Hey, I have a question about ADCtH - does it work with DoT damages or it convert only direct, flat dmg?
-
From what i know it is not, and ACVtH is some kind of Vitality dmg => its very useless when facing undead type monsters.
-
1. ADCTH will only proc HP refill to player IF & ONLY IF the damage done in this hit to the mob is not a kill damage. So best used with mobs who dont get 1 shot.
2. ADCTH is similar resistance to vitality but seperate & undead & bosses have very low/zero susceptibility. Hero mobs have same resistance to ADCTH as their origin class.
3. undead susceptibility can be increased by "of betrayer", monkey-king, & some class talents (necrosis comes to mind, not 100% sure).
4. Works with any type of damage, static or DoT, as long as attack isnt fatal in this hit.

You can test with Undead ( skeleton) to reveal ADCtH work or not with them.
Its nearly useless in normal case, even when debuff reduced resistances of Undead Skeleton enemies.

you could leach HP from undead after debuffing in IT, no idea about ragnarok. Ill try to find the web-archive of theorycrafting thread with numbers from old forums.
undead resistance is close to 100, so you'd have to throw many stacks of -resistance for it to work, but i HAVE DONE it in graveyards in IT, i do non-potion runs with massbosses, using hunter AoE.

i think you are confusing ADCtH with life leech.. 1 is true for life leech but not for ADCtH
ADCtH does not work with DoT but life leech does if I'm not mistaken (not sure)
since AE you can't life steal from undeads anymore even with necrosis or reduced resist

edit: I've tested ADCtH before with poison.. no life return
edit 2: but someone here said before that you can life steal from undead dogs (act 2) but not from skeletons
edit 3: ahh i found the link for edit 2

edit 4 (promise this is last edit :)
ADCtH does not have anything to do with vit res.. it is resisted by life leech res

1 Q. guys:
ADCTH seems to work more effectively if its on jewellery/artifact as compared to weapon. Is that legit observation or not?

in the case of throwing knife (rogue skill) for sure yes
another possible answer is flat damage from other items like pendant of immortal rage or rage of ares possibly is not affected by ADCtH from weapon, but from jewelry yes
(needs confirmation)
but damage bonus is added directly to the weapon.. if it says bonus on the description (this has been tested by clex in one of his videos)
-
ADCTH is just flat (non-DoT) life leech, so shouldn't they work just the same?
-
I'm not sure if life leech procs off DoT.. but ADCtH does not
-
No. Life leech procs off Life leech and no other type of DoT.
-
Alot of useful info there. Thank you all for your answers :)

As far as I could figure, there seem only 2 artifacts with ADCTH:
Soul Shiver
Elemental Rage
Anyone knows others?
(Soul Shiver seems to have been nerfed with new patch)

I believe those are the only ones.
If you desperately need ADCTH, you would have more options when looking at other types of equipment.

another option is at least 2 pieces of children of ares set.. i like phobos + deimos.. 2 pieces gives 10% ADCtH

1 Q. guys:

This is because ADCTH on weapons only works when that weapon is used. However ADCTH on any other source works on both weapons (and throwing knives).
That means, for any dual wield, since both weapon has equal chance to be used, ADCTH on one weapon has 50% effectiveness compared with ADCTH on any other source. Passive or active skills that uses both weapon at same time does not change the conclusion. For Defense mastery toons, your shield active and passive skills involves both weapon and shield to attack. In these senerios, the damage from your weapon procs ADCTH, but damage from your shield does not. Since 1H+shield does not always proc shield attack, the overall effectiveness of ADCTH on weapon is higher than 50% (also note that base damage of shields are lower than those of most weapons of same tier), I think it should be around 65%.
To conclude, non-weapon (and shield) ADCTH is the more effective way if your other weapon can be used in attacks.
