I have to admit. I was terrified of this guy. My mouth went dry when i got out of the cave and i felt butterflies in my stomach. Untillll....call of the hunt+study prey and a 3arrow shot. The guy was down before i even saw him.

Nice progress, @stormyboy.

Also saw your error on Defiler. I have also experience a similar error on some of my characters, specifically those that have stepped foot in Atlantis. I don't exactly know what triggers this error, but it seems like when it does you can no longer load the "infected" character on Defiler.
xmax hardcore is the only way to play this game.

The devs said that with Atlantis, the data in the character file has changed (I suppose the data is organized in a different way, and maybe the file contains some additional info).
When you take a pre-Atlantis char into the game with Atlantis enabled, the character save updates automatically. After that the save is permanently changed, and TQ Defiler is no longer able to read it.
And in general, there is no backward compatibility, once you loaded a char into Atlantis, I don't think you can load the save into a game without Atlantis.

Hi guys,

Its been a while. And i can see our toons are still there on the boards  ;D

But unfortunately they have been lost  :(

A few days ago I bought Atlantis and I will have it all up and running on thursday i guess, xmax of course.

And we are thinking of going xmax  zero death challenge again as long as we can. wish more ppl participated in the challenges like it used to be back in the day.

But Im not sure if its gonna be twinked. I tried it twinked 2 years ago  a little with just rangarok but didnt make it to the expansion. not even past normal.

Twinked sucked the fun out of this game a little as it was just about grinding levels. got boring. only waiting to hit the clvl required to equip the item i already had.

No thrill waithing for the next gg drop. all there in tq vault. now i saw someplace u can buy purple orbs, and there is this loot plus mod. Im thinking - maybe i will start from scratch this time, ssf, collectig all staff anew. the thrill would be back.

I took an extended break from the challenge the Ragnarok expansion puts on the challengers. When I was running my end-game built toons through Ragnarok, I didnt feel the difficulty spike much. But when you are starting from scratch as a character even twinked Ragnarok Normal and Epic is a different matter. I am actually finding early game a lot harder than end-game now, when you are not on end-game build. You really have to farm the expansions for their new power creep items. They are so overtuned, its almost a sin not to have them for this challenge.
xmax hardcore is the only way to play this game.

one of the things that turned me off and made me have a break of my own.. they made the game harder but in turn added OP items.. game heavily relies on items now

Hi guys,

we are back :D with a vengance  >:D

We are on the old Laptop and still probems with screenshots but as back in the day im taking pictures with my mobile and will post them later during the day - xmax shopping soon.

Atm, Zuzia is just fooling around now, mostly running around towns or back at beginning of Act I - for fear of dying.

I have a feeling Atlantis is a little more difficult then than TQIT so we started more heavily on defence mastery. this is what we look like now:

We have 3 unspent points but on the fence as to where put them now. maybe climb up warfare tree and start pumping Ardor. Still using autoattack.

I believe Onslaught has been nerfed.

We are not twinking heavily  O:-) : only artefact, +1 defence amulet, mace and...tons of red pots .
We got lucky - SBC dropped without even thinkign of it  ^-^

all the bosses x3 were relatively easy...with 1 notable exeption - Alastor. He almost made me give up on the challange. it took me about 20 - 25 minutes to beat them damn it.

I used a few tricks from back in the day: just some common scrolls, weapon with lots of fire dmg and fire relic, keeping a few skellies alive etc.

we will be going as long as we can, but i think death is imminent.

Im going to use this Conquerer to farm some gear for my other toons..

Barmanu went down surprisingly quickly...maybe because we learned the moves back in the day.

So far, the most demanding and dangerous fight was Alastor.

We twinked big time this time and added this shield:
Sentinels's Thurneos of Trickery
49% chance to block 205 dmg
15% attack speed
9% chcance to dodge attack
+2 to Defence

I threw in a Spiny Shell. I added it mostly due to a fact my daughter wants to play a little more offensively  :P

Yeap, all together now.

a friend came around the other day and did some tinkering with my laptop and now it seems screenshots work!

secondly, mid act 3 normal we noticed too big of a spike in monster dmg output...wasn't like this in tqit iirc...now we have to tread with caution.

this conq will be a gear-farmer for our dw throw toon...most probably dragonhunter...for the awesome skills: herbal remedy and rune of life - res seem to be more important now. or maybe a Thunderer depending on drops....Mjolnir  O0

Hi, a couple questions before trying this.

1) This would be my first time attempting a hardcore toon. Is gear that I already have saved in TQVault ok to use or are you requiring a fresh start? (I can always use a separate clean vault tab if that's the case)

2) Which version of xmax is considered acceptable for this challenge? I noticed that the Steam workshop has a mod that merges LootPlus along with Xmax, for example.
