travelling, if there isn’t one nearby create one yourself.
If you have difficulties to enter a portal, move your cursor to the outerside circle of the portal, when the flames light up just click and the map will appear.
Don’t use any chest multipliers, the game can crash otherwise.
What to do if Mordak is not showing up:
If you’re not in Echoes Village, go to it.
Tip the Base, save game and quit.
Mordak should be there if you re-enter the game.
If your character has a pet, set it to agressive , it’ll find logs before you do. Also aura’s will do the same. Note that logs aren’t shown with ALT, they only light up when you mouseover. E.g. log: Zara’s Turtle
For some lost items you’ll find Debug Chests which will return a specific item, you can’t open them if you didn’t posessed that item earlier.
You can use TQDEfiler and use the potion stacking option as the’re isn’t much room in your inventory.
Unfortunatly there’s a less stable area in the game: The area were the Moose are in The Forbidden mountains. If you’re game crashes you can eighter try the following:
Quit and lower your graphics for playing that area.
Portal to The Village or Asteria and put the key you found in the storagearea of your caravan.

Special thanks to Mostal for giving us TQ2.
Another to PinkFrog for his Masteries and Fathersquid & Lufe for the All Skin Mod.
And a 3rd one to Ferrovipathe for his maps.
Finally a specific thanks to Spaceace from 101uses to get out of the errors i made and get me a descend start how to work with wiki, introducing me to CSS-stuff and backup for encountered probs with this site.

When playing there are some basic rules that can make it easier for you to get the most out of the game and your builds. In general you will find tons of helpful info in this forum, but you will have to spend some time finding it. That’s why i’ve post this “Get started well” guide, so that you can get started quickly. My idea is that everyone with good newbie advice can post in this thread.
Choosing Masteries:
When playing the game you choose a mastery at level 2 and a second at level 8. You could stick with only one mastery, but for newbies i suggest that you choose a second aswell.
Choosing a class:
When deciding what class to choose, there are some classes more suitable for beginners than others. What you want is a class that is more of a allround class in defence, offence and surviability. A overall good choice for melee builds includes Defence mastery and a good choice for caster includes a strong pet class. Without a pet you’ll have a hard time playing caster as a newbie. Strong pet classes are (Earth and Spirit). Nature provides average pets, but good defence from extra health. Also look for classes that compliment eachother in skills. One mastery might grant a skill that boosts Stun length and damage, where another mastery has many skills with stun effect. Combining those will make these skills more powerfull.
Distributing your attribute points:
If you’re choosing Psysical damage (Melee:Swords, axes and clubs), you should focus on strength. There are some lesser requirements in dex for swords, so checkout this before spending your points.
If you’re choosing Piercing damage (Ranged:Bows, Melee:Spears), you should focus both on strength and dexterity. Strength provides your psysical damage, and dex provides piercing damage which is the % of the psysical damage that bypasses enemy armor. So rule of thumb is that without high strengthbased damage, your piercing damage will not get high either.
If your choosing Elemental damage (staffs), you should focus all on Intelligence. Intelligence boost elemental damage. Just end up having 150 in Dexterity as this is the maximum requirement for caster gear.
Choosing skills:
Get skills that combines good defence and good offence. If one is to weak you’ll take too much damage or do too little. Too little damage meaning getting hit too much from the long fights and finally take too much damage anyway. Try to have skills for different purposes, so that you have a balanced character.
Think of having: Overall defences, Close range defences, Ranged Defences, Specific damage type defences and Lifesaver skills, Lowering enemy resistanceses, Boosting own resistances and damage.
A character missing out on some of these will have problems in certain situations. Match the skills before combining masteris to see if there are some big gaps in the build you’re thinking of.
Distributing skillpoint:
Alot of newbies make the mistake to max out some single skills, at the start of the game. This way you only have few strong abilities, and lack some others. Another thing is that maxing the mastery gives you alot of extra health, strength, dexterity or intelligence. This is just as important as skills. The way i play i only choose to 1 point the good defencive and offencive skills in the first 25-30 levels, and spend alot of points in the filling up the masteries. An example could be that with the first 1 point you could get 10% to damage, second point you get 12%. That way you only get 2% extra damage from the second skillpoint spend. If you choose instead to 1 point another skill giving 8% to dodge attacks, you that way get more for the money, both in % and you also combine both offence and defence. Another thing is +skills equipment. If you have +3 to all skills this means that you get 4 points in a skill by spending only 1. My advice is to spend 1 point in some skills, and get alot of free power. The second point spend only raises the skill by 1 instead of 4…
Good and bad skills
Rule of thumb in seeing if a skill is worth the spending, is usually if it is calculating the bonus in % or just in numbers. If you take Defences “Battle Awareness” skill you see that it gives 72 in defensive ability and 40 armor when maxed. My Templar at level 50 has 759 in defensive ability and 1426 in armor, so the bonus from Battle Awareness is totally insignificant compared to that. So most skills not using bonus in % will flatten out later in the game. If it had given 10% to armor, the bonus would keep getting bigger as my armor class from better gear would get bigger. So pretty much stick to skills with % in bonus and avoid spending more than 1 point for the synergies in the skills only giving bonus in pure numbers.
Damage vs. Resistances and armor
Alot of newbies are choosing insane damage per second (DPS) instead of survivability. Remember that you don’t deal alot of damage if your dead after one hit. Offcourse, dealing high damage kills faster and that way you get hit less as well…But still use gear and skills that makes your character more resistant along with raising the DPS.
Attack rating
Your attack rating (attack speed) is more important to some skills than others. You could take Volley or sheild passive (Sheild smash, Disruption & Pulverize), these skills trigger more often, the more hits you make. Thats why abit lower damage with a high attack rating actually can deal more damage because it triggers bonus damage skills more often. The same way with Onslaugth, Calculated Strike, and Psionic Touch. All these skills are dependant on a number of attacks before triggering. High attack speed helps them trigger more often.
Speed limits in the game:
Dual wield – 199%
Bows and staves – 244%
All other weapons – 222%
Casting speed 300%
Run speed 166%
Figthing hard opponents
When figthing hard opponents there are some important rules:
1. Have good resistances (Bosses have special attacks so watch the type of damage they do and raise your resistances to it)
2. Lower their resistances (Some classes can lower bosses resistances with skills like Plauge, Squall or other skills)
3. Move around (Staying in one place often gets you killed. Learn to read when the special attacks are coming and move away)
4. Store special equipment (Store things that are powerful against specific types of monsters or damages. Apply before specific figths)
5. Pop potions just before clashing into the enemy, that way the first seconds of attack you’ll be regenerating health fast which gives you time to fire your spells without getting slain doing so.
Monster Resistances
Along with game progress monsters will be more resistant to different types of damages. Using skills that lowers monster resistances will help you when using those types of damages. Some of the skills that lower monster resistances are: Squall, Plague, Study Prey, Trance Of Wrath, Deathchill Aura and more…
Staying Alive
Most common reason for dying alot is to loose health too rapidly. Main reasons are:
Killing to slowly. Solution: Get faster and more damaging weapons and skills that boost either single target hits or multiple target hits. Also high resistant monsters need to have lowered their resistances to certain damage types.
Having to little health. Solution: Max out masteries before spending to many points in skills. Get +health gear and VERY IMPORTANT GET SOME CONVERT % OF ATTACK DAMAGE TO HEALTHgear !!!. This is especially important for dual wielders as they get hit alot. With % of attack to health you’ll gain health for every succesful hit you make. Even the most open defensive characters (Assassins, Warlocks etc.) can actually be quite viable with this…
Having too bad gear. Solution have some higher level characters send your low level characters gear through the Caravans transfer area.
Planing your build
When planning your build you can go as far as level 75 with the expansion Immortal Throne. The standalone game Titan Quest goes to level 65. You should note that levels from 65 to 75 is extremely hard to to reach since you need tons of XP. The rule of thumb is that if your charracter isn’t very survivable when entering Legendary difficulty (around level 52-56), it will never be. You should for that reason plan your builds to have the needed skills before reaching the highest levels.
The Titan Calculator
To make sure that your characterbuild is gonna be ok, you can use the Titan Calculator. This small program helps you visualize the build your thinking of making. At the bottom of the Calculator page you’ll find the link which you can use to post your idea of a build to other, so that they may comment on your idea. Good idea is to only depend on how your build is at level 65, since leveling after 65 is very slow, and also people without the Immortal Throne expansion can use your calculations on the build. The link to the Titan Calculator:
The Titan Quest Skill Calculator
Dont just speed through the game
Take time to kill everything on your way, or you will be too low in levels for the later game. You’ll find less gear aswell.
Leveling beyond the end of the game
Know that at normal speed through the game (Abit of farming and abit of extra going through areas), you’re still gonna end up after the Immortal Throne exspansion at level 60-65. So the levels from 65 to 75 is only reached by going through already explored areas and bossruns in Legendary difficulty. So plan your character to the point of ending at level 60-65. The rest is going back for more xp in already explored areas, and not part of the going through the last part of Legendary difficulty for the first time…You can use +% to experience gained gear if you want to reach higher levels faster, but you have to wear it from early on in the game to get a larger effect on your XP.
Just ask for help
Dont be affraid to ask for help. In this forum there is alot of patient people spending alot of time helping others. Just remember to look for related posts before asking and keep the tone friendly. People who is spending loads of time on helping others should have respect for offering their free service…
Pet analyzes:
I made this section so anyone starting the game would have an easier choice on pet and what skills could be used as bosskillers. Note that between every difficulty your pets gain extra damage and health.
Lich King: (Spirit)
This is the most powerful pet in the game. At level 5 he gets Soul Blight skill, which lower enemy resistances greatly. Death Nova is a powerful synergy that reduces enemy health and leeches health for the Lich King. Wraith Shell makes the Lich King highly damage resistaned and almost impossible to kill. The last skill Arcane Blast is not needed for the Lich King to be the best pet of them all.
Core Dweller: (Earth)
The migthy Core Dweller is the second strongest pet. Strong on health, strength and the ability to provoke enemies to attack him and not you. The Inner Fire skill increases Core Dweller speed, health regeneration and dexterity. The Wild Fire skill gives to little output in damage and is almost useless. The Metamorphosis skill grants high health, damage absorbation and resistances and makes the Core Dweller the perfect tank. In legendary the Core Dweller is loose ground due to a more insignificant developement compared to his enemies though…Note that in legendary difficulty he is losing terrain due to his slow developement between difficulties, where pets like wolves gain real devastating power.
Wisp: (Storm)
The Wisp itself gives insignificant damage, but for characters dealing in elemental damage it has one of the best boosters in the game. The skill Eye Of The Storm grants 100% to elemental damage and high resistances to Cold and Lightning damage. A perfect pet for damage boosting.
Nightmare: (Dream)
Again as the Wisp, the nightmare is weak on damage. It gets abit more edge after level 5, but the reason to pick this oddlooking fellow is the synergies. Hypnotic Gaze spreads confusion amogst you enemies and works fine even with just 1 point in it. Mastermind is superb if you have other pets as it raises the damage and the regeneration of health and energy greatly to other pets. Without other pets the nightmare is more or less useless.
Wolves: (Nautre)
Wolves can be great or just suck big time. This depends on your character. At level 7 you get 2 wolves and at level 18 you get 3. The skill Maul is useless due to the extremely low damage output, but in IT expansion they gain % to reduction of enemy health from this skill. This skill should be maxed in legendary as it makes wolves one of the most powerful legendary pets. Survival instinct grants extra damage and damage absorbation when wolves go down to 15% of their health. Since wolves don’t deal much damage a % boost to damage is almost insignificant later in the game. I personally just 1 point this skill and recast wolves if they die. This works fine throughout the game. What you want from your wolves is the Strength of the pack skill (And Maul on Legendary). Strength of the pack boostes all allies psysical damage greatly and adds a bit to speed and armor. Superb skill but the pets them self are just boosting meatsheilds until Legendary where they weaken and totally rip your enemies apart. If playing melee with wolves they are great pets.
Sylvan Nymph: (Nature)
Weakest of all pets, but since she stays out of the harms way she has some survivability. All skills are abit below average and her synergies are fairly weak too. Owergroth gives a little defence and retaliation and Nature’s Wrath gives some elemental damage to her bow attacks. I useally put 1 point in her skills and stop there. If your playng Druid or Ritualist she will get some boosts from Nightmare and Wisp pet and get abit more usefull.
Construct analyzes:
Traps: (Rogue)
Traps are great. They work as nonbiological pets and do great damage. They also draws the attention of enemies which is very useful. Rapid Construction skill makes you able to create traps faster and cheaper and is a good skill if you rely much on your traps for defence/damage. Improved Firemechanism gives extra projectiles and adds to damage. All in All a great help playing rogue based characters.
Monster Lures: (Hunting)
Monster Lures are not that great. Best thing is that they are cheap and have the provoke ability. Traps do provoke aswell and are much much better, just more expensive. The Detonate skill is useless unless you playing an Avenger in which case Detonate is boosted by Earth Enchant Aura. If not the Monster Lure is a pretty weak alternative to Traps.
Timelimited summonings analyzes:
Outsider: (Spirit)
Now this guy is awesome. Dealing very high damage both psysical and elemental and having very much health. This is the best timelimited summoning in the game. Worth every one of the 16 skillpoints needed.
Ancestral Warrior: (Warfare)
With the Ancestral Horn skill you can summon 5 Ancestral Warriors. Their damage is not that great but you get 5 clowns running around and this makes the skill average for 16 skillpoints. All in all a good skill.
Bosskiller skill analyzes:
Collossus: (Defence)
Spend just 1 point and get 30% damage absorbation, 50% damage, 30% strength and 30 health. This skill is awesome just with 1 point. The skill does not get much better spending more than 1 point, so this is a great bosskiller skill and it’s only 1 point spend. This makes it the best bosskiller skill in the game.
Phantom Strike: (Dream)
Awesome Bosskiller and also a mob destroyer. With all 12 skillpoints it gives 190% to damage and your teleported directly into the attack. No damage taken getting close to your opponent. With the synergy Dream Stealer you get your mob attack and dealing 360 arc damage, 382 psysical damage, 405 energy leech over 4.0 seconds and 4.5 seconds stun to 6 targets at a time.
Lethal Strike: (Rogue)
This skill is evil. With all 12 points spend it gives 500% to psysical damage plus 390% to piercing damage. This totally rips your opponents apart. The synergy Mortal Wound is only for characters focused on bleeding/poison as it adds to % in thoose damage types. Considering how much psysical and pierce damage is deals this is not even needed. Maybe just 1 point in it for the 3 second stun to very hard bosses.
Study Prey: (Hunting)
The skill is a perfect bosskiller. Lowering both damage and pierce resistances on enemies by 50% imaging it with Lethal Strike. Double overkill beyond your imagining. The synergy Flush Out lower defensive ability and elemental resistances. The skill is not a must, but if dealing elemental damage or just having enough skillpoints in spare choose this synergy.

What is the difference between Softmods and Hardmods?

Titan Quest has 2 versions of mods, called SoftMods and HardMods.
Before installing our mod let’s look at the difference between Soft and Hard Mods. You should also look to Triple-Load trick to not lose your skill points before starting to play your mod.
What is the difference between Softmods and Hardmods?

Softmod is mod type when you install the mod files in “Custom Maps” folder and then start the mod with “Custom Game”.
Hardmod type mods directly replaces your original Titan Quest Immortal Throne files with new ones in the install folder of Titan Quest Immortal Throne.

You should take a look in advance what files are overwritten and copy them beforehand. Therefore, be sure to make a backup of it in case you want to uninstall the mod!
For an example for Hardmod is the SoulvizierMod.

How to Install a SoftMod?
Backup your characters and saves. Your characters are at:
C:\Users\<Your_User_Name>\MyDocuments\MyGames\TitanQuest – Immortal Throne\Save Data
Download the mod you want to play.
Then you unpack the archive. Some files archived with 7-zip which has the best compression rate. You can download the 7-zip from the official site: http://www.7-zip.org/
When the unpacking is done, copy or move all the files (Except the Readme files – but if you move it doesn’t affect anything, just clutter) in the Titan Quest Custom Maps folder. It is in “My Documents” of the user account. For example:Windows XP:C:\My Documents\My Games\Titan Quest – Immortal Throne\CustomMapsWindows Vista and Win7:C:\Users\<Your_User_Name>\MyDocuments\My Games\Titan Quest – Immortal Throne\CustomMapsFor an alternative way to reach My Documents folder, hit CTRL + R and type %userprofile%\documents and hit ENTER.NOTE: If you can’t find the CustomMaps, just create a new empty folder named CustomMaps. The result should look like this:
Code:
My Games
+ – Titan Quest – Immortal Throne
+ – Custom maps
+ – <Name of the Map / Mod>
+ – Database
<File> .ARZ
+ – Resources
<Files> .arc
Start Titan Quest Immortal Throne, select Custom Game, select the map/mod you want to play and click on “Start”.
The map/mod does not appear in the game and do not load properly.
Pay attention to the directory structure, there may be double folders when extracting your mod from archive. Also “CustomMaps” should be written correctly (case sensitive does not matter).

What is the Tripple-Load trick?
There is a Titan Quest bug when playing under “Custom Game” that you can lose all your skill points when you change the difficulty level. The trick is to trigger this bug before starting anything and get rid of it. How do you do this? Start a game on Normal difficuly and exit. Then start the game on Epic difficulty and exit. Finally do this for Legendary difficulty too. Then you can start the Map / Mod in Normal difficulty and start playing!
When the Triple-Load trick is necessary?
The Triple-Load trick is necessary only for the characters that are played directly from “Custom Game”. This concerns, for example any Lilith Mod characters. With the characters you play in the normal campaign, you can not start from a higher difficulty level at the beginning. That’s only possible with characters in “Custom Game”. So for the mods you do not play in “Custom Game” you don’t need the Triple-Load trick.

Do i need to reload the mod every time before playing?
Yes, a mod must be usually reloaded at all times – both to start the game and both when you return from the game menu. When you start the Titan Quest some of the changes that Mod made can remain (like the changing of the “Start” button) but it doesn’t mean the mod is loaded.  The only exception to this is the Allskins-Mod.
One must also pay attention when changing to the next level of difficulty. If you have defeated Hades and the game is finished and you return to the Character Select Screen you have to reload the mod again.
It is even advisable to restart Titan Quest Immortal Throne, especially when you change from a mod to other mods or to campaign!

How do I distinguish my characters, if i play different mods?
One way to easily identify its characters, it is especially marked. If the Mod you are playing is “D2 Immortal” it’s abbreviation is D2I , so your characters suffix will be “D2I”.
How do I know if the mod was loaded correctly?
Whether the right mod is loaded, can be easily recognized by the class name. Missing the class name, or having the wrong classname means that no mod is loaded. The same applies to items. Missing items are an indication that the mod was not loaded (see the picture below.). In addition, many mods (Masteries, Gods of Gar, etc.) is changing the Start button, so there is another name instead of “Start” like “Masteries”, “Gods of Gar” and so on.

“Order of Blood Abbey” is an optional quest in Lilith in Epic/Legendary only. It’s a hard one! Harder than almost everything else in Epic Lilith!
Before you start, you should have the following items:
Brooch of Eternal Alliance- You NEED a lot of help getting through this quest! Try to carry-over your amulet from the Normal game. You will have two level 35 Centaurs to help. If you lost your amulet, then wait until you have saved The Citadel of the High Rising to receive an even better brooch (two level 50 Centaurs).
Any armor “of the Glade” for protection against beasts
Any combination of armor/rings/enhancements that will bring your Cold Resistance up to 80%.
Any combination of armor/rings/enhancements that will bring your Fire Resistance up to 80%.
A separate set of rings/armor for 80% Lightning Resistance and Energy Leech Resistance
Armor that will give you a high percentage of “Reduced Freeze Duration”
Any combination of armor/rings/enhancements that will bring your Bleeding Resistance up to 80%.
Note: You will be swapping these rings/armor constantly to get 2 or 3 of these resistances simultaneously.
A large number of “Elemental Resistance” scrolls to protect your party.
A large number of Superior Health Potions.
3 different Ssamyr Stones- you will need these to blow open the cliff wall, east of the “Asteria’s Cliffs” restpoint. One stone Ssamyr Stone: The Cracked) needs to be from the Normal game. The other 2 stones (Pierre de Ssamyr: The Cursed & Pierre de Ssamyr: The Bewitching) need to be from the Epic game.
Needles Cave/ Kizur’s Ascent/ Kizur’s Stairs:
[needed- prot. Beasts]
You will be attacked mostly by beasts. You may need to teleport back to Echoes Village to heal after almost every battle. It’s a hard slog, but not impossible. Eventually, you will exit the caves and reach the open plains of the Dorian Pass. Touch the Base at (south) Dorian Pass. You will need to return there when (not if) you get killed.
Dorian Pass (West edge):
[needed- prot. Cold & Fire; optional- Beasts]
You will be attacked by wolves and Ice “Surties”. The Surties have both a Cold and Fire attack so you need resistances for both. Fight your way NorthEast.
Dorian Pass (Center)/Nidhogg:
[needed- prot. Cold, Lightning, Energy Leech; optional- Beasts]
Stay along the right side of the Center Dorian Pass. You will be constantly attacked by purple Tempest Energy balls and a few random Ice beasts. Use an Elemental Resistance scroll to help keep your party alive, and teleport often to Echoes Village for a heal. Once past the Tempest Energy, heal up again and defeat the Ice raptor boss, Nidhogg. Claim his Bushido stone (#1) and the 2 Majestic Chests.
Run, don’t walk to the Dorian Pass restpoint (right after you defeat Nidhogg). Don’t bother with the petty battles with the little ice raptors. That Dorian Pass restpoint and the nearby (northeast) Dorian Pass Base are hard-won, so take a break and rest up. This Dorian Pass restpoint eventually becomes a hub (but not a true portal) for other restpoints on this quest, White Cavern, Sulphide Cavern, Stones Field and Abbey.
Retrace your steps back to the Center Dorian Pass and when you see the Battle Marker, head to that area along the left side. You’ll probably get hit by Tempest Energy balls again. Avoid confrontation with the Ice Surtie boss, Hrungnir, for now. Once you’ve cleared the Tempest Energy, then you’re ready to battle Hrungnir.
Dorian Pass (Center)/Hrungnir:
[needed- prot. Cold & Fire; optional- Beasts]
Since he’s a Surtie, he has both a Cold and Fire attack, but he’s not too difficult to defeat. Claim his Bushido stone (#2). You can exit the game at this point, because there is no advantage in going any further in one sitting. Come back later.
Dorian Pass (East):
[needed- Djinn scroll and every pet/ally and battle enhancer you can muster]
From the Dorian Pass restpoint, head slightly West, then NorthEast. The next hard battle is the magician, Nashio -The Exiled. This is an extremely hard fight. It doesn’t work to hit him with staff or ranged attacks- those are not strong enough and he has a really damaging distortion wave attack. If you see him conjure up one or two Core Dwellers, it’s over. Just leave, teleport out and exit the game and come back later, using the Dorian Pass restpoint as your launching point.
Your only chance is a direct, all-on attack, throwing every pet and scroll ally you’ve got. He won’t conjure up any Core Dwellers while under an intense onslaught. Hopefully, your allies and pets will keep him distracted, and if you happen to have Porin Redfury’s helmet, The Stars Headdress (won at the Forbidden Mountains Monastery), you can use a little Purification Rain on him for the kill.
If you defeat him, he transforms into another creature, Symbion, that is somewhat easier to defeat. Claim the Bushido stone (#3) and the Mystic Orb just around the corner and head NorthEast to the White Cavern. As long as you still have your Cold Protection, your encounter with 2 of Ymir’s Sons along the way won’t be too bad.
The White Cavern:
[needed- prot. Cold & Reduced Freeze Duration; optional- Beasts]
It’s not actually that difficult with the right equipment. You will be attacked by Young Ravelgs (ice birds) and lots of Ymir’s Sons. If you keep north, then west inside the caverns, you will eventually encounter a small outdoor area with Ymir. He’s not hard to beat. Claim his Bushido stone (#4). Now you should have four. Go back inside and keep heading NorthEast in the White Cavern until you reach the White Cavern restpoint. Once you touch it, leave. You need to go to another cave to get the remaining 2 Bushido stones. You can exit the game at this point, because there is no advantage in going any further in one sitting. Come back later.
The Sulphide Cavern:
[needed- prot. Fire]
From the Dorian Pass restpoint, this time you can run past Nashio-The Exiled. You don’t really need to fight him again. Kill the 2 Ymir’s Sons again, but instead of heading to the White Cavern, follow the narrow path southwards to the Sulfide Cavern. Despite its name, the Sulphide Cavern is not poisonous. You don’t need any poison protections here. You will be attacked by flying djinns with a water wave attack (no protections for that, sorry) that are fairly easy to defeat. Above you, there is a series of rickety wooden bridges, manned by weak opponents that lob fireball grenades. Fight your way northwards, and you will finally find the ramps that will get you up to the wooden bridges. Climb up, and follow the bridges Southwards, slightly West and then North again. You will see the entrance to Mountain Cave #1.
Mountain Cave #1/Stones Field #1/Mountain Cave #2:
These 3 areas are not dangerous at all, and are easy to follow from one to the next. The exit of Mountain Cave #2 will lead you to Stones Field #2, and that’s where the next big fight awaits.
Stones Field #2:
[needed- Bleeding Resistance]
Be sure to touch the Stones Field restpoint. Here, you will be attacked by monks. It’s not too hard to dispatch one or two, but when they attack in a mob, you will need to hit and run before their bleeding attack hits you hard. There is an outdoor altar that holds Bushido stone (#5). After taking it, take the stairs to the Abbey.
Blood Abbey:
[needed- Bleeding Resistance]
The Abbey is guarded by more monks. It also has the Abbey restpoint, so if you can reach it, touch it so you can return later if necessary. Fight your way into the Abbey entrance. Inside, in The Crypt, you will find the boss, Black Alf. Fight him and defeat him using all your pets, allies and battle enhancements and claim the last Bushido stone (#6). There is also a special ring to take, Gate’s Unique Ring. By taking the ring, it completes the “Order of the Blood” quest, even though there is one last detail to finish up.
Kizur’s Perch:
[needed- all 6 Bushido Stones]
Teleport back to the Asteria’s Cliffs portal, and go to the Dorian Pass restpoint hub. From there, take the White Cavern restpoint and head NorthEast to Kizur’s Perch. At Kizur’s Perch, you may or may not find The Kurgan. For some reason, he never appeared for me. You can place all 6 of the Bushido Stones to create a Mana Leech and a Storm Trigger monument, but with nobody to fight, it’s pointless. Oh Well, a disappointing end to a very difficult, exhilarating and sometimes scary quest.
The only real, tangible reward is the Gate’s Unique Ring (won at Blood Abbey). There is no other reward- no large amount of gold, and no large gift of experience. The ring also a disappointment, as it does not provide much protection, nor much of a battle enhancement. It provides a new skill, “Bloody Kiss Aura” that reserves a lot in mana, burns mana quickly while active, and doesn’t even work 100% of the time! (more like 30%?). Just toss it in your storage as a souvenir of your quest for bragging rights, but use other (and better) rings for your next adventure.

Defense IT / Cassidy's Conqueror Guide
« on: 13 August 2018, 15:59:08 »
The Conquerer : Gatsu, The Dreadnought.
1) – Overview –
Due to all the requests for a guide to building a conquerer, I’ve decided to dedicate my third guide to this incredible build. The conquerer, with decent gear and build can be among the top three characters in the game power and survivability wise – and arguably one of the most fun to play. The conquerer makes use of the Defense and Warfare trees to maximise his incredible melee potential and to gain the ability to tank nearly any monster in the game!
2) – Skills and Stats –
Inititally, get your strength and dex up to the point where you can use your target gear (if you don’t know what you’ll be finding, take em up to about 400 a piece). This will grant you decent damage and shield block rate.
Then plow the rest of your points into health and str – in a 1/1 ratio.
Int and mana should be left untouched – ’tis better to live while chugging mana potions than to die a squishy death due to too little hp.
=== Defense ===
Armor Handling – 6 points (max). This allows your character to use armor more effectively and reduces the requirements for shields and armor. Useful, since it will allow you to equip decent gear early on and KKND your way through normal and epic.
Shield Smash, Disable and Pulverise – 18 points (max – 6 in each). These are the three main procs of the defense tree – all allow your character to strike with both shield and sword simultaneously. They allow this double attack (smash), extreme slowing of enemies (disable) and multipe target hitting (pulverise). Get them.
Shield Charge – 1-12 points (max). This skill is one of the coolest in the game – a gatotsu esque technique that flings you ahead and strikes a target hard, stunning them and those around them (with synergies). This will be your main tactic for dealing with powerful ranged mobs – bringing your foes into arms reach in a second. You may want to leave a single pont in it if you are worried about mana, since you are after the stun and skill disruption, not the damage. Assign it to your right mouse button and use as soon as it charges (not long).
Disruption (synergy to above) – 6 points (max). Not only does this allow your charge to strike multiple targets, but it disrupts their skills (perfect for those cocky dragonian casters). ‘Nuff said. Get it.
Colossus – 1-8 points (max). A stunning skill, albeit a silly looking one. Your character becomes really big and tough for a short period of time. Nice to have if boss running or for when things get tough – but has a nasty recharge time and can be annoying (you won’t fit through certain doors, for one 🙂 ).
Battle Awareness – 1 point. The conquerer’s ‘energy reserved’ skill, this gives a minor boost to defensive abilities. Not all that usefull on its own – but its synergies are well worth the price of admission.
Focus (synergy to above) – 3-6 points (max). Allows your shield to block more often…more useful than you’d think but less than you’d hope.
Iron Will (synergy to above) – 6 points (max). Quite possibly the best skill in your defensive arsenal. This adds those tricky to get resistances such as stun and skill disruption. This will make you the envy of other melee builds in legendary, since everything seems to love stunning you – get it, love it, appreciate it.
Adrenaline – 1-10 points (max). An okay proc with insanely good synergies. This gives you a minor boost to regeneration and has a 5 percent chance of triggering whenever an enemy strikes you. Maxing it gives it a longer duration (12s), allowing it to be active for longer (a good thing since it has a 30s hidden recharge time). Nonetheless, regen isn’t all that helpful when potions are plentiful and gold is easy to come by.
Resiliance – 6 points (max). There are those who view this skill as cheap and those who view it as an awesome and essential part of the conquerers arsenal. I’m a member of the latter group. It gives a significant reduction to *all* recharge times, allowing adrenaline to trigger sooner and your charge and other abilities to be used more often.
Defensive Reaction – 4-8 points (max). This significantly boosts your damage and speed (50 percent/15 percent max) during an adrenaline boost. A good skill to have, since late game adrenaline will be triggering almost constantly.
=== Warfare ===
Weapon Training – 6 points (max). Gives a decent boost to attack speed and offensive ability. An essential warfare skill.
Dodge attack – 3 to 6 points (max). A very useful skill, gives you a 15 percent (max) bonus to dodge all damage. This will save your *** more than you know.
Onslaught – The bread and butter of this build. Onslaught gives you a boost to your attack with each consecutive strike, to a significant 50 percent at max. With its synergies this skill is hard to beat – assign it to your left mouse button and go nuts.
Ignore Pain (synergy to above) – 1-6 points (max). This gives you damage resistance and the all important pierce resistance, up to a max of 15 percent. Very useful, unless you have already maxed your pierce resistace through items.
Ardor (synergy to above) – 6 points (max). Increases your movement and attack speed, greatly enhancing your DPS. A very useful skill. Note – hamstring is not required to access Ardor and thus should be ignored.
Ancestral Horn – 1-15 points (max). This summons in up to five badass fighters who are utterly awesome at engaging the attention of enemies and bosses. I use this as a bankai, for difficult encounters and with colossus makes you almost unstoppable. However, like colossus, its over way too fast and takes a while to charge.
Battle Standard – 1 point. A gorgeous skill when facing bosses – not only does this boost various offensive and defensive abilities but adds a +1 to alls skills! It also seems to make abilities recharge faster.
Triumph (synergy to above) – 1-6 points (max). Reduces enemy defenses when Standard is up, especially their stun resistance. For those who like to stun, this skill will truly shine – for everyone else, it is still highly useful for weakening bosses.
=== Other skills to consider ===
War Horn and Doom Horn (synergy) – These provide a short term, erratic stun over a wide area and a considerable drop in enemy defense and life. Some people swear by this skill…I tend to merely swear at it, since the stun is insignificant in legendary, monsters tend to have high resistances to vit damage and 33 reduced armor aint all that much. Furthermore, enemies should die so fast in melee range that you won’t really have much time to use this. Nonetheless, as said there are those who really love this skill. Give it a try if it appeals to you.
Rally, Inspiration (synergy) and Defiance – Once again, this is a ‘swear’ by or ‘swear at’ skill. It gives a minor boost to hp, regen and armor when used – although nothing to really write home about. Its synergies are similarly meh, granting energy regen (useless to you) and damage returned (nice, but things die too fast in close for this to really be useful IMHO). The only truly good thing about this skill is that defiance can provide a hefty (up to 50 percent) bonus to elemental resistances. Nice. Once again, feel free to give it a try – it can be a useful skill, especially in MP.
Battle Fury, Crushing Blow and Counterattack – My personal favourite of the ‘considered’ skills. This is yet another proc which pumps your combat potential, granting a significant offensive boost (fury), huge potential damage (crushing blow) with a negligible retaliation (counterattack). If you have points lying spare, max the first two and drop a point or two into counter. It should be noted that, as with all proc synergies, the synergies will only activate when the primary is in effect – i.e. Battle Fury.
Batter and Rend Armor – Great little skills, if you have a mouse button to spare. I recommend using Batter early game to allow your character to dominate until you unlock Warfare. It gives your character the ability to slow his foes, as well as a nice shield/weapon combo to use at will. Rend gives a not insignificant ability to lower the armor of foes, but its main use is to add more targets to Batter. I choose not to include this in the primary build, since I never found myself using it. Between Onslaught, Charge and the various procs, my damage and slowing capacity was more than sufficient. Nonetheless, a great skill if you are possessed of great dexterity with the third mouse button and have skills to spare.
Quick Recovery – A decent skill, perhaps worth a point or two. Improves your blocking immensely when active, increasing its chace to block and frequency of blocking, as well as your armor rating slightly. I tend not to use this all that much late game, since my shield block is already 98 percent…a reasonable consideration, though.
3) – Character Progression –
There are a number of possible ways to build this character up, but this is my personal favourite. Start by dropping a point into Batter (yes, batter) – a great little skill to help you up till you get Onslaught. Once you have the latter, feel free to retrieve the skill point.
Next, maximise Armor Handling to allow you to use your target gear sooner (the str bonus from your chosen armor and shield will further accentuate this skill). Now drop a point into Battle Awareness and start climbing the defense mastery tree until you can put a point in Shield Smash.
When you hit level 8, put a point or two in Onslaught and maximise weapon training for the nice offensive boost. Until you are using powerful gear, maximising onslaught won’t gain all that impressive a return, since it is a percentile. You will have a better time maxing the mastery for base damage and to use your uber gear sooner :).
Focus on climbing the defense mastery tree, putting a point into each of the essential skills (especially the procs, adrenaline and shield charge). The second you are using your first chosen powerful weapon (probably around level 10 or so), max onslaught and watch that DPS hit the roof!
Next focus on climbing the defense tree, until you have unlocked Colossus and Pulverise (the latter I’d maximise right away, since it is the most powerful crowd control proc at your disposal). You should now be in late Egypt/early Orient.
From here you have two possible routes. If you feel confident about your dps and survivability, start climbing the Warfare tree, getting the synergies to Onslaught and grabbing your Ancestral Guardians. However, if you feel that your character could still use a bit of work, focus on maxing resiliance (to allow you to enter the adrenaline state and charge more often), disruption
(boosting your charge immensly) and the various defensive procs.
Either way, by early epic you should have your two trees fully available. Epic should really be a blue milk run, focus on maxing the essential skills. Ensure that dodge attack, iron will and perhaps ignore pain are up to scratch before you enter Legendary.
Finally, put any left over points into one of the ‘considered’ skills or maxing out the ‘1-x’ essentials you like (such as colossus and Ancestral horn). I favour Rage, but plenty of others like rally or doom horn.
4) – Lets Talk Strategy –
Your basic strategy for the Conquerer is to target the enemies that offer the greatest threat to you – classically massed archers or casters, and use shield charge to get in close and annihilate them before they do the same to you. Learn to anticipate when charge will be ready and use it *often*.
Regular melee monsters should not provide much of a threat. The sheer number of procs going off coupled with the awesome boosts from Onslaught should raise your dps to an endgame total of 4-5k or beyond (with uber gear). You will thus be able to tank almost any mob, so long as you make a good entrance with charge and neutralize any ranged/casters. Believe me, once you get the hang of it, this build will make you cocky as all hell :).
When facing bosses, you’ll need to play it slightly safer – Beware the Ides of March : I mean, the Stomp of Talos! Learn the patterns of bosses and don’t be afraid to use hit and run tactics to wear them down. Talos, Dracolich and other one hit wonders should be approached with caution (or avoided entirely if they prove too much a threat). Drop your ancestral spirits, battle standard and engage colossus form if ever in doubt – these skills will grant you immense temporary survivability and damage against your foes.
Use the terrain wisely, back up against a wall to avoid being surrounded. If all else fails – leg it, kite your foes and try to get them into a position where you can engage them one at a time (especially those blasted Cyclopses in legendary Olympus).
On the other hand, Typhon and most melee foes will scarely be able to scratch you, and archers/casters will fall like corn beneath the scythe to a well placed shield charge!
5) – Gear –
This is a gear intensive build. I would advise you to have a decent shield, set of armor and weapon close to hand as early as possible. The Somatophylaktes plate, Spinebreaker hammer and legendary shields like Bloodthirst and Eidolon are all great choices and easy to find (the latter three are, in my experience, some of Epic Typhon’s favorite drops). Of course, nicer gear should be introduced late game, but I’d call these items (or equivalent) pretty much necessary to see the Conquerer at his best.
Your main worry is threefold – decent stun and pierce resistance, while sacrificing as little damage as possible.
I like to have at least 50 percent if not more of these resistances in legendary – not all that difficult to do, thanks to great, easy to find shields like Bloodthirst and the powerful helms available. In desparation, run Typhon on normal first, then epic to ensure you have good enough gear to survive the road ahead.
6) – Weaknesses –
The main problem with the Conquerer is that he has no pets to divert enemy attention away from him – thus all focus will be on you. If your damage resistances, stun resistance and armor rating are not up to scratch, expect to die a lot in Legendary.
The other problem is that you must literally be toe to toe with your foe to fight. While shield charge can get you there, being this close makes it difficult to avoid large blasts and nova type effects – certain bosses that barely touched you when you were ranged may offer an entirely new level of challenge to a melee build.
However, with a reasonable set of gear and decent strategy, the Conquerer can wade through most of this game with relative ease – and a ton of fun.
