For my stats i went with 170 str to have enough for legendary sbc and 1:1 dex:int for DA and energy regen (it's negligible on normal play bit ot matters a lot on 0 potions rins) .

As for the mastery choice, i went with nature because all pets have incredible damage potential without any special gear: wolfs destroy normal monsters and nymph kills bosses because of the safe distance.
Earth mastery: earth elemental. Without this pet xmax with 0 deaths is impossible. The dude is crazy overpowered. It can tank 3 bosses without dropping in health.
Stone form + refresh: a great life saver. When you spawn undeads or deamons that trigger on walk-by they will attack the person that spawned them (even with the taunt still of the elemental).
Earth enhancement for a bit of +% phys dmg (for the wolfs)
Ya I'm playing hardcore 0 death and untwinked but not playing xmax.

Well, wanna try pet summoner. Just cannot imagine how strong core dweller is in the mid and end game. I'll try and see then.

Str just for legendary sbc? Sounds cool, then rest int dex like traditional summoner then?

Would like to see some pics when you have a time.

Here you go. As you can see i have nothing special equiped. As for farms, minotaur labyrinth for sbc and the eliseum vendor for the necklace and helmet.  (ignore my resists. I just went into epic and i will keep going untill the end of act 3 when i will farm more vendor gear.). Remember to always play around the relics and charms to fit your resistances.  +

Core is really strong in normal and first act of epic. I will try to finish legendary as well, so keep following this topic. There will be more regular updates on my progress.

Hi everyone, veteran TQ player here, i want to join the challenge, so far got to Charon in Hades.  ;D

Namefunny - Valkyrie Dome - L51 Paladin (TWINKED) - Unfinished Bridge

So far it's very easy, mostly due to my build, which is centered around Perfect Block skill from Defense Mastery. With +4 to all skills, -80% recharge and 393% casting speed i can use Perfect Block all the time and absorb 100% of the damage for the most time (duration is 1.1 seconds, recharge is 1.3). So yeah, this is pretty much as easy as it can get, nothing is challenging at all, I tried this before on the other character built the same way on legendary, and it almost feels like cheating. So i could make it no potions, and even untwinked (famous spear could be found in normal atlantis orbs), but this is my first time and i also wanted to easily  get some stuff on normal, because all my new characters have started as accomplished, and i'm missing a lot of normal artifacts ;D

I also have screenshots from all previous bosses if someone is interested how it looked like before. This gear was like that since LVL 41, and i started using perfect block at LVL 43-44. Nothing special here, weightless stonebinders cuffs, weightless Bai Hu Mantle, Stheno of Focus, occult rings, Polaris and purifying bandari greaves to have some good resistances. I also keep Flowing Shield of Euphrates insted of Pelaron because i don't have one with max recharge value.

Let's say you do it untwinked... What are you going to do until you get all these items? You ain't going to get that +3 Stonebinders until Legendary (if you survive until then), and good luck farming that spear on an untwinked character - the damn thing simply doesn't drop. I've spend days farming for it, and i feel like i'll never get it. And i don't think it will be cheap to get it from gambled orbs. You have to get incredibly lucky, or go broke trying.
Playing with stashed gear is as broken as broken gets, and it's one of the biggest flaws the game has. There's no balance whatsoever and everything before legendary difficulty becomes obsolete. Might as well start posting when you get to the last difficulty, because there is no challenge until you get there. Either that, or do it the hard way... the untwinked way.

Hey and welcome to this challenge! As much as i like playing the game untwinked and without potions and what @Zardoz said is in line with my playstile, i disagree with his opinion in regards to this competition. Being powerful won't take you too far and a moment of recklessness can take you out.
And even if an overpowered build will take you to the end of legendary, that is more than fine. If you are having fun when smashing skulls on steroids you play the game right.

So again, welcome, good luck, have fun and keep us updated. I'll be waiting for you in epic :))

Anyone who's been that far along in the game know if these still hold true or not from the OP?

NOTE: In the IT version of this mod it's not possible to do the Sphinx quest and the Protect the Flag quest, you need to revert to the normal game to do these and then re-enter the mod to continue once you've completed them and got your reward.  The latest version of Xmax for TQAE should work properly.

NOTE: The Three Sisters side quest is bugged in the AE version of the mod, the heroes don't spawn so you'll need to go back into normal game to do this quest. 20.06.19: Steam version of Xmax mod seems to have this quest fixed.

Because I'm playing with this version of Xmax

x-max x10 with Atlantis support

and there's a comment in there that said all versions of Xmax still have a problem with the quest in Act 2.  Seen nothing about a problem with the 3 Sisters quest or the flag one.

Got a bit further with my Soothsayer today, she's up to L28 and has reached Memphis.  Pets struggling a bit, often need to resummon a wolf.  Alastors were particularly hard; needed to retreat back through the door to resummon a few times.  They did finally manage to bring them down though.

You're right, it is a very rare drop and i would have to collect a ton of gold to even have a reasonable chance. There is however an easier to get alternative which is Blue Dragon Scales... But anyway, icesharder paladin would not be that difficult (difficult, but there are harder classes) to develop even without things that this build relies on.

If i try untwinked, in opposite to this run, i will do it as difficult as possible. No potion runs are very impressive to me, but without Nature/Spirit/Dream mastery, they can be absolute hell. Maybe untwinked Magician using stone form to regenerate health.

I also want to say that with Storm, Spell Breaker, not Squall, is the best tool for progress. Might be actually best of all masteries in that regard. Low recharge, high radius, easy to cast and good damage to kill lot of monsters in the beginning. You will also be able to kill monsters that are more dangerous easier because they have energy bar.

I didn't have any problem except that Nebekhau was missing first time. I just reloaded the game (with xmax) and then they were there.

For me (AEAR version) all quests work fine with xmax. I only have to disable xmax when i get to the asgard gardens. The game just shuts down at random points and i find that place impossible to progress. It even happens without xmax. So I usually log on non-xmax and run through.

That and typhon are the hardest bosses to beat with a pet character. And all bosses that use AOE damage. But in Epic, god.... You blast everything.

Now, for my update:

Greece done. Bosses that were troublesome in normal were now peace of cake. The pets are crazy with the epic upgrade. Now, for the rest of my evening i need to farm epic sbc and search the database for a good relic to use. I like razor claw for the pet damage but i want to aim for smth better.

Which version of the mod are you using stormyboy and Namefunny?  I recently switched to this one

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1780561671&searchtext=x-max

Seems to be more up to date than the other one on Steam that hasn't been updated since 2016.

Thanks for the tip. I will add this one to the game and roll with it. I have played with the default one that comes with the steam game.

So, today i have played with the version of xmax you found on steam and it seems the quests are not fixed on this one. They work on the xmax the game has installed by default -> https://imgur.com/FIT7tfB

Game doesn't have Xmax installed as a default, it's something you have to download like any other mod.

When i installed the game fresh on a new computer it came with following mods (on steam):
https://imgur.com/So26dLe (the xmax pack, not the first 2)
https://imgur.com/eCYeDpr
That old xmax won't show damage but all quests work well with it.

As for my update, act 3 is done. The titan took a loooooong time to kill. But not as long as on normal.
