Anniversary Edition - General discussion / Help a new player

I'm new of the game, got it from Steam in free offer, but not new to this kind of games even if i found this one, compared to other RPG like Skyrim, very micro unfriendly and that could be the reason i'm doing that bad.
After a few unsuccessful attempts and after readin a lot of guides on the net i managed to create a couple good characters. My best one, and the one i'm asking help for, is a Conqueror Defence and Warfare; everything went very smooth, i killed easy Polyphemus, the Gorgon sisters and all Telkine, until i reached Olimpus. Before that i think i died two three times, to kill the cyclop i died 40 times because the only way i found to kill him was: Colossus, Shield Charge, a few, very few indeed hits, Die, resurrect, repeat until cyclop dead, but i'm not asking how to kill him easier and farm, seen how i'm going now i dont think i will restart at an harder difficulty level, i'm asking help because from Rhodes on, now i'm in Hades, i started to die often and after depleting a stack of near 150 health potions i had to buy 100 more to continue; i want to finish the game and if possible not die every other group of monsters i meet.
Being an old time gamer i well know the basic strategies like pulling, kiting etc; being a very old time gamer i think i know how to equip my character: fixed bonus use fast weapon, big multiplier on special attack use a slow powerful one, try not to use weapons with a kind of damage your opponent is resistant; being a REALLY old time gamer, i played DOOM the original and i was already an adult, my micro sucks and there is little i can do.
My build, according to some guides i read is pretty standard for the character: i'm level 35, i have both masteries maxed at 32; in Warfare: weapon training and onslaught maxed, a couple points in Standard and his child, a single point in Onlaught childs; in Defense: a couple points in Battle Awareness and his childs, one in Quick Recovery Shield Charge and all the passives on rightmost column, a few point in Charge child Disruption
My usual tactics is: look for the enemy caster, wait for someone near him, Shield Charge to mass stun, Standard, and hit using Batter when out of cooldown. This worked very well in Greece and Egypt, fairly well in China and sucks in Rhodes; when i win i always have to drink a potion to recover my health and very often a couple others during the fight. My armor is 333 OA 488 (i score nice crits often) DA 328 and resistances around 20%
My base stats are HPS 3558, mana 340, Str 469 Int 70 and Dex 266; havent found yet any Str Dex equipment i like but cannot use, i obviously sell all Int stuff
Most my equipment is blue apart a green, but Prometheus enhanced, mace DPS 450 and a yellow shield with +1 defence skill Archimedes enhanced; artifact is the Shroud of Eternal Night, a really powerful one that enhanced my life quality a lot when equipped, i have a few higher level ones but they dont look that good, and i realized that selling all duplicate blueprint was a stupid thing because i have the blueprint for an advaced one that requires an artifact i have but cannot rebuild
