Haha yeah it’s really annoying, gonna have nightmares about forgetting rebirth fountains now lol.

I’m more frustrated about the self-found thing - I really wanted to get one self-found char over the line, just to say that I could, but I really, really don’t want to redo all the hours I spent at Arachne/Dark Spirit Conduit/Sandqueen Masika. I want to try to up the ante as I feel that with 3 characters clearing the challenge I’ve proven I can beat the game twinked now, but I just don’t want to repeat the hours I’d already spent grinding. We’ll see.

Plus i’m convinced now that Nature is a curse for me - every time I make a Nature deathless it dies lmao. The petmancer approach just felt terrible, think I was making myself too weak to try to buff the wolves and needed to focus more on survivability

And just like that the challenge comes to an end  :( and in the stupidest way too.

In the Tower of Judgment, I kill Cerberus and make it to Elysium. Easy. Start talking to my partner and put the phone down before tapping the rebirth fountain, and the game logs out. Fine, I’ll just kill Cerberus again, no big deal.

Nope. An inch of my toe was touching the floor poison cracks and I got melted. RIP Vaylon. First death in several days worth of TQ but hell it stings. Gonna need to take a break as I really can’t face Helos again right now haha

Ended up breezing through Act III as I didn't need to farm anything. The enemies are definitely starting to catch up to the Act II levelling - Typhon was just a kite-job and most of the Atlantis bosses have been too.

Did my usual - get to Styx, turn to Atlantis. Current progress is:

Kalimon / Vaylon / Soothsayer / Level 42 / Outer Atlantis / AER/A / Self-found, Green items only

(Atlantis and Hades to come when I reach Act V)

Vaylon crushes Act II! I did a tonne of farming here, firstly on the Dark Spirit Conduit for XP, then Sandqueen Masika for a formula I need down the line for the Talisman of the Jade Emperor artefact (Song of the Serpent).

The formula took a long time to drop, so I’m pretty overlevelled right now. Need to do some gear shopping when I reach Chang’an for better gear, as I’m still running a Totemic staff. But thankfully all the farming I needed to do on Normal is done now, so I can take my time and enjoy the rest of the difficulty farming-free.

Anyway, photo proof here: https://imgur.com/a/xmzposs

Vaylon is through Act I Normal! Finished at level 22, with a lot of farming done. Got some decent gear so far, some Stonebinders, and on to Act II. Will likely use Soul Drain to carry me through the base game with Outsider for bosses, and then re-perk to be more of a petmaster when I’ve got better pet gear and more perk points available.

But so far so good! Only Blue item to drop that hurt to pass over was a Necromancer’s Staff, but I just chucked it straight in the transfer section, bound for the bank.

Edit:

Never mind did a resistant check and going to change, please ignore!

Hi all

Trying to do a self-found Soothsayer with only Rare armour (no Epic or Legendary). More details below, but I was wondering if people would rate the gears I’ve theoried for the build:

  • Head: Purifying Tinkerer helm, slotted with Legendary Hag’s Skin (with Pierce resist completion bonus) and Legendary Boar Hide (with Pierce resist completion bonus);
  • Torso: Master Seer Robes, slotted with Legendary Hag’s Skin (with Pierce resist completion bonus);
  • Arms: Stonebinder’s Cuffs, slotted with Legendary Pristine Plumage (with Bleed resist completion bonus);
  • Feet: Shaman’s Leggings, slotted with Legendary Pristine Plumage (with Bleed resist completion bonus);
  • Ring 1: Wraithlord’s Tinkerer ring, slotted with Legendary Demon’s Blood (with Vitality resist completion bonus) and Incarnation of Monkey King’s Trickery (with Pierce resist completion bonus);
  • Ring 2: Hale Ring of Might, slotted with Legendary Demon’s Blood (with Vitality resist completion bonus);
  • Amulet: Sacred Tinkerer amulet, slotted with Incarnation of Monkey King’s Trickery (with Pierce resist completion bonus) and Incarnation of Atlas’ Endurance (with Bleed resist completion bonus);
  • Weapon: Wraithlord’s Staff of Enslavement, slotted with Incarnation of Prometheus’ Flame (with Fire resist completion bonus);
  • Artefact: Wheel of Taranis.

Currently the resists are all between 125 and 180, with Vitality and Fire (key for Acts IV and V) both being nearly max.

Basically, I want the build to be a heavy petmancer (have never played a dedicated pet build and normally avoid them), so there needs to be a high +Skills count (currently at +6) and some gears that help empower pets (currently 3 pet-focused affixes). I also want to be able to get the gear sooner rather than later, and all the items here (except the Torso) can be found before the DLCs on Legendary (Atlantis stuff can all be found in Gadir). I also don’t mind farming, and appreciate that some of the gear will be difficult to get, but I don’t mind sinking the time in for the challenge.

Having said all that, I’m still unsure on some of the gears, and could do with some pointers on things I could improve/take out. I have considered subbing out the Artefact, Helm and Boots for a Jade Emperor’s Talisman, Hallowed Helm and some sort of Tinkerer boots, but haven’t done all the calculations, and am worried the resists would suffer as a result. Any advice would be welcome!

Thanks!

Spent last night planning out the build - resistances, unique items etc. Most of it shouldn’t be too difficult to find, other than the boots (0.14% from Snuuk, the Neanderthal Shaman) and the Sacred Amulet (from Atlantis shops). Looking forward to the challenge! Allow me to introduce:

Kalimon / Vaylon / Theurgist / Level 7 / Spartan War Camp / AER/A / SELF-FOUND, GREEN ITEMS ONLY

I have been thinking about that, maybe a Ternion build, but it seems like it would be a weak version of another combination - how could it be played? I am thinking that I’ll do a petmancer build for this one, given that all the best pet gear is green anyway. Also means I don’t have to break my back farming difficult bosses, just time wasting opening the Atlantis shops a million times aha

10
So I’ve been thinking. I feel that after completing 3 twinked builds, including one quite challenging and off-meta one (the LDash Oracle), I need a bit of a challenge for the next one, rather than just running through the motions.

So I’m tripling-down. Soothsayer (yuck), self-found (cry), green-only (cry harder). Will take more frequent screenshots as I’m working through the game, showcasing equipment as well as stats and boss kills to show I’m not cheating. Should be a challenge!!

Thanks Medea! Gonna try get all the Spirit classes over the line, if I have the time while I’m travelling, as I have so much gear from all the Fafnir farming I did on my casual build.

I’ve already theory-crafted and equipped a few builds: a conversion Blessing of the Moirae Bone Charmer, a Moros Nyx staff attack Diviner, and a heavy-hitting Bone Crusher Spellbinder. I’m also currently gearing out a dual-wield Spellbreaker, but I don’t have a Mantle of Sa’Jun, so it’s hard to balance resists (if you have any advice on Spellbreaker please do say, I’m starting to think I’m either gonna have to re-farm or use a shield). Really not looking forward to Soothsayer, as I hate pets, but I’ll find a way around it aha.

Haven’t decided which one I’m going to run yet, and am saving the Legendary Legendary Craftsmanship buff from my Conjurer for the weapon of whichever class I choose.

And that’s a wrap! A third hero emerges, as Vekh-Sedjet defeats Surtr and crosses the line.

Not gonna lie, Legendary Act V gave the Conjurer some trouble. Had a lot of close calls, and Necrosis/Unearthly Power-buffed Life Drain no longer one-hit all the giants. But got there in the end.

Final update: Kalimon / Vekh-Sedjet / Conjurer / Level 75 / AER/A (TWINKED)

Hades and Atlantis completed. Had a couple of very close calls, Death Ward coming in big as usual (think I have a crutch with DW now haha). Once when I got mobbed by two of the big crustacean things in Atlantis, another when I ran into a room and got ran on by 2 GM Machae Archers. Yuck.

However, was rewarded for my troubles with an absolute gift - Legendary Erebus Crystal with the +2 skills.

Last go round and then V-S can join Vornn and Valkia!

Anniversary Edition - General discussion / Re: Throwing Weapons
« on: 07 February 2023, 01:15:28 »
Dual-wielding you throw both weapons, and the weapon thrown will be at random, with the occasional time where both of them are thrown at once;

You gain global effects (eg Resistances) from both of them at all times, but on-hit effects (eg Attack Damage Converted to Health from the weapon) are only triggered when the weapon itself is used;

Throwing weapons work to proc both the Rune tree and the Warrior tree. Throwing weapon warrior mixes are an incredibly potent build set basis for physical throwing weapon builds (for Int conversion builds, just use Rune).

I also had a quick look at your Steam post. Maxing primary resists is always a good start, but beyond that, the best defence becomes a strong offence, particularly on mid-Epic and Legendary. At higher levels, enemies will simply overpower you, and if you can’t put them down rapidly they’ll swarm and overwhelm you. Don’t worry about maxing physical and secondary resists, it’s very difficult to do and you won’t face enemies with each secondary resist enough to be worth it.

Dodge/Avoid attacks are cool, but very difficult to stack, and if you can get to the max of 80%, the cost of capping it will be that the attacks that do get through could one-hit you. Have a bit if you want, but don’t max it.

Defensive and Offensive Ability, however, are super important. With low DA, enemies will always Crit you, and with low OA, you’ll never hit enemies. In general, physical attackers should go 1:1 Str/Dex, while Int users should go 2:1 Int/Dex, with the occasional health points sprinkled in.

In conclusion, good DA and near-maxed primary resists is enough defensive-wise. These are all my own opinions, and others please do feel free to correct me, but I think the only viable defensive build is damage reflect Evoker. With Icescale armour and Athena’s Shield and the Dream perks, you can create a viable reflected that can melt mobs without attacking. Super OP (apparently), but massively gear dependent. There are a lot of videos on YouTube you could check out.

Hope that helps!
