Title: Custom Item not transferring
Post by: MushaShukou on 25 May 2018, 06:42:12
I created a custom map and modified an item and placed it within the map. The item is an amulet, Aphrodite's Favor (http://www.gamebanshee.com/cgi-bin/search/banshee_search.pl?_layout=titanquest_items_Page&_cgifunction=search&titanquest_items.id=775). I modified the dbr file to get rid of the mind control and then added some bleed resistance in its place. I set all values under "Offensive Influence - Convert" to 0 and then set "Defensive Special - Defensive Slow Bleeding" to 27; which is the same number for all other resistances on the item.

I can pick up and equip the item in my custom map, but when I take the character to a different custom map, the item is gone. I tried using TQVault to see if I could save the item, but TQVault simply shows a yellow square with a question mark where the item is equipped. What is going on here and how can I get the item to be permanent between my custom maps?

A new item created in a mod exists only in the mod. You can't transfer it between mods, unless they all share the same record of the item.

So how is the ITEMUS mod able to do it? You can pick up every epic and legendary item in this mod and wear it around into every other custom map.

Itemus uses existing items.
Your post suggests you took an item and either renamed it or moved it from original directory elsewhere, i.e. its path exists only in your mod, meaning the item ceases to exists once you load your char without mod. Also even if you modify an original dbr the changes will exist only in the mod, too.

Basically, your customized item has to exist under the same name with the same access path in all mods you will be playing for you to retrieve it. And that is unlikely to happen.

Nothing stops one from copying it over to all their mods.
Actually you can just create a shared folder that'd exist in all of them and you would need to just copy and build it after you've done editing.

edit. It just occurred to me, you might have meant different custom map isn't being another mod you're making. Then yes, what WNG said, this trick isn't going to work unless you're planning on rebuilding the whole thing.
