Title: MODDING TOOLS A-Z
Post by: nargil66 on 10 March 2018, 12:22:16
After a big cleanup of files, I made a database of all the TQ related tools that I have untill now. Some are saved from the old forum or salvaged from the net, others are not directly connected to Titan Quest, but can come handy to someone.
Note: All the tools listed here are freeware. I won't add any payed programs in the list. If you are searching for one, buy it or download it by other means.

If you know a tool that is better, newer or you think it should be included in the database, I'll update the list. Or if you can tell the name of a creator or description that is missing.

Latest database update: 16.04.2019

MODDING TOOLS A-Z:

ARC Encryptor 4.1.2 (32 & 64 bit)
Creator(s): Elfe
Description: Arc Encryptor is a GUI for the game's archivetool that lets you pack and unpack .ARC files.
Download Link(s): https://mega.nz/#!EaolDIQL!Zv6EEFH1jSHFDsOtJ-VsPcWfAbfH7lNngG5p5D9CaDA

ARC Explorer
Creator(s): ?
Description: A tool for viewing and unpacking .ARC files.
Download Link(s): https://mega.nz/#!se5lmQTY!TzhzQGr62APvpFyLID_neCTZSX34G0OC5F45O1UtrcY

ARC Unpack 1.0
Creator(s): Tamchi
Description: A tool for extracting multiple .ARC files at once. Just drag and drop the ARCs over ArcUnpack.exe
Download Link(s): https://mega.nz/#!wTwjUARL!7LKJUOgW3p3vb3mubp34ChV3uKVOQefyzyCTN1pOeew

Art Manager 1.6
Creator(s): Elfe
Description: An improved ArtManager with more features.
Note: To install, place ArtManager 1.6 in your TQIT base folder. It was made for vanilla Immortal Throne v1.1 only, but relinking the Tools directory and switching the TQIT's database.arz with TQAE/Ragnarok one can do the trick.
It can now always with the option "Delete Unassociated Resources" be formed without having to restart the AM every time again. (Tools -> delete unassociated resources).
No other program is needed to run this version of the AM, not even version 1.5. I emphasize once again that version 1.5 and 1.6 are not consecutive versions, but work independently.
Added tool "File Summary". (Tools -> File Summary)
Added "Status Report" tool. (Tools -> Status Report)
Option to compress the models added. (Tools -> Convert Textures to Compressed)
Integrated option window integrated. (Tools -> Options)
New icons, New Font for Popup Window (I can understand it well, if you want the old one back, because the new one does make some things harder to read, if desired I will upload a version without changed font, if necessary).
Templates Editor extended. (It seems a par of the added options are still not working properly, maybe it's better if you do not use this editor for that yet.)
Explanations of DBR entries on / off. This option can be switched on / off in the DB Editor in the menu bar under "View -> Descriptions". (For more information and extended explanations, there is a post here: http://titanquest.4fansites.de/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10994 )
MAX server repaired! The installation includes a file that fixes this problem and fixes the option to convert .max files to .msh / .amn files. To enable this fix, a little extra manual work is required, the instructions for which are available at the installation later in this post.
.Msh files can be archived (taken from 1.5, auto and self-created assets possible.)
.wav files can be archived again (note for violos: wish fulfilled Smile)
Other features that I may have forgotten.
Download and run the installer. Please select the installation path of your TQIT's for the installation, if you choose another directory, the AM will only give an error message at startup. The main features are already installed, so the following things need to be done to fully install the MAX Server:
Open the following path with your Windows Explorer: User\Documents\my games\titan quest immortal throne\tools.ini and open the Tool.ini file.
You will see several options for the toolset. Those who are interested in us are called "3dsmaxserver". The installation has a new file called MAX_Server.exe installed in the installation path of TQIT. Please write this hinder the option. For me it looks like this:
3dsmaxserver = D: \ Program Files (x86) \ THQ \ Titan Quest Immortal Throne \ MAX_Server.exe
Save the file and run the Art Manager 1.6.exe.
Congratulations, the installation is done. I hope that makes modding easier / faster and probably. It is easier for some newcomers to find their way.
All rights to the code of this program are still going to THQ / ILE. Please let me know if I have breached EULA rules or contractual arrangements. In that case I will delete everything immediately.

ARZ Explorer
Creator(s): Vorbis, EJFudd
Description: A tool for viewing and unpacking .ARC and .ARZ (Database) files.

Grim Dawn Archive Tool GUI 1.0
Creator(s): N00BxV1
Description: An interface for Grim Dawn's ArchiveTool that also work for Titan Quest.
Requirements:
- Windows x86/x64
- .NET Framework 4
Directions:
- Go to Tools->Settings and set the filepath to where ArchiveTool.exe is located. The setting will be saved for later use.
- Click File->New to create a new ARC archive, or File->Open to open an existing ARC archive.
- Right-Click on the list for archive options including Add, Extract, Remove, Replace, Update, and Compact.
Features:
- DragDrop ARC archive to the list to open the archive.
- DragDrop folders/files to the list to add to the archive.
- DragDrop from the list to extract from the archive.
- The list includes a search for finding items, click Tools->Find or use the hotkey Ctrl-F.
- To extract database records from ARZ archive, go to Tools->ExtractDatabase and select the destination folder.
Notes:
- This program's settings (the filepath to ArchiveTool.exe, etc) will be saved to 'ArchiveToolGUI.ini'.
- This program's directory is the root of the archive, so Add/Replace/Update requires all folders/files to be located in this program's directory.
- Using DragDrop to Extract requires the drop location to be an open Explorer window. Dropping on the Desktop does not work.

MeshDrawCS
Creator(s): Methuselah
Description: A tool that allows you to delete triangles from meshes. Allows also stretching, changing default position, unmirror UVs and other features.
This is a tool I'm working on to view / edit meshes and view skin textures.
You can:
import a mesh to view it
    move / rotate the mesh
export the mesh to XAML & Obj files (no mtl support yet)
move the vertices / normals / texture co-ords
sub-divide the triangles to create greater detail (I've used this to give my character horns)
edit the Obj file in an external 3D editor, then re-import over your mesh settings (must keep the same No vertices & triangles though)
import 'work in progress' skins over the model (now supports .psd files)
quickly refresh the skin to easily view changes made in your image editor over a mesh
export the edited mesh back to TQ format
I'm just using this as a fun litle project to learn computer programming, so it's probably coded horribly, and it may crash with some mesh formats such as buildings and 'ambient' creatures.
---
Q:
1. Is it possible with this program, to export a tq mesh (say, a Satyr) edit it in 3D Studio Max and reimport it back in TQ?
2. Is it possible to import a random mesh into TQ (like a Bentley or something) with this program? I don't even exactly know yet what bones are, but I assume they will be causing problems here...
A:
1. Yes, it should work so long as you only move the points round. Don't delete any or create any (there are loads of other unknown values related to each point of the model, as I have no idea what most of them are there is no way to recreate them. I think this should give you quite a bit of flexibility though, making a dwarf would be a simple case of shrinking the mesh, making an elf would be a simple case of moving the ear tips to make them pointy.
2. I don't think this would work. I could get it to work, but it won't be any time soon as i'm mega busy at work. Any .Net developers out there are welcome to fiddle with the code, it should all be viewable in Reflector, or I can supply the source.

TQ Animation Tools (Full)
Creator(s): Tamchi, Koderkrazy
Description: A pack of several tools which allow you to edit the game's .ANM files.
TQ Animation Callback Editor - Allows you to edit the animation callback commands.
TQ Animation Combiner - ?
TQ Animation Composer - This tool allows you to combine animations to make new ones. You need .NET Framework 4.0 to use it. You can load up to two different animations and choose the bones and callbacks you want to keep. You can choose how to shorten/lengthen the animations if the frame counts don't match. it automatically selects bones in the second animation if you uncheck them in the first or they don't exist yet. (Works in both directions.) You can't crop/scale animations yet, but it should be really easy to write a gui for that: Most of the necessary functions are already included in the library. You still have to use notepad if you want to edit the callbacks though. I plan to extend the program to let you rename bones and create new callbacks.
Resizing a single animation would require a different gui approach.
Edit: Finding focused items in WPF on right-click is completely crazy. I will add the editing functions in a different program.
TQ Animation Cropper - ?
TQ Animation Specials - ?
TQ Animation Bone Renamer - A tool that allows you to rename bones in .anm files. To understand why the tool? read this tutorial https://titanquestfans.net/index.php?topic=578.0 To test it I've given a female anm. If you use as it is then hairs won't move. But if you remove '_MOUNT' from bones using the tool then the hairs will start moving again.

TQ Grid Extractor
Creator(s): Tamchi
Description: This tool can quickly extract large amounts of texture grids per drag-and-drop. You can specify the pen width, foreground and background colors and the image size too, if you use the command line. The defaults are 512x512 pixel image size and a 1 pixel black on transparent pen.
This program's way of calculating the coords is different from the one in MeshDrawCS, so the result should be more accurate. You still won't see any improvement in MeshDraw because of it's bugged texture coords.

TQ Record Manager 1.2
Creator(s): HandballFreak
Description: A program for viewing and editing records (.dbr files) for Titan Quest Immortal Throne.
After extensive programming and testing, I now have a usable version that I would like to provide to anyone interested.
Integration of records in Mod.arz is not possible - here the Art Manager is still necessary. Further and more detailed information can be found in the release notes that accompany the download.
installation
1) Extract the TQIT.zip and move the extracted TQIT folder into your "working" directoryThe resulting structure should look like this:... \ My Games \ Titan Quest - Immortal Throne \ Working \ CustomMaps \ TQIT \ database
2) Start the 'Titan Quest Record Manager'.exe
Source code for Visual Studio 2010 is included in a separate folder for download.
Further information
The program was tested with Win 7. Anyone who notice bugs or suggestions for improvement, can contribute. Otherwise use at your own risk.

UnMirrorUV
Creator(s): ?
Description: A tool which can turn symmetric mesh to assymetric one, allowing you to make the left and right part of the texture look different. To do it:
1. Drop a .msh file on un_mirror_uv.exe to make it assymetic. When you open the mesh again, it will look like split in half.
2. Make a skin with double width and mirrored left and right part. You can now make the left part different from right one.
3. Use the modified mesh you made with un_mirror_uv for your custom assymetric texture.

Added more descriptions and creator names.
I'm not sure if some of the tools in the list are not obsolete, like TQElysion. Also is there any advantage of using ArcExplorer over ArzExplorer?
Title: Re: Tools Database - Links & Descriptions
Post by: Bumbleguppy on 12 March 2018, 00:52:47
ARZ is to decompile the database only.

ARC is for the .ARC files like Items.arc etc.

Oh hey, nevermind!

I didn't know this existed, it's a pretty nifty combination tool! ARC explorer and ARZ extractor in one interface. Neat!

TQSource editor is no more supported. You better remove it from the list as it's just going to lead to confusion.

Art Manager 1.6 only works with vanilla TQIT (v 1.1), no versions after that.
Title: Re: Tools Database - Links & Descriptions
Post by: nargil66 on 19 March 2018, 03:25:48
Ok, Source Editor is out of the list. Added a note for ArtManager 1.6.
Can you help with more simplified description for AM? List of features and usage maybe?

Removed from the list: Meshmixer, UVMapper, Source Files, TQElysion, ArcExplorer. You can still find them in the archive if anyone needs.
Added: Mod Merge, Grid Extractor (much better than UVMapper), Arc Unpack (Better than ArcExplorer), MeshViewer. Added some descriptions from old forum.

The tools update is started (see the first post). Now all tools are on display with separate links. For now I added only the modding tools, gaming tools are coming next, as well as tutorials. About 3rd party programs (not directly related to TQ) - ill post them in a new thread.

starting to get annoyed.

when i attempt to extract the database file the destination folder is empty.

the command box pops up after i click ok and goes away again. then i get another popup that says it was succesful but again, nothing in the folder. i tried to use the tool on grim dawn and it seems to extract just fine. not sure why titan quest wont work.

edit: also, when i try to import a record from art manager i get "out of memory".

I took a quick screenshot when trying to extract databse.arz the pic shows it's broken but should still be able to click on it.

I'll reupload ArzExplorer in case its corrupted somehow. Or maybe you are missing some required component, idk.
About GD Archive tool - you changed the pathing in the config file to Titan Quest, right?
Option 3 is to use ARC Explorer (for Arcs) and extract database with TQVault.
If it still doesnt work, I don't know how to help honestly.

What version of the database are you extracting? The last option is to extract it myself and just upload it.

Hi,

I try to learn from scratch how to modify Text.arc files. I'm not a modder at all. I want to fix Text-FR where there's a lot of wrong translations and errors.

I've already found how to unpack, and modify the Text-XX files with arcexplorer.

How can we pack new (modified) Text files in order to have an efficient new Text.arc ? Is Arc_Encryptor the appropriate tool ? Is there somewhere a tutorial to do this ?

Thanks

EDIT : Ok, I found on my own (and an old french forum). I use the ArtManager to build the new Text file and it works.

For those having issues with ARZExplorer, the latest version with TQVaultAE 3.5.2 fixes the database extraction issue introduced in the 3.x versions.

Edit:
Okay nothing is easy.  The 3.5.2 release does not actually contain ARZExplorer.exe, but fortunately the fix is in one of the supporting TQVaultAE dlls.  In the meantime, you can just use the ARZExplorer.exe file from 3.5.1 with the 3.5.2 dll files.

Here is the latest Tool Pack (my personal selection):
https://mega.nz/file/oWAlXILI#OBb3IZIR-sYNwRBKBt96ofzEjJ9xbGXVvm_cTm9FdrU

Contains:
ArchiveTool - a tool to repack ARC files (might be outdated)
ArcUnpack - a tool to unpack one or multiple ARC files on drag and drop.
ArtManager1.6 - outdated version of AM, works good for Immortal Throne
ARZExplorer - a tool to preview or extract ARC or ARZ (Database records) files
Converseen0.9.9.3-1 - A nice batch resizer/converter. Supports multiple formats. I mostly use it to mass convert PNG or DDS to TGA
GrimArc & GrimArz - Extract ARC/ARZ (for Grim Dawn)
MeshViewer - Preview TQ meshes/textures (havent tested it on EE though)
