Title: [MOD] LootPlus - More Loot, Better Stuff
Post by: Lavendarjosh on 15 April 2019, 10:25:56
Searching for a mod that somewhat recreated the drop rate enhancements from the old Defiler, I surprisingly came up empty and decided to give modding TQ a try myself.
This is a bounce mod made for v2.8a and the changes affect all acts and difficulties.

Update: Version 1.23 is out and includes the changes to the game in v2.8

Features of this Mod:
- Increased amount of loot from all containers depending on quality (the better the chest, the more loot it has)
- Roughly quadrupled the chance for epic/legendary items from containers (increased chance and amount means it's about 10x more likely to get an epic/legendary item from bosses)
- More loot volume also means more relics and green items (but not that much)
- Roughly doubled the chance to get formulas from containers
- All Bosses have completely new repeat loot tables
- Normalized the weird distribution of unique throwing weapons (nor more Ladon's Maw by the dozen from bone piles)
- Increased chance to get weapons from boss chests/orbs
- Rectified the discrimination of spears (chance was lower than for other weapons, Typhon and Hydra couldn't drop spears at all)
- Most quest-relevant containers have improved loot tables
- Hades' Treasury now actually contains treasure
- Monster infrequents drop more often
- Some infrequents that couldn't drop before now drop correctly (except for the Jackalman Sling and Polyphemus' Tenderizer, because they break the monster's animation)
- Infrequents have a higher chance to have both a pre- and suffix
- Bosses that equip weapons have a higher chance to wield uniques
- Jewelry quest rewards (almost) always have pre- and suffix and a high chance for rare ones
- Most item quest rewards have a higher chance to be uniques
- A few monster charms (mainly in early game) have a higher drop chance
- The Gambler (Atlantis) uses custom improved loot tables
- Tartarus chests and boss orb will yield a lot more gold (enough to buy a gambler orb with 1-2 boss runs)

The distribution of loot (with one single exception) or the items themselves haven't been modified, you just don't have to farm as much for the good stuff.

Hello, welcome to the forums :)

It's nice having a mod like that, it was something from the Defiler that I always used and was sorely needed, at least in my view, to improve the loot, just like you stated.

Thank you very much for this mod and I hope you enjoy the community.

Thanks for the welcomes!
I'm pretty much done with the MIs and other stuff, now I just need to make a run through act 4 and 5 for testing.

I'm finally done with testing all the changes I made to the mod, so the new version has been released and the OP updated.
And if you have any (constructive) criticisms, feel free to voice them, I'm always looking for feedback to my work.

I'll try to bring this mod to the Steam Workshop and release a database replacer version later this week, so stay tuned.

I tested it and see what you mean. I thought the problem was the new v2.6, but updating with the new file didn't change a thing.
The only thing I can think of that causes this is the game purposefully preventing to show all floating infos if there are too many monsters generated for whatever reason. I don't know if there are any other mods that manage to make it work, Xmax seems to have the same problem.

Edit:
Seems that hadn't been the reason either, any changes to the gameengine.dbr produce the same results.

I mentioned this on the steam boards, but what is crazy is I downloaded the XMAX Atlantis mod, saw there were more monsters and the floaties worked, copied the gameengine file over and that one works.  I have no idea how, I looked through all the settings.

Now that's weird. I've done so little as to change the enchanterRecoveryFactor and that was enough to break it.

Version 1.22 of this mod is now live, changes include more gold from Tartarus chests and boss orb, as well as better loot from the gambler.

Hello, I am new and in advance I apologize if I am reliving a dead topic, it is the first time I comment.

My compliments and thanks, for having created these Mods, I am really impressed by the skill that some have and also make it available to the people, THANK YOU Lavendarjosh You are great.

Having said that, I have 2 constrective critiques for your Mods,

for the first (Lootplus v1.22 Database Replacer(for v2.7a)) I followed the installation instructions that you left in the text file, and it did not work, when I try to start a game, either in normal or custom game, the game hangs up and closes.

for the second (Lootplus v1.22 non-Workshop Version) I installed it in the "traditional" mode, copying if contained in custommaps, and it worked almost perfect, the increase of monstrus went well, the loot increase went well, the bosses also increased in number, until now everything is perfect, but some monsters have error , they stay suspended without moving and they are immortal, it is not much problem if they are just monsters of the mound, but the thing got bad, so I kept hanging 2 of the gorgon queens, to not be able to kill them I could not advance from that part with the mod active, I thank you for your incredible work, I would not be able to do so much, .. I have zero computer skills, but I leave you these critics so you keep improving, the sky is the limit

@NotogamerGT
Don't worry the topic isn't dead  :D
To address your problems it would be valuable to know which version you're playing on (Steam/GoG) and which game version you are using. The most recent one should be 2.7b.
Regarding monster spawn problems, I added the "quick and dirty" double monsters version by request, but it's not as sophisticated as Xmax. There's an (unofficial) merge of LootPlus and Xmax on the Steam Workshop called "Loot Plus XMAX FTW", maybe that one would work better. If you don't have the game on Steam, you can try contacting the creator if he's willing to release it as a non-Steam version.

@Lavendarjosh Thanks you for create this awesome mod!
Can you make other lootplus custom map combine with 6players mod or Massbosses mod? Because there is some items only drop from Heroes monsters, and xmax doesn't increase chance to spawn Heroes much.

I usually don't do merges with other people's mods, but raising hero frequency should be really easy to do yourself. I've written a guide to mod merging some time ago that explains how to set this up here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1746931699
I think that all you'd have to do to add more heroes to this mod is import the gameengine.dbr (records/xpack/game) and under "Proxy Info" edit the ChampionMin and Championmax Modifiers, to 500.000000 for example.

For the author of the mod -  Lavendarjosh:

Could you, please, merge your Loot Plus mod (the NON-workshop version) with the XmaX mod? Particularly, I am referring to x10 (xmax) one.

Your loot mod is awesome, but I miss the dozens of enemies, added by XmaX mod, especially the x10 regular mobs and x3 bosses, in the zip pack, it is the xmax folder.

I feel xmax (x10) and your loot mod would be great NEW balance to the game.

I am not that skilled in re-compiling the game files to create it by myself. (Although I feel competent enough to correct the czech localization of the game ... :-) )

@Sir_Mac
I don't do merges with other people's mods myself without asking for permission, and I have no idea who even to contact for XmaX.
Maybe I'm a bit old-fashioned in that regard, but I've seen enough drama in modding communities over the time. There are several mods on Steam merging LootPlus with Xmax, I'd suggest contacting one of the authors and ask them to release a non-workshop version.
Title: Re: [MOD] LootPlus - More Loot, Better Stuff
Post by: Sir_Mac on 24 July 2019, 08:50:09
@Lavendarjosh

I have seen those "combined mods", but they are always "contamined" by something else, something third or fourth, than xmax and lootplus. That is why I asked you, as the author.

Imagine into my situation: The game itself is very greedy to provide epic, legendary and set items. There is no guarantee to get epic or legendary items, even on XmaX (x10), it is regular situation, that I kill trio of the telkines and I get NO epic item from their orbs. The probability is not by my side. Your mod changes the situation, and if combined with XmaX (x10), I can make one run (3 x 3 Telkines, 3x Hades, 3x Typhons and 3x Charon) and my grail would be much more complete.
I don't want to activate any mod, which would give me all the epics and legendary items by picking them up from custom map from the boxes...
But I accept your stand, I will do it differently. I will always properly end with my characters the game on the difficulty (normal / epic, maybe legendary), and then, I will go the bosses for the loot. It will take 3 times more time, but I will have to live with that.

Thank you once again,
Sir_Mac

Another thing you could do is use the database replacer of LootPlus and load Xmax as a bounce mod, so you can use both that way.

We finally got a detailed changelog again in 2.8 and it looks like I'll have to make some adjustments to the mod files to incorporate some changes made, so it'll take a while. And right now, it's just too friggin' hot here (39°C) to do any serious modding work at all. Lastly, from what I've read in the comments I expect a hotfix to be released in the next few days, so I probably won't make a database replacer before that's out.

But I'll work on it as soon as possible/reasonable.

I had to register just to thank you for awesome work! :)
I was playing Grim Dawn, it reminded me of Titan Quest and I noticed that it has a new expansion, then I remembered what a pain it's to farm stuff on that game especially for a casual player like me. Your mod changes everything, not too much loot, but no crazy time consuming grinding either, perfect balance at least so far. It really encourages you to just start a char untwinked and not to go for those meta builds but to try something unorthodox.

I also like the 2x thing, it's enough to bring challenge, 10x and 3x bosses is just too much unless you play before mentioned metas or twink/cheat your ass off.

Lavendarjosh, your mods More Loot, Better Stuff and Skill Reworks, are great additions to the Titan Quest world. It brings a joy when you open a new chest, or kill an enemy.

Best of luck to you.

Thank you very much for this mod. I just installed it and played through Atlantis the second time and it was a completely different feeling. It felt like someone finally fixed the game. :D
I love it that heroes can now drop stuff and boss chests/orbs finally contain something better than just yellow garbage.

Now if THQ managed to fix the restless dropped items bug we could finally see all items that drop...

Since you've gone through and made this mod (which I appreciate, but is a little much for me) - Do you know of a simple way to just remove Broken Items from drop lists, or is it something where I'd have to do it for every loot pile? I'd like to make monsters harder and I used to do this with the Defiler, but that doesn't work now, of course. And removing Broken items from the drop lists seems to marginally increase all the other loot, since they're weighted so heavily?

I just noticed this recently as I went through the files for something different, but removing broken items is actually incredibly easy.
In xpack/game/gameengine.dbr under "Randomizer Weights", you can just set all broken entries to 0 and be done with it.

I haven't tested that myself yet, but I'm fairly sure that's all it takes.

EDIT:
Alright, I tested it, and it works to some degree, but a few broken items still remain.
If you want to make enemies more challenging, I'd recommend lowering the noPrefixNoSuffixModifierCommon (I cut it from 800 to 80 and the difference was...painful) to raise the amount of magic items they're carrying.

And I'm not sure id it's useful to modify the base game's gameengine.dbr as well, I was under the impression it's overwritten by the xpack one, but I'm not entirely sure.

Oh man, adjusting up Common, Single Prefix, and Dual Prefix and 0'ing out broken seems to be working perfectly to purge 95% of broken items from the game.

Is there any risk in setting these up high of making the monsters never drop MIs or blues/purples, or is that something that's handled in a sense by the monster drops on an individual level (replacing whatever else they'd carry)?

I really, really appreciate your rapid response and help on this - it's pretty much exactly what the wife and I were looking for. More aggressively equipped mobs are tougher.

MIs and uniques are handled per monster, so they're decided on before your adjustments come into play. But should get a nice increase of green items.
Anyway, great to hear that worked out for you.

I wanted to continue the noob theme - new to TQAE here.  The above answered most of my question in that I can use the database replacer for my GOG version.  The additional question I have is that my GOG version is 2.9 MP Hotfix and your version references 2.8a.  Can I still use this database replacer for my game version?  Last question - is it easy to remove if I feel it makes the game too unbalanced (i.e., no impact to the actual saves themselves right)?  Thanks!

The database replacer should not mess up the game, but it will of course revert any changes the update made to the vanilla database.
Going back to the vanilla database is no problem at all, as the mod does not affect anything that is saved with the character, only the current session.

I m a an old player of TT but a little noob in informatics...
My question is what the difference is between the database replacer and the non workshop one? are they complementary or 2 different versions? (really sorry if it's a stupid question ^^) and what are their effects separetly?
I had install correctly the first one, easy to replace database ^^ but i don't know where to copy the files of the non worshop zip
Can you tell me?
Thanks again!

@pietvandamoos
The effects of both versions are the same, but the non-workshop version has to be activated every time before starting a game with your character, while the database replacer is active right from the start. So if you use the replacer, you don't have to use the non-workshop version on top of that. But the files would go here: [USER]\Documents\my games\Titan Quest - Immortal Throne\CustomMaps. Just copy the whole folder there.

i got 2 questions

1) How can i edit this file? i tried notepad++, but it seems not right. I wantet to compare to the original one.

2) Can it be possible, that hades was forgotten? I tried 10 runs and i had 0 blue items. The tressures and so on work fine to me.

Thx for the mod and the help

1) You will need to extract the .arz file first, for example with ArzExtractor.
2) That's odd. I checked it and it should work as intended, the files are present and the values modded.

I haven't done any work on my mods in a long time, and I consider them "complete" for the time being. But the next time I get on a TQ craze, maybe I'll find a few things that still bug me and I'll get to work again.  :)
Though right now the Terraria update has me in its death grip, but I can't do any modding for that for now, sadly.
In any case, thanks for the interest and a good weekend to you back.

There is, and it's actually fairly easy. All you'd have to do is set the lootWeight of non-unique entries to 0 in all relevant defaultloot records.
As all the loot table files are, to my knowledge, similar structured, you could probably get away with mass-replacing all those lines with something like notepad++ (although you'd have to use wildcards in search because the weight itself differs from entry to entry).
In detail:
Well, I should mention that while it should work, I have not tried this method myself yet. If you want to do it manually, it would be easier to single out one or a few bosses and only edit those files, shouldn't take long even by hand.

I was wondering is there a way to edit the mod to increase the drop rate of epic and legendary loot while reducing all other drops(green, yellow, gold...)? Basically turn it into a cheat mod for farming epics and legendaries?

There is, and it's actually fairly easy. All you'd have to do is set the lootWeight of non-unique entries to 0 in all relevant defaultloot records.
As all the loot table files are, to my knowledge, similar structured, you could probably get away with mass-replacing all those lines with something like notepad++ (although you'd have to use wildcards in search because the weight itself differs from entry to entry).
In detail:
  • Open all loot table .dbr you want to edit in notepad++ or similar program (they're in *\item\containers\defaultloot)
  • Look for loot entries not containing uniques (for example loot1Name1)
  • Ctrl+H, search for "loot1Weight1,.*" and replace with "loot1Weight1,0,", replace in all opened documents
  • repeat for all lootWeights with non-unique entries
Well, I should mention that while it should work, I have not tried this method myself yet. If you want to do it manually, it would be easier to single out one or a few bosses and only edit those files, shouldn't take long even by hand.

I don't see .dbr files anywhere, there are .arz, .arc and .map files

Well, you need to unpack the mod's files first of course. I once wrote a steam guide on merging mods that explains how to do that (and generally how to work on mods):

Seems easy enough to follow, i'll give it a try. Thanks.

New to this forum, played TQ and IT back when they were released but haven't played in about 7 years. Let me add that I am not the most computer savvy when it comes to modding which is why I've come here. I've done a lot of searching the game like I had done with a defiler many years ago, Soulseekkor defiler (I think) was what I used. My main question is, can chests be modified to a better drop rate as they could back then and if so, how exactly do I do it? Most of the search results I've found are confusing. I have downloaded LootPlus-Bounce v1.1 and SSTQDefilerNET and I have been able to change a few stats on my characters but when I open the game, the changes are not there. Obviously, I'm doing something wrong. Can I get just a little help on this and sorry for sounding like a n00b.

Well, wanting the drop rates similar to the TQ Defiler back is exactly why I started with the mod in the first place.
But a question first: do you use LootPlus as intended (loading custom game with the mod, being bounced back and starting regular, modded game), and does it work for you?
Apart from that, the original Defiler is old and probably won't work with the AE of TQ. There's a Grim Dawn Defiler that also partly worked with AE, but it hasn't been updated since 2018.

From what I can tell, no, it isn't working. When I load the game and select "Play Custom Quest", I get a box with 'lootplus - main.map' showing. When I click start, I get a box that pops up saying, "The Custom Quest you loaded includes an invalid map (likely a "Bounce Mod"). The changes will instead affect your next game with a Main Quest character." and that's all I get. I can then play the game but there is no diference with the characters or any stats. I pretty much figured that the old Defiler wouldn't work but I have it installed (version 1.3.9) and it will load up after several boxes telling me that it cannot find a path for TQ or for IT. Not sure if any of this helps but thanks for replying.

Also, when I click the link in your original post, it asks me to join Pastebin, which I have not done.

The mod does not affect your character at all, only the loot you will find from containers and monster in the game. If it works as intended, it should become obvious when farming a boss.

You shouldn't need to make an account to see the links, at least. If you're using the Steam version of the game, the mod is also in the workshop.

This is something that envolves any mod. Since 2.10 isnt live yet, and who knows if they will get any update in any time soon, its best to not play mods in 2.10 version.
