In my opinion, yes AE is updated in time to time by  Nordic, they fixed lot of bugs, added more heroes and bosses , its new game ! oh and theres a item filter ( no more trash stuff on the ground ).

And theres mods out here that boost the gameplay, giiving fresh looking :)

Hey Typhon, nice to see you here on the (new) forums  8)

I agree with sauruz, it's definitely worth getting A.E and Nordic have done an exceptional job at breathing new life into the game. Some things that stand out for me are the item rebalances, with revised and improved stats on almost all uniques including the addition of new 'granted skills' on some; the new/tweaked effects on some skills such as Spellbreaker and Ring of Flame; Screen shake!; and various quality of life things- in particular auto pickup key bind which gathers gold, potions and charms/relics in a small radius  :D

..as a side note, some speculate whether Nordic are planning something in the future for TQ. In any case, thus far they seem to be taking care of it well enough.

Can you also bring older characters onto the new version?

yes.. and i think it's worth it to go AE.. you will not lose your items.. it's much more balanced now and a little harder than TQIT.. can i also use this thread to promote my 3 builds i posted in this same forum? if you look at it, all are for AE and would not be as effective in TQIT
i are TQ titans
i are many people

It's a different experience. It makes past reiterations of modded games much harder. This is possibly the most balanced version of the game I've seen.

1. You will likely miss the OP-ness of certain masteries
2. Abused MIs have been scaled to more reasonable levels
3. The introduction of secondary resist penalties now make it so that you think about your equipment instead of going for the same warrior/ranged/caster gear all the time.

It still does need more adjustments on equipment balancing to bring in more options into the fray, but it's a good W.I.P.

If anything else... get Steam version for achievements.
xmax hardcore is the only way to play this game.

Achievements shouldn't be a selling point for games :P but I've decided to go ahead and purchase it on the next sale. The information here, and what more can be added, will most likely help others decide as well. Thanks guys!

Example of achievements? We can have complex awards system on this forum.

Example of achievements? We can have complex awards system on this forum.

The specific one that convinced my friend was called Greece Lightning. We had to complete the game in all three difficulties in under 30 (I think) in-game hours. The 'Beat Legendary as a [Mastery] character' achievements provide a nice way to track which ones I've played a lot if there's a long time since the last characters, etc. Though that might be remembered anyway. There are a few more that I think are fun, but I don't think I'd go through the trouble of collecting the achievements if they were on the forum.
