Quest Modding / Re: [Tutorial] Create your own quests!
« on: 18 January 2021, 15:36:27 »
Hello again @Bumbleguppy or anyone else who might be able to help. After successfully modding several quests, I've hit a roadblock again. I've spent an entire day trying to figure out why the game isn't reading the last quest I'm working on. Not a fun way to spend a day :(. I should have thought of this sooner but I only recently began suspecting that the reason the game isn't reading my latest quest is that it's the only "Immortal Throne" quest. The game keeps those quests in a different arc file: "Resources/Xpack/quests.qst. instead of Resources/quests.qst. My thought was to create a new directory in the source tab of Art Manager. I've tried source/xpack/quests/quests.qst, source/xpack quests/quests.qst, source/quests/xpack/quests.qst. At this point I'm going out of my mind. Can anyone tell me how "Immortal Throne" quests should be set up in Art Manager? Any other suggestions on why the game isn't reading this particular quest?

As a side note, in my testing, I've seen that the game is reading from my new quest reward skill tree and yet somehow still giving me a reward that has been removed from the tree. What the heck!

Quest Modding / Re: [Tutorial] Create your own quests!

@Bumbleguppy Thanks for responding! After hours of frustration I finally got my first quest to be read. I'd love to share what worked but I'm honestly not one hundred percent sure. One of the actions I was looking for I had put in the wrong place in the file. Also, I had copied my Sources/Quests folder and an unused Token.bin from another mod because for some reason mine didn't have them. So I made my mod new and added the files. Anyway, something worked. Your response helped me to keep plugging away at it!

Hey Bumbleguppy or anyone who can help. I gather from your post that we can edit existing quest files without using the game map. I've been trying to do this and failing. All I'm trying to do is simply change some quest rewards and stuff like that using Quest Editor, but I can't seem to get the game to read my files. If I simply put the originally named, modded quest files into Sources/Quests, create asset, build asset, and build mod, is the modded game supposed to read those files? That's what I've been doing, trying different variations of how I import, when I use the quest editor, etc. to no avail. Anyone know what I might be doing wrong? Thanks for any help!

Modifications / Modding Question
« on: 03 January 2021, 03:46:21 »
Hi. I'm getting back into TQ modding after a long break. Starting with mastery reworks. I'll eventually post details if I make enough progress. I'm trying to figure as much out on my own as I can and doing well, but I'm going to have occasional questions. Hopefully experienced modders don't mind answering.

The first things I'm wondering is if Ragnarok needs to be installed to have a working 10th mastery and if Atlantis needs to be installed to have fully functional mastery bars up to 40 pts and 7th tier skills. I have both but don't always play with them installed.

Thanks in advance!

What a great idea to make a mod to showcase the templates! Thanks, can't wait til I have some time to check it out.

New Projects / Re: Titan Quest - Titanomachy Mod ( Development )

Cool stuff Sauruz! I love when pets' appearances change as they get skill points, especially when it's a surprise. Can't blame you for showing them off though. :)

Thank you @botebote77 and @Prosoro. Just the kind of feedback I'm looking for.
If by throwing knives you mean the thrown weapons
Yes, that's what I meant, thanks.

New Projects / Should I Include Atlantis and/or Ragnarok in Mod?
« on: 19 August 2020, 04:05:47 »
For years I've been tinkering with modding with the intention of creating a specific game play experience for myself and others of like mind. It wouldn't stray far from vanilla but tweaks many things more to my liking. Skills and trees get tweaked and changed. Mages and hybrids become more viable. The challenge of the game gets upped overall but the difficulty spikes and outliers get leveled out a bit. The experience of leveling from the beginning is very important for me and my modding aims to make it consistently fun through each act and for each skill tree. There are numerous ideas that I've implemented in various versions of personal mods and have a pretty clear idea of what I want to accomplish.

One of the things that's halted my progress is the release of Ragnarok and Atlantis. While I never regretted buying them and found it interesting to play through them at least once, I could never bring myself to start planning how to incorporate the acts themselves into my mod. For one thing, I won't have accomplished heroes so adding the acts makes for a really long playthrough from level 1 through legendary, and I like to play all character types. For another, in my opinion, the quality and consistency is just not quite in line with the rest of the game. It seems like it would take a tremendous amount of work to make them so. I keep waiting for patches to make them a bit better but I don't think anything major is going to happen. I'm a numbers guy and pretty good at balancing but a real novice at modding. But to cut out so much content seems extreme. This has been keeping me in limbo.

So I really want to get the opinions of anyone who will share them. When you think of the "perfect" Titan Quest playthrough experience for you, does it include the Ragnarok and/or Atlantis acts? Side question: what about throwing weapons? I'm not a huge fan and always wanted to have wands in my mod. Ultimately I know these things are up to me but sometimes getting other opinions gives me the clarity I need. Thanks for reading and any opinions.

@botebote77 Man you're cruising. You could go all the way! Odd, I've never noticed any bugs in Act 4.

Well it's over folks. Sorry @botebote77, it's just you left. I promise I didn't sabotage myself just cause I wanted to try adding poison. I died in a disappointing, anticlimactic way. After surprising myself by making it all of the way through Act 4, I went down like a chump to the first coral guardian archers and mage that I encountered in Atlantis. Maybe I needed more pierce resistance. I had been cruising through on autopilot up to that point in Atlantis. I'd only played it once before when it first came out and frankly had been kind of bored until right before I died. And then my life drain (heal) didn't go off or something, I don't know. Honestly, Atlantis lag could have been a factor but I can't say for sure. My performance in Atlantis isn't horrible, it's just a little choppy. But thanks for the challenge botebote. That's the furthest I've ever made without dying and it definitely made me play differently.

Here are my final pics:
Spoiler for Hiden:

Nearing the end of Act 4 I started getting the low health warning more than I was comfortable with so I decided I'd better finally pick my second mastery. After much internal debate, I went with rogue even though it doesn't have the best stats for my character (the strength is a waste). But it's very unlikely I'll make it through legendary without dying and I will keep playing the character afterward. So adding poison and maybe even some bleed will fit the theme of my character and the poison debufs will be extremely helpful. I could get these skills without changing my active skills whatsoever, which is what I will do. The problem is...I want them now! >:(

I've been selling absolutely everything that my character can't use but this just dropped. It's just normal version but I'm guessing it's a pretty rare drop?
p.s. If I delete images off of imgur will they be deleted from the forum?

@botebote77 grats on downing epic Typhon! Major accomplishment.

i started atlantis, but the difficulty spike is very noticeable. so after getting the 2nd portal in atlantis, i decided to do act 4 first. act 4 have useful rewards, atlantis have none
I only played through Atlantis with one character but I ended up firmly of the belief that it should be played after act4.
