Title: Gorgons Help
Post by: oldage on 13 October 2018, 05:30:59
Need a little advice on the gorgon girls.
I'm at level 15 with a Pyro. Was moving right along till  I hit the gorgons. Up till now thing were going smoothly, one or two shots about ever thing. Bosses were no real problem. What I need to know is do they have life leach or blocking ability. While fighting, my health started going down, but health pots seem to have no affect raising it up'. Only have combine 72 armor. Have 19% in  elemental and 28% in poison resistance, damage is 153/sec. nothing in bleed, physical
Is there anything that can weaken them. I know I need to kill Euryale first, to prevent her healing the others. OA 157, DA 136 Cast speed 100% Movement 133% health 1,265 Intell 186.
There is some little thing I missing.
Perhaps the trouble is just me and not finding any super duper goodies Never had this much trouble before.

i made a mistake on my pyro before.. i tried to rush eruption.. by the time i got to the Gorgon queens, my eruption was only lvl 1 so it couldn't do enough damage.. so on my 2nd run, i did not not climb earth mastery bar early.. i put the points on fragmentation instead.. this time VO was OP for the gorgon queens.. euryale heals but i still find medusa petrify to be the dangerous part.. a shield with medusa relic helps.. easier trick would be to stay at the door, max your camera angle (3), hold shift and fire VO

If you have some items which grand skill activated on attack deal dmg( fire/burn/elemental dmg is best) => using it when casting skills.
Lure 3 Gorgon sisters some to one places when cast skill to deal dmg to all 3 of them, this will make Euryale's healing spell running out energy soon.

farm nessus till u can kill him without being touched by him or his adds, The drops may not be good for ur class but chests will give ~1 blue per 2 runs, AND ofc relics too.

u can also farm in Fetid Lair, tegea nymph quest cave. The quest purple mobs have 5-10x chance of dropping greens (melee weapons but caster armors may be gotten).

You didn't mentionned it, so I assume you didn't used a scroll. It could definetly be helpful for you.

also try lure each and kill one by one, if you are using a staff our bow makes batle easier.

and as WNG said , harpy witches scrool is must.

Thank you all for your suggestions. Using a staff but no scrolls, will get. Usually forget about them. Will get  harpy and try again. Will get to level 16 and boost VO first only have it at 7
VO 7, Confrag 1, Frag 2,EE 5 and Brim1. Would be best to put the 3 points in VO, Frag or EE/

frag over VO.. doesn't matter if it's more physical than fire.. the fragments are more important.. and EE isn't really that good early game I'll leave it at lvl 1.. early game flat damage over %

Thanks botebote77.
Will take a couple out of EE and put in Frag. Will boost Frag to 6, only 1 now.

this is a quote from my mage summoner thread

Quote
Early game leveling:
Start Earth. Earth is very good early game whether you choose volcanic orb, flame surge, or even ring of flame. Since volcanic orb will be my main attack all throughout the game, i started with volcanic orb. it's very good early game even with its 5 sec cooldown. Early game, set this as your RMB so your attacks will be VO, eruption, and staff attack. But later on when you already have high CDR and using a shield, you might want to bind VO to LMB. Volcanic orb + Eruption will allow you to farm bosses repeatedly with not much difficulty even if you play xmax. 1st level up put 2 pts on earth mastery and 1 pt on earth enchantment. Continue climbing earth putting only 1pt on volcanic orb, brimstone, core dweller, and stone form just in case. When you reach lvl 7, just keep your 3 skill points. Why? So when you reach lvl 8, you'll have 6 skill points to spend on nature. You're not in delphi yet at this point. Put 4pts on nature mastery, 1pt on HoO, and 1pt on regrowth so you have something to support core dweller. But after that, we will ignore nature for a very long time. And 1 more thing, don't set your core dweller to aggressive. Not yet because we will leave it at lvl 1. It will just die quickly if it's set to aggressive. Continue climbing earth putting only 1pt on conflagration and also 1pt each on the synergies of core dweller. When you reach fragmentation, max it.

i know you don't have nature but you get the idea.. 9 gorgon queens went down fast this way.. actually everything in normal went down fast :)

Thanks again. Camera (3) stood by door and blasted away. Got 3 blue. Nothing for me. Will need to get a second mastery to build up strength for all the goodies.
Got the witches and for got to use. Next time.

@botebote77 : Can u plz recommend a early build for mage caster build which is viable as potion-free runs, even on act bosses? (need very high survivability with some AoE)

The one of earth with nature mentioned above should be it with Heart of Oak. I thinking of try it along with my Pyro as a separate character

oldage, yes.. when i said HoO i meant heart of oak

andyblast, if you have the oracle set pieces then many mages are not so potion hungry.. golden fleece also reduces energy cost

if you consider trance of wrath auramancer as caster mage, that's not mana hungry.. but it's boring and doesn't feel like a mage because a mage has no business getting in melee range

early game i can think of is prophet.. early game everything dies from distort so it's not mana hungry because you don't have to spam it.. then later support it with lighting bolt.. both distort and lightning bolt get boosted by static charge.. then ToC.. start with dream.. get ToC then max dream.. max the upgrade of distort.. then get storm to get lightning bolt and static charge.. distort itself stays at lvl 1 until later.. late game though when you have to chain cast distort and lightning bolt, you have to drink mana or you equip energy cost reduction.. I'd much rather drink mana

this is how it looks like:
https://titanquestfans.net/index.php?topic=213.msg4018#msg4018

sooner or later all mages become either potion dependent or gear dependent.. or both

tranquility of water reduces mana cost but if you invest on nature and tranquility that early, you won't have enough points to spend on your spells

edit: maxed squall is very good early game and not mana hungry.. but the damage is only good for the 1st 2 acts of normal.. it gets very good late game but not for the damage

Nice bunch of good information. Years ago playing IM, played most of the Masteries, but mostly stuck to archer, earth and storm. Following Norma2s advice.
Never really played games until my 70s. I got my engineering degree in 1958. Eons ago.
Botebote77, I want to thank you for your help. Never thought of standing at the door and lobbing in at the Gorgons. Did it for others.
