yes.. they refuse to adapt and instead they just whine to devs

TQ:R not much different.. if anything i would say casters shine more in act 5.. because there are the annoying water spirits (weak against lightning and EBD) and fire elementals (i think weak against cold)

wait is there a calydonian boar hero monster in TQ? because the boar that killed adonis was the calydonian boar sent by artemis.. and if we stay true to the myth, isn't it weird summoning an enemy hero monster? i know there's an erymanthian boar hero monster in TQ but it's not associated with artemis.. can't remember if there's a calydonian boar hero monster

edit: oh crap.. after some googling, the calydonian boar was the boar sent by Artemis to destroy the region of calydon.. the one that killed adonis was just mentioned as a giant boar.. or in some accounts, ares in a disguise

ok i change my vote to giant boar

and yet when i say or hear the word ragnarok, the first thing that comes to my mind is the Korean original mmorpg ragnarok online.. had fun with that game

I'll just share this here because it's roughly the same playstyle as spellbreaker.. my first char in TQAE was a melee bonecharmer (hunting/spirit).. i got her to be strong even by playing self-found because I've lost all my saves from TQIT.. i just didn't feel writing a guide because it was boring to play.. i did finish legendary with it but i don't plan to continue playing it in TQ:R.. necrosis gives huge life steal.. i maxed arcane blast instead of death nova because flush out boosts arcane blast.. and it just feels like he kills faster with it than death nova probably because he spams it in TQAE (i swear i feel the devs twinked it a bit in TQAE).. plus i need that stun for extra CC

but what perhaps seperate my toon from other bonecharmers is my favoring of recharge items even by not putting a single point in int.. i wore pelaron, talisman of jade emperor and hydra was kind enough to give me a black pearl ring of concentration.. about 65% CDR all in all.. i could get it to 80% but 65% is enough to make CotH and unearthly power permanent.. my DPS was 9k+and I'm not squishy.. just boring to play because I'm stuck with spear and shield

Heard rumours casters in AER are A DEAD LOSS...


they just don't know how to play casters.. they are stuck to old guides spoonfed to them from TQIT and are too unimaginative to think new builds/playstyles for themselves

this version of new players (with their thinking) cannot succeed the efforts put in by the old guards

yeah i know it can be done.. perhaps i phrased it wrong.. but 1 advantage of a hybrid Thane/Battlemage is it can go full hybrid and not favor int.. from my testings (i hope you read my rune observations thread), onslaught beats rune weapon.. anyway what's really bothering me is i can't use my zeus thunderbolts on my throwing weapons.. i need it against those water spirits.. shen nongs and valor of Achilles can be used on throwing weapons but not zeus thunderbolts?

edit: anyway for those who really want elemental conversion, there's a monster charm in act 5 that does that.. and with flat elemental damage too so it's like the 2nd and 4th upgrade of rune weapon.. can be used on rings and amulets

aloha.. i have a great deal of respect to those who like to experiment and that seems to include you.. i too had the same reaction at first look.. this mastery is f***in OP and makes complicated hybrids simple.. buuut the second time i looked at it, it didn't look so good.. and as i tried it in-game, it really didn't feel OP.. now i have a feeling it's just good late game as a support mastery

the last upgrade of rune weapon is not worth all those points imo except for pure int chars.. maybe not max it for hybrids but your physical damage would be lowered too and crit also gets lowered.. and %physical skills like brimstone gets diminished.. I'd rather add elemental damage to my weapon instead of convert it.. if you leave it at like lvl6 to still deal physical damage, and you get a mastery shrine, you might actually deal less damage

the %int and %damage from rune weapon seems good for casters but I'm not sure the time to build up your charge is worth it.. I'd rather spam skills the moment i encounter mobs

i tried seal of fate in a party of 2.. and most of the time when it explodes, the mobs are long dead.. the 3 second wait cannot be reduced

the flat damage absorption is good but at maxed level, the energy cost is 3k+.. and if you don't max it, i feel it's useless at legendary because it's flat absorption and not %.. you can leave it at just the right level that you still can cast it but what if you get a mastery shrine? not getting the shrine for the sole purpose of casting 1 skill feels stupid.. if you cast if before you get it, it will be long gone before the effects of mastery shrine wears off and you can't cast it again because of the high energy cost

the second menhirs cooldown is like 200+ sec right at level 1

the good skills i see are rune of life, thunder strike and runeword feather

i think it lacks synergy between its skills, %damage, and resistance reduction.. all are important late game

rune weapon has %damage but i don't like the time to build up the charge.. the upgrade of seal of fate has resistance reduction but the 3 second wait is too long and by the time you cast another seal of fate, the RR is already gone.. you can reduce resistances using weapons but other masteries can also do that

I'm not sure being a melee int is good late game as you'll be wearing mage armors.. it can be paired with defense but experimentation is meant to be free and not tied up to a certain mastery

see if you have a config file first and make a backup of it.. if you don't, maybe your tqvault has an option to change TQ path.. if you don't have config file and tqvault doesn't open, that is more difficult but still there is a way i think.. if you have config file, try to open it with a text editor (notepad will do).. then look for a line/s that says TQ path or something like that in it

thnx, this is actually my fave character

1) i actually think the nerf to 10% chance was necessary.. if not this would be too OP.. as compared to the TQIT version, i think that kills faster but the 2 are completely different in gear and stat optimization.. this knifethrower is dex/int.. before, it was mostly int and only little dex.. so this at least has more DA.. the DoT damage is actually good but resist reduction is necessary in legendary.. TQIT version was also very gear dependant.. this one is easier to equip and you become a knifethrower much earlier.. storm nimbus isn't even necessary early game because even undeads die from DoT in normal.. regarding energy cost, that's not much of an issue if you have energy leech.. actually i remember when i switched to ragnarok, i had to kill Hades again and i forgot to restack energy pots, so when i got to Hades i have no energy pots left.. i still killed him with no problems even with zero energy pots :) (and underlevelled because i skipped act 5 normal and epic)

2) well as i said this is my fave char.. but i haven't tried magician yet and i feel it would be fun too spreading knives with eruption in the middle.. and i feel undeads are weak against fire.. in my case, i cast squall, spread knives, then cast lightning bolt.. but the lightning bolt is just because i encountered that same question most of us encounter late in the game: "where do i put all these skill points at?"

ps: btw my mage haruspex build was partly inspired by your avenger and also as a response to those who say casters are weak in this game.. so thank you for that (i read it way way way before you post it here)

just enjoy the game do not worry too much about messing up a toon.. i write guides myself but i only feel confident about writing guides because i have spent hundreds of hours (if not thousands) in this game.. learn what stats do and what stats you need to wear certain items.. learn what items boost what skills.. try every skill available to you just so you could have a feel of how that skill works.. have an open mind and do not just say "this skill is bad" or "this skill is better than that skill".. understand that all skills have their pros and cons and they each have their uses.. try every skill you have first then pick a skill you like and think how it synergizes with other skills, then use it hundreds of times and see how you can make it better.. nothing beats trying it yourself.. a good example is squall, we can only say it's a good skill but it's up to the player to feel how it benefits him/her best and where to place it.. after that, try the bad ones and see how you can make them good
