its been a well-documented issue with TQ for its entire lifespan that normal is much more difficult than epic. TQAE definitely seems more difficult to me than previous versions. It's important to remember that it is just a game and the ultimate goal is to have fun rather than win.

it makes sense logically, but balancing may be hard as I am guessing there is less %phys out there than %cold and %elemental. although I guess you could just up the damage of the skill! (or lots of frostburn)

you are right about lack of cold skills. Maybe add something to Spirit? LoC had some cold damage for pets in spirit. And I know Soulvizier had a freezing blast skill in storm. Torchlight 2 had a ice/physical skill tree for their berserker class.

I like the thought of an ice-sword wielding liche warrior.

you have lots of good ideas Hector, I highly recommend trying to figure out the initial steps of modding. If you can get past setting up the artmanager and figuring out the folder locations to put arz extractions it is actually really fun to tinker around with the game.

cause im a low-down dirty rotten no good cheatin SCOUNDREL.

I love the new rune mastery for early game, a few points into runeweapon and the elemental damage synergy and I have flown through act 1 in a few hours, just reached heraklion. Just picked up Seal of Fate and I love it. Ragdolling gorgons all over the place. Goal is to rush 32 in rune, pick up absorb for mana and then get aftershock, as I assume it is the main boss killer.

testing out random dream skills and that is what dropped after killing nessus. I will go the INT route. I also kinda want to see what Rune weapon could do for Trance of Wrath on a melee Seidr

Wow, shocking lack of respect for the poor runesmith. It sounds like a non-defense mastery may be in order? I feel like earth or storm are the obvious picks, but would a melee elemental based skinchanger be effective? Heart of Oak and Plague and then lots of rune skills. I will need to retreat to my mossy meditation cave and think on this.

Always loved defense, wanting to test out the new rune mastery and it looks to have some good things even for a phyiscal dmg based defender. (dmg boosting lmb attack, seal of fate/aftershock, good buffs, runeword explode)
However it looks much more focused on elemental damage, and that 100% int boost from runeweapon looks very tasty indeed.

INT based build- Pros
different from other defenders
smart
maximizes rune buffs and skills
makes his own preserves in mason jars
cons-
defenses phys dmg boosts WASTED
harder to gear?

STR based build - Pros
Still gets some good buffs from rune- and takes full advantage of defense
easier to gear
Can move heavy logs easily (good if building a cabin)
cons-
doesnt maximize potential of rune weapon
may be easily conned by nefarious vendors
wont fight the week an adam sandler movie releases

Polyphemus. He and I met by accident at City Bank one day when he asked to borrow a pen. Our hands briefly touched during the exchange, an instant spark of electric anticipation was awoken in both our souls. Our eye(s) locked. From that moment on we both knew. We shared a flat in the city for a few years, he busy working freelance gigs writing think pieces while working on his screenplay, and I with my etsy shop knitting artisanal scarves for cats. When he, unilaterally, decided that the city was stifling his creativity and a move to a more rural setting was in order, our relationship was severely tested, as this was not what I, or either of our fur-babies, had ever wanted. Both Emily Dickinson and Kitty Purry had grown up with us in the city, learning from a young age to savor the fish market and tire fire aromas, while watching the hustle and bustle from the 2nd story window overlooking the street. I argued that wrenching them from their home and out into some godforsaken wilderness would scar them terribly. But Poly was like that, always taking charge and getting things done, and once his mind was made up it would happen come hell or high water. I suppose that was what had attracted me so much to him in the first place, but what I once saw as power and determination now reflected only as recklessness and selfishness. But whats done is done and we now have a cozy cottage near the coast, Poly throwing himself fully into writing, while Emily and Kitty go stir-crazy with the lack of entertainment outside the window. It has been an adjustment period for me, but the locals seem nice enough (if not deadly dull), and I have been working to start an orphanage, so that we may bring in stray youths from the area and club them and eat their bones.

Spider Skill ideas:
Poison bite
Poison Spray (AoE projectile? Like ternion but poison?)
Paralyzing bite (Slow+Stun)
Baby Spiderlings! (Spawn a brood of spiderlings that swarm enemies. And explode!)
Terrifying Visage (Aura with a debuff? Do skeletons already do this?)
Bonus dmg vs insectoids. (its what they eat!) passive/aura/party buff what ever

Just as a general note 'sexual cannibalism' would make a good band name.

what if you made them hidden from combat so they couldnt draw enemy aggro, and then just have a hoard of 10+ of them roaming around doing minimal damage. (talking the warriors as timed summons)

Or howzabout this humdinger of an idea? a skillmodifier branch for wraithking, that required a large energy reserve skill to unlock a summoning skeletons skill. So wraith would summon them for free, but once the predecessor skill is unlocked, with like 900 energy reserved, he wont be able to use any of his other skills. So gain an army at the expense of losing amazing wraith king skills.

Your initial surmisement is correct, I plan on bashing things with a shield to slow and confuse enemies. Looks like they nerfed throwing knives, so 1 points in Posion Gas Bomb for some AoE slow?

Although I suppose now I am required by the binding laws of the Christmas season to pick one of your 4 less popular but fun builds. Rules are rules.

so i actually tested this.. my tests aren't complete yet but early results show that pierce conversion happens after str bonus modifier.. just the same in TQIT.. i hope i can do more tests and find out when exactly does %physical from skills and items kick in, whether before or after pierce conversion

Aha! This is exactly what I was curious about. Back to the lab with you! More testing! I want those results on my desk first thing Monday morning!
