Oh, i am in ! it's time to test a class i wouldn't take in xmax challenge: the stonespeaker.

The stonespeaker should be a little less squishy than its alterego the thunderer thanks to its shield ability, we shall see  ::)
I especially hope that rune weapon and earth enchantment will synergize well.

Edit: its name Strombolitto.

great. it's more fun if you're not alone. so i promise i won't leave you hanging. i promise to enter a character

honestly, i saw someone do this on twitch before. so it's very much doable... but it's easier said than done. and unless you have actually done it, you don't have anything to say you have beaten the game in its purest form

congratz to that person i can't remember his name though

I didn't know about sieg hart, but a quick search on the net gave me the answer. It seems that it fits well with an elementalist !

On the other side, Strombolitto died unexpectandly at lvl 18.
I'll think about a new toon, not sure that it will be a stonespeaker though.
Anyhow, having less time available  now, the toon will evolve slowly.

Finally, i leveled an evoker, which is close to the stonespeaker in the playstyle except that Psionic touch will take the place of Rune weapon.
This should allow Strombolitta to level at a safer distance with a staff instead of short ranged weapon.

The ideal weapon would be the MI prospector rod, easy to farm but it's a long way to go up to act 5.

Here is the progress for Act I
Spoiler for Hiden:

No farm session except for specific charms (in caves) to achieve the artifact.

Edit:
No problem Bote, take care of you.

Acts II & III

Spoiler for Hiden:

It looks like Strombolitta will be an hybrid char: a mixed between str and int and remaining attributes points go on health.

What does "pure vanilla" mean in this context? I have AE/Ragnarok but no Atlantis. Is that vanilla? Or are we talking about going back to original TQ pre IT?

I think its means the regular game as we have , without any mod / external programs like vault/deflier

Cool - that's how I play anyway haha. I might start a character just for this though - posting updates might give me the extra boost I need to actually stay alive

I decided to start a character specifically for this thread. I've played a purist hardcore playstyle for a long time, but have never been able to finish epic without dying. I'm hoping that by providing updates on my progress here, I'll be less inclined to do something stupid. I'm following the rules outlined at the top of this thread, with two additional rules:

1) I have to dual wield once I'm able. This is just a playstyle preference - using a shield for a while would certainly be better, but dual wielding cyclops clubs will be too fun.
2) No throwing weapons. Also personal preference - I feel like throwing is too strong, and Ladon's Maw is so common it just makes me sad. The other aspect is that I think the artwork on a lot of the legendary swords is awesome, though there's a good chance I'll die before I see one :)

I decided to try a dual wielding assassin. I've never tried dual wielding in this game, and I usually play the thief/rogue/assassin role in other games, so it seems like a good idea. That said, Celeste the assassin started her journey today. I started rogue, with the idea of using envenom and eventually poison bombs to make levelling easy. It probably would have been easier to start with Warfare, but all good.

My first "farming" spot was the Medicines Waylaid quest brute. Just a few kills, but sometimes you get lucky with a nice Stone Hammer. No such luck today. Next stop was Nessus. I don't usually farm Nessus because she can be really annoying at low level, but this character didn't have any problems. I did ~8 kills to gain a level worth of xp, though no outrider's gear or blues to speak of. I moved on to the Poisoned Spring Deathweavers. I was hoping to find 2x Legtips here, but 12 runs later and no luck. I did find a Deathweaver helm and shield though, so it wasn't all for nothing :)

Outside Megara I ran into the first hero mob of this playthrough, and it was two of them!! :O

That was a bit scary, but not bad. Polyphemus was super easy, and I play to kill him ~10 times to see if I can find a cyclops club, or maybe the majestic chest will cough something up.

At this point I'm level 10, so far so good!
