nargil66 gave me the idea:

moving all extracted arc folders to the database folder of the game will let the editor pick up on the assets and display the world map!

SOLVED!

Is there a config file I can make, or do I need to hex-edit the Editor itself?
If so, what do I need to change exactly?

Modifications / How to make the Editor work with extracted arcs?

I've extracted all the arcs for easy modding. With the options.txt entry "use archives = false" the game runs fine. The Art Manager does too. But the Editor refuses to show the (game's decompiled) map. There's just a black window. With the arcs in place, the map shows fine. So I assume the editor is looking for arcs.

How can I tell the Editor to not use archives?

Is there also a text to tga converter for the new file format?
tga is better than dds (quality loss + power of two limitation)

You are absolutely right. That was the question. And you seem to have to solution. (But I can visually prefer a workaround, can I not?)

Anyway, how did you do it? Did you modify the animation? If so, which one?

And even more interesting, how did you achieve this: "I found a way to disable the fall of loot on the ground, thereby solving the problem in which the loot cannot be picked up"
I have exactly that problem!

A workaround is to to make the death effect "dissolve" and the dissolve time 0.5 secs...

This is version 1.1 - the error probably was made because of the 7zip extension.

This viewer cannot open the tex files from Xpacks 3 and 4.

It seems only the Texture Viewer that comes with Grim Dawn can do that...

It's possible with the arcs, but not with the database.arz - probably because it is hardcoded referenced as an arz file...

How to run the game with the arcs (and arz) extracted?
Does anyone know? I cannot find any information about this. It would make modding the main game and checking the results A LOT FASTER and easier...

I tried, but with the arcs extracted, the main menu doesn't show text (it shows tags). I did change "use archives" to "false" in the user settings file.
And with the database.arz extracted, graphics and such are not picked up (black menu background).

So... is it possible? And if so, how?
