« on: 27 December 2017, 09:32:27 »
so now that efko and medea taught me how to post images (lol), i can finally share some of my loots.. i dont actually farm anymore but i play a lot of characters so i still got a few

this one i like for my mage haruspex:

yummy.. i gave this to my nephew

this one might be good except for the low armor.. the raven summon proc is only chance based and it's also weak:

for the MIs i used TQvault to see the affixes

the reckless offense is a lie.. or a bug.. it doesnt work

this one is easy to find but it's so weird it's worth posting here

what made this even weirder is the unknown abilities, i tested it and the ring seems to heal me but after some hits, it seems the monsters attack gets amplified.. but i'm not sure as i've only tested it once.. too dangerous

lol i was never really registered in the old forums because we didn't have internet connection that time but I've scourged the site thousands of times since the days of poinas, apocalypse80, those dudes doing tests and posting useful infos.. so I'm familiar with some of the names but they're not familiar with me

those builds i posted i was just kidding.. but heh having a little fun won't hurt

i actually think throwing knife has been buffed in AE despite the 10% chance.. 1st because poison and bleed now scales with dex (so SB cuffs is really a good option now), 2nd because elemental damage %bonuses now also boost elemental DoTs (as in the case of magician for example).. and 3rd because the duration now scales with skill level.. that means you won't be hard pressed to wear mostly recharge gears so you won't have to sacrifice important attributes like resists and life/mana steal.. now TQAE actually opened up new knifethrower builds aside from magician and sorcerer, like what i mentioned here the last part of my guide:

http://titanquestfans.net/index.php?topic=20.0

if i find changes in mechanics, i might post my tests.. but it might take a while before i do more

now at lvl 43, i figure the best way to lvl up is to go melee.. the route i took, energy armor  ;D

https://imgur.com/a/JpTaB

energy armor at lvl 10 has 1538 energy cost.. i only have 1054 energy but i can cast it.. my key items are golden fleece and pelaron for reduced energy cost.. im planning to get it to lvl 12.. i'll max sanctuary if i have to

not getting runic mines and menhirs still eat at me.. i wanted that permanent guardian stones.. but for now i think this is unusual enough and proves rune is also good for petmasters.. i'm tanky, my pets are tanky, everybody happy

offtopic: you guys use plouton's cornucopia? i decided to wear it for the +1 all skills and recharge but i never thought it would solve the mana issues of my mage haruspex.. its not just the mana spell absorption because i rarely get hit.. i don't even drink health pots.. now i also dont drink mana pots

stupid question: how do i make it so that the image shows?

1490
so i actually tested this.. my tests aren't complete yet but early results show that pierce conversion happens after str bonus modifier.. just the same in TQIT.. i hope i can do more tests and find out when exactly does %physical from skills and items kick in, whether before or after pierce conversion

hello mountainblade welcome to the new forum.. i see you're playing corsair.. rogue is actually my favorite mastery but oddly enough, defense is my least favorite :/  .. but there's no denying the survivability defense gives.. the safe traditional way is to get calculated strike for LMB and 1/max/1max envenom line.. from defense, all the tanky skills and shield attack skills.. you can still get lethal strike but if you value ease of use, maybe just shield charge as RMB. i actually would not advice spear but rather, just fast attacking weapons.. the reason being, faster attacks mean more shield attack procs.. but if you can still get max attack speed or close to that with a spear, then why not? spear benefits greatly from blade honing and you deal more damage with lethal strike if using a spear rather than a sword. one option is to use throwing knives or bow on secondary to hit with lethal strike however blade honing doesn't work with bows so you have to cast it again when switching back to main weapon.. throwing knives work with blade honing and lethal strike but deals less damage..i like having my dex to at least 400+ endgame, str much higher.. i don't know the new mechanics now on pierce damage or if it changed at all however, i can guarantee its still a safe route

But unfortunately for you, you posted on Christmas season.. and special occasions deserve special builds.. so you have no choice but to take less popular but fun builds:

1) set traps, throw poison gas bomb, then go charging in with shield charge

2) max throwing knives, flurry of knives, the whole envenom line, and anatomy.. yep, be a caster then when they get confused, go charging in with shield charge

3) just throwing knives with no shield charge, stats still str/dex but you have to have flat physical damage from items to boost throwing knives.. tops might be 2 mark of ares and a pendant of immortal rage

4) throwing knives with just enough str to wear Moon Disc.. the rest dex and int.. get flat elemental damage from items like Archimedes cogwheel and/or occult ring with Eitr.. i don't have a link but Eitr is a monster charm from act 5 that gives flat elemental damage.. Moon Disc will boost that.. max armor handling for more item choices

you can choose 1 or make your own ridiculous build.. lol probably not the welcome you're expecting :)

i started str/dex with the intent of getting int later because i see going hybrid as a fail safe option.. i didn't want to waste +90% physical from strength of the pack.. i haven't even gone far yet and i already see several skinchanger tricks i missed.. it's really different when you're actually playing it..

1) HoO is the perfect skill to offset 40% health from sacred rage.. one could deliberately get one's HP to 40% and it still won't be very low because of HoO

2) sapros the corrupter fits a hybrid melee skinchanger.. HoO to counter the -25% HP penalty from sapros.. reduced resist and reduced armor from sapros to deal better phys and elem damage

3) an int based skinchanger can deal massive elemental AoE damage.. plague, seal of fate, refresh, seal of fate and plague, thunder strike, refresh, thunder strike.. this is better with dual throwing weapons.. not to mention it gets even stronger with charged up rune weapon

4) a petmaster skinchanger focusing on energy might be viable.. i just noticed energy armor stays on pets even after they get far from you, provided they are near you when you cast it.. so theoretically, one could cast max energy armor, hide in briar ward, then let the pets do the killings.. energy armor at lvl 12 has 6900 flat damage absorption but also have over 3k energy cost.. nature have tranquility of water and briar ward sanctuary to reduce energy cost

edit: no need for energy.. some energy reduction gear and high level sanctuary solves the energy cost

i haven't thought any of those when i created my toon

1) i don't think it suits me because of my habit of drinking health pots at 50%HP for melees and 75%HP for glass cannons

2) i can still try sapros, i have 2 in my vault

3) and 4) i completely missed that

Skinchanger Petmaster

Update: finally able to turn this to a guide.. it turned out well and something different

https://titanquestfans.net/index.php?topic=477.0

Like Medea's Trickster thread, this is also more like a journal than a guide because i don't know how good this will be in the long run. But the journey's no fun if you know where you're going so I'll go with this anyway. I'm planning on playing petmaster skinchanger. My love for unconventional builds has led me to this. I admit i was originally planning for a more unconventional build in dual wield melee soothsayer. But when i tested the MI sword einherjar's fate, the granted skill reckless offense just doesn't work. It wouldn't allow me to equip two weapons. This bug has killed another 1 of my planned builds: the dual wield iceshard sage or dual wield ice shard druid. i was planning on equipping einherjar's fate and persephone's caress.

Ok, now back to the skinchanger, there are 3 reasons why I'm planning to play this:

1) Rune seems to offer very little for petmasters

2) My belief that any combination can work

3) My motto in this game being never trash a skill

I haven't played much rune yet but so far my least favorite skills are runic mines and menhirs. So, what better way to play than a skinchanger focusing on pets, runic mines, and menhirs :)  . This will be an accomplished hero because i want to progress to later difficulties asap. I'm not trying to prove anyone wrong. Rather, I'm trying to find good use for those skills.

If you can think of synergies or weaknesses i might have missed, feel free to comment below.

Now, if i can just think of a good name for my skinchanger..

this one:

https://www.reddit.com/r/TitanQuestAE/comments/72ydyj/summoning_build/

and

https://www.kirmiziperfect.com/physical-damage-ternion/

long story short: it's good when paired with long cooldown stationary skills like battle standard and briar ward

edit: i imagine also guardian stones from rune

edit 2: hmm that seems cool, a ternion with runeword explode able to cast guardian stones a bit more often

nah I'm sure 2000 DA was unkillable enough.. i was actually trying to lower my DA back then.. 1900 was unkillable enough.. 1500DA back then feels like 80% chance to dodge.. right now it feels like 50%

of course it depends on the monsters.. it's just my general feel

edit: I'm actually amazed there was a haruspex in TQIT that could lower it's DA to 1000.. i was trying to lower my DA but it was hard to get it as low as 1000 without sacrificing premonition and wood lore.. it must have been low level or one who doesn't put any points in dex

edit 2: there really were no unkillable characters even from TQIT.. even a haruspex could still die from dactyl, barmanu or from the death ball of Hades.. so for those circumstances some careful playing were still required

my DW assassin has 1500+ DA with mantle of secretos, kael's visage, and argonauts set.. my bow haruspex in TQIT has 2000+ DA but as i remember even with 1500, i can still drink coffee in front of mobs.. i can't do that with my assassin

another confirmed myth geek here

as for why not iapetos.. maybe because the storyline of TQ is after the events of titanomachy.. chimera, maybe because chimera is more popular than mushussu.. but then again, why use the names donar and wodan instead of thor and odin?

btw, whenever i read skyknight, i keep thinking skynet from terminator.. are you sure you're not an artificial intelligence net bot from the future intending to assassinate someone?

shield recovery is capped at 90%

http://titanquest.wikia.com/wiki/Shields

shield block chance, not sure

edit: gasconron still hates the immortal haruspex from TQIT lol me too

edit 2: i really feel DA has been nerfed ever since AE.. i feel 1500 DA isn't as effective in AE as it was in IT.. even 1000 DA.. but it's just personal observations from playing the game.. just speculations

Guides AE / Re: Illusionist Build

because in AE, undeads don't have poison resistance but they have poison absorption.. meaning you can't lower them with RR or susceptibility.. at least that's my understanding

based on my personal observations, undeads are weak against fire and physical.. pierce even with RR is still weak

better get other skills then

edit: from the AE changelog under enemies:

- Undead now absorb 70% Poison damage (on all difficulties) rather than having a resistance

shield charge and shield attack procs are good mob kills.. and given that hunting has study prey, i think it'll work out just fine

with trailblazing and high CDR, it can look like a mad zealot.. might be cool
