General Discussion / Re: Excel file for items
« on: 03 April 2018, 09:13:24 »
the sword in the stone cannot be dropped by monsters because they cannot equip it.. they cannot pull it from the stone, only the worthy can

lol seriously i didn't know this item existed in the game

edit: i searched for it and this is what i found:

it's a club.. it seems even the hero is not worthy.. he/she cannot pull it from the stone and cannot get its magical powers ;D

I think turning immunities as high resistances into damage absorption went a little too far on the example of ice giants in Jotunheim. These are nearly immune to ice shards skill. Good thing storm mastery also has lightning but I don't want to know how earth mastery performs in Muspelheim.

There are werewolf mobs in Jotunheim that seem to have some of the highest melee damage I have seen in game. They have a double swing attack that they use on you immediately and that appears to be the source of damage spikes. It is two hits technically so heal on low health artifacts have a chance to proc. They are easy to avoid with slow or skills like the new briar ward, but you don't want to be cornered by 2 of them still. Like when teleporting from Mimir to the surface, if you logged out prior to that and the area was repopulated.
i think most of the adjustments is because we're not used to act 5 yet.. the mobs just after the golden boar, i regularly die there with xmax.. it was only recently that i figured out how to deal with them (i think).. that will all change when i die there again ;D

good eye on ice and fire giants.. on my thunderer then i will switch builds as needed.. or get both lightning and ice shards

the wolves i think deal bleed but not sure.. i think i checked that sometime before but can't remember anymore

conqueror is the class that shines much sooner in the game.
that sounds rather biased.. not saying you're right, not saying you're wrong.. it's you're personal opinion.. i think when you talk end game you should also consider end game items.. and ragnarok has so many OP items that aren't best for a conqueror: gungnir, OP throwing weapons, ring of the dragon hunter (at least for a dragon hunter).. those are just the ones i know

but one point wonders exist.. not just in this game.. maybe even before this game was created

a weird one point wonder: call of the hunt (for mages only) lelz but really the 33% damage to beasts works on spells

edit: one could argue that weapon user melees are more gear dependent because you need good weapons and high armor gear with good resists.. soothsayer is not gear dependent.. but probably it's hard for a self-found soothsayer when playing in xmax

no not at all.. first of all, i have never maxed out every skill in one character and i have several 70+characters already though I've never reached 85.. 2nd, when you're near end game, you'll always have to answer for yourself "where do i put all these skill points at?" the more sink points you can spend on, the better (usually but not always the case).. that happened to me several times.. at first i thought it's not good if there are too many good skill points to take.. but i think around the time of ragnarok release, i find it better if there are too many good skills to take.. main exception is my mage haruspex, all i really need to max are study prey, monster lure and distortion wave.. I've maxed those quite early and it's still too good.. 3rd is skill progression.. some skills are best when maxed, some are best left as one point wonders, some are good at around 5 points.. so it's not really the more sink points the better, or the less the better.. personally i prefer nature than warfare but many people probably prefer warfare.. 4th, it's not really the more skill points the better, or the less the better.. it's how you distribute it.. and how it goes well with the stats you take and the items you choose to wear

edit: there is a good soothsayer build.. permanent outsider with lots of pets.. all of them have HoO and permanent unearthly power.. unearthly power is weird.. when applied to allies, they get the buffs but not the health penalty.. only you get the penalty but that wouldn't matter because of briar ward sanctuary.. it's not too hard to make either because of refresh and circle of power.. and if you have enough skill points, you can maybe mix ternion.. so that's an example of the more sink points the better

edit 2: eidolon shell and echo of tartarus.. heh heh heh heh >:D ..  too bad i just can't bring myself to enjoy pet heavy builds

ritualist I'm not sure yet but some of the things i can think: trance of empathy so pets get life steal and thorns.. of course with nightmare mastermind.. strength of the pack to boost distortion wave then plague.. i think that also costs lots of skill points.. hmm if summon outsider from echo of tartarus procs with distortion wave this could be good heh heh heh heh >:D

edit 3: eh just saw this

Runemaster AE / Re: Runic Elemental Shotgun

though I cheated a bit at the latter - lobbed a Volcanic Orb at him straight from the entrance, put down an Eruption, started swarming Rune Weapon and Thunder Strike at him and simply switched Stone Form on when I knew I couldn't take it anymore without dying.
where's the cheat there?
max energy armor with guardian stones is the solution to melinoes i think.. W,  cast,  W

Can you have a look at this ?

i read.. and i found it quite... ... ... funny..  lol sorry to Monzcato dude

saying the game is unbalanced because the masteries don't have the same sink points is poor reasoning

let's compare gouge and open wound.. both give %chance of bleeding.. but gouge only needs 6 skill points to max, open wound needs 12.. I'd much rather take gouge.. nature has 256 sink points while warfare has 196, does that mean nature is so much better than warfare? or warfare because it needs less skill points? neither really

i think there is good balance between the masteries already.. it's just different people prefer different playstyles and they think the masteries they don't like are weak.. i like casters but earth really isn't my playstyle.. but Firebrand and CrocMagnum seem to do good with earth.. many people don't like casters so maybe they don't like storm and maybe they say storm is weak.. I'm ready to prove them wrong.. i remember reading somewhere someone said rogue is trash.. i just chuckled but i did say that "just because you can't make it work doesn't mean it's trash"

edit: eh my tablet didn't copy at first

edit 2: he did say the more skill points you have, the stronger you are.. damn so the 2 strongest classes in the game are soothsayer and ritualist.. and warden is the weakest followed by conqueror

Guides AE / Re: House of Flying Daggers Build
« on: 31 March 2018, 11:14:05 »
@Gautrec how about ice shards?

I think it's heresy for a "House of Flying Daggers" build to not use Throwing Knives, and investing in both TK and Ice Shards seems a bit redundant to me.

But wow, somebody remembers this movie. The movie was pretty famous in name, but at the same time pretty pretentiously shitty. Personally, if I had to do a build inspired by this movie, I can't see it being anything other than a poison briar Illusionist. After getting the core skills, there should be enough skillpoints left with Ragnarok AE, to get Plague, Poison Gas Bomb, Regrowth, or the Nymph, to get a movie-true bitchy hippy female sidekick.
This build obviously wasn't inspired by the movie but i liked the title enough to use it

I actually liked the film on my first watch but you called it "pretentiously shitty" so i had to watch it again.. and you know what? you're right it wasn't that good.. the fight scenes were slow, the plot had too many twists for a 2hr film, the theme was a little corny.. i wouldn't call it shitty though, the nature backgrounds were just too good

There's no point in changing titles much less the build now but i get the briar ward throwing knife build.. this would've made a good pic

like absorption of spell energy right?

afaik you get energy per enemy attack.. if it scales off enemy damage or energy cost of spells cast by monsters, I'm not sure.. but i think the 2nd one (energy cost)

it feels weird though because you benefit most from it if you're a melee.. but melee toons don't need much energy.. energy pots are usually enough.. energy gain is useful for a caster but if you're a caster, you should try not to get hit or not to get hit much.. so unless you're a weird hybrid caster melee, energy absorption seems an odd source of energy gain (i think)

I'd much rather prefer energy leech, reduced energy cost, or %energy regen

Anniversary Edition - General discussion / Masteries Sink Points
« on: 31 March 2018, 00:58:18 »
good day people.. I've made the boring task of counting how many skill points you can spend on each mastery.. i know this doesn't mean anything, i mean why would you want to max a skill you hardly have any use for? and there's not enough skill points to max each skill anyways.. but, well (shrugs) :}

nature is the mastery that gives the most sink points, while warfare the least

runes: 228
spirit: 232
nature: 256
dream: 232
storm: 230
earth: 246
rogue 228
warfare: 196
hunting: 204
defense: 202

numbers include mastery points (32) ie: warfare mastery, defense mastery

Warfare AE / Re: Flurry of Steel and Fire - The Berserker
« on: 30 March 2018, 23:28:35 »
hello there.. I've been theorycrafting myself with a berserker for a few days now actually.. and the more i think of it, the more I'm swayed to playing it as a hybrid.. i too would make it a dual wielder but i remember my assassin had serious survivability issues late legendary and it wasn't even ragnarok already, just AE.. even with max nightshade and mandrake, life steal in both weapons and 1400+ DA.. that's when i took traps and it has helped with my survivability.. but what really helped was when i wore recharge items to make battle standard permanent.. so on my theorycrafts, that is what I'll aim for also.. but hybrids often needs total damage to benefit from all the stats it's taking.. that's where rune weapon comes in.. and of course, how many times I've said this already, symbol of the polymath :) .. battle standard gives huge flat physical and triumph reduces physical resist.. plus 99% of your attacks will crit so str wouldn't be wasted.. symbol of the polymath and a robust/hale ring probably would be enough to divide your stats into 3

I'm not trying to convince you though.. I'm sure you've thought about it plenty already.. i just write it here so i can go back here if i forget it

i think you meant runeword:explode though.. i have runeword explode and burn on both my thunderer and skinchanger and I've never seen fragments (runeword:burn) proc off melee attacks.. but I'm pretty sure runeword:explode proc off melees.. i attack multiple enemies and the animation is different.. kind of like gouge from hunting

Hunting AE / Re: Shuriken Storm
« on: 30 March 2018, 23:26:07 »
I'm inclined to think that volley doesn't proc off thunder strike also but not for the same reason.. it's kind of like runeword:burn doesn't proc off thunder strike (for dual throwing at least).. I'm pretty sure otherwise i would've noticed it

some passive skills do proc off other skills, not just regular attacks.. gouge procs off shield attacks.. reckless offense procs off lethal strike (only for dual throwing).. and the granted skills from items proc off thunder strike, warwind, lethal strike, etc

Rogue AE / Re: Question About Open Wound
« on: 28 March 2018, 12:01:34 »
hey welcome back.. hmm i check what i wrote on my rogue guide:

Open Wound:
Adds a chance to inflict bleeding damage when attacking with a sharp or pointed weapon.

skill lvl: 1/12
33% Chance of 27 Bleeding Damage Over 3 Seconds

skill lvl: 12/12
33% Chance of 309 Bleeding Damage Over 3 Seconds

skill lvl: 16/12
33% Chance of 441 Bleeding Damage Over 3 Seconds

It's a passive skill so it's worth a point i guess. It has been boosted in AE/R and bleed now scales with dex but it's still useless against undeads and constructs. It seems to affect throwing knife (the skill) provided you equip a spear, bow, or throwing weapon. But it's still meh

rating: 1/5

looks just about right.. it doesn't have any icon.. it procs more often with multi attacks.. but still, there are better skills to take.. just leave it at 1 point

this is AE/R version though.. you posted in IT? i don't know which version of the game you have
