Long time vanilla guy on Ragnarok needs help!

As the title says, I am vanilla guy but decided to get Ragnarok. Very first time to play with a rune toon. Will be mixed with spirit so shaman, have some questions.

1) Essential skills? What about stones? I'll need transmutation right? Have a plan to play with shield instead of dual btw (cuz always play hardcore 0 death)

2) Att? Dex int right? Cannot see a logic point to go with str route while dealing with ele dmg.

3) Any crucial recommendations?

Ok even tho I don't like act 5, rune is one of the funniest mastery I have ever played, after spirit and earth. Have regrets not to play Ragnarok till now.. but as a hc 0 death player, I find it kinda squishy. Went with int dex route yea I'd prefer tankier toons.. however it's hell of a fun.. dragon hunter, int dex way, throwing weapon + shield and thunder strike is one of the most satisfying skills.. also guardian stones are like standing outsider. I like it so much! It does not scale pet right?

Also what way do I need to go for tankier toon? Would prefer int dex way again tho. Is it possible?
