Kind of back, need pc advice and game opinions.
« on: 06 February 2024, 22:37:12 »
Hey guys, long time no see,  i hope you are all doing well.

To start off id like to say that i dont have a PC atm, im using a very old laptop with dedicated HD graphics to play the game. It does alright without custom  maps, but really struggles with xmax and massbosses. What build are u using? I know the game doesnt require a strong PC to run, but still, idk if i should just get a laptop or build something from scratch.

Also wanted to ask if you play the steam version of the game or the original tqIT. I have ragnarok, used to play it back in the day and its pretty good, should i consider getting the newer expansions as well? ATM im playing original TQ IT game, i kinda like the imbalanced builds that were nerfed in the steam version.

Hey Pazuzu, good to see you again.   :)

I play the Steam version these days since I couldn't get TQ/IT to run on my machine with AE also installed.  I enjoy all the expansions, though the Eternal Embers one is a bit empty of foes in places.

As for what machine to get I'd say a PC over a laptop simply because not only will you be able to run TQ1, but also should be able to run the upcoming TQ2.  Yes,we're getting Titan Quest 2 at last!  Not sure exactly when it's going to be released yet, but the dev team are doing monthly (more or less  ;)) updates on things to do with the game.  We had a blog on the music for the game in December and in the last few days another blog about world design.  We don't yet have the actual minimum/recommended specs for the game so take the 16/32 gb ram with a pinch of salt.

I think it all depends on how much money you are ready to invest. About me, I don't have enough knowledge to tell you for sure, but after following local fb group IT stock exchange which purpose is to sell second hand pc/laptop/tablets/phones... I saw some recommendations. So atm some minimum processor to go should be Ryzen 5600x (5700x and 5800x are much more expensive in our area and not that much better, some say they consume more electricity). I heard also without X models like 5500, 5600, 5700 and 5800 but these are rare. This means you  have to get a graphics card as well and additional investment, so if you don't have enough money to invest, your first option should be 5600g as cheapest option. G means it comes with integrated graphics and it should be Vega7. Graphics should be able to run almost all games on medium and lower details, after watching some comparison between graphics on youtube, it seems to work ok (I also have on my laptop Vega7 but they should not be the same, or at least I think so, my integrated on laptop which comes with R5 5500u does ok job, but I usually play on my laptop less demanding games and older games like Call of Juarez Gunslinger). So for your pc, if you go with processor like 5600g, it should be in rang with 3600x which is today considered to be little bellow the line of good. If you invest more I think 5800g has better integrated or the best for such price range, you have to search on the internet about that.
So this up apply for cheaper but good cpu, if you have money you can go X3D cpu which is more expensive, I don't follow much since these configurations go over 1000e and are not in my range of interest atm.
About motherboard they recommend AM5 as newer standard, AM4 can also do a job but future upgrades will be limited. I think motherboards with X prefix are better in some point of view compared to B (some known B are b450, b550, b650), but I don't understand to explain how they are better, maybe connectivity, maybe something more advanced...
Also if you decide to go with cpu with integrated graphics, you can later sell it and get better one with separated graphics, here graphics are from cheaper to very expensive, usually nVidia is recommended to go, but I'm not the one to give more info, you need to specify price for your pc so I can look in following days in group to see some recommendations so I can say more about how you should think.
Also it is important to read about power consumption, some parts, especially graphics cards can consume a lot of electricity, so it is much more better option to invest for more expensive one than to go with atm cheaper which will after some period be like you got the most expensive one but without quality..
About ram and ssd, as fast as possible. For ssd Samsung and I think Crucial are said to be with highest quality, 1 or 2tb should do a job.. Ram, you need to explore what is fast, 3200 should be minimum, but go with faster, also I read CL is important, explore for more info.
The most important is power supply, count on that you will have to invest near 100-200e.
About Intel processors, all I know is that they are more expensive compared to Ryzen, so not much to say, someone else may give you more info..

I can add to that group so you can explore and we can discuss, its on my language, but some posts you will be able to understand :)
