Title: TitanCraft Mod (WIP)
Post by: nargil66 on 10 November 2019, 04:25:25
This is an old idea of mine - to turn Titan Quest into a crafting/survival RPG. Te mod is in a very early stage, there are lots of things planned... In any case, its better to show you than explain ;)

loving it already
this is the ultimate form of rpg imo, if anyone can add stamina to the game, getting tired after hard labor makes sense... once the stamina is depleted, a character has to rest else running is disabled, mana regen is halved and both offensive and defensive are affected as well. titancraft should be added in EG... forging adds quality to life in TQ

Watched, but don't you think that materials are taking too much space in inventory? Why not to make it smaller like size of relics and charms?

Yes, you have a point, Ill make them like that. I hate cluttered inventory too.
After more testing, i decided to do some major changes to the harvesting system. If every single boar corpse in the game is attackable, this leads to a big problem - character starts to attack it in a middle of a fight while surrounded by other monsters. So i have to return to the original game concept, animal relics to drop on kill. I liked the skinning animation, but its better than to get killed because of something like this. Maybe ill use it for something else.
There is a similar problem with other interactable objecs like trees and rocks. Today i reduced drastically the number of nature objects that can be harvested - you can harvest only trees, shrubs and rocks with small to medium size, also you can't harvest from cluster objects (like a mesh made of 3 bushes at once).
Now its far easier to breathe lol.

Here are some new bitmaps - metals take only 1 square now:

I wanted them to look similar to Soulvizier mod, so i used assets from there. I'll make more this night.

Latest progress - today i recompiled the entire database and resources of the mod, because it was a mess. Now it can easily be merged with EG .
Also made more crafting materials:

The empty ones you see alredy exist, only their bitmaps are not ready.

Today i did some research about the crafting materials. And it was not in vain! Like always, i want things to be close to the myths. Here is a small draft with crafting materials (+ some refining recipes).

Stones & Gems

Coal > Earth Oil > Magnesium
Granite > Epic Granite > Legendary Granite
Sandstone > Epic Sandstone > Legendary Sandstone
Marble > Epic Marble > Legendary Marble

(Normal > Epic > Legendary)
Garnet > Ruby > Flawless Ruby (Red)
Amber > Topaz > Flawless Topaz (Yellow)
Crystal > Diamond > Flawless Diamond (White)
Jade > Emerald >  Flawless Emerald (Green)
Tanzanite > Sapphire > Flawless Sapphire (Blue)
Tourmaline > Amethyst > Flawless Amethyst (Purple)

Metals & Alloys

Normal Weapons/Armor:

Copper - The first metal to be used by man, copper is also the cheapest and the most easy to obtain.

Bronze - Bronze is an alloy of copper and tin, harder and more durable than copper.

Iron - Found in more recent ages, iron outclasses copper and bronze for making weapons, armor, and tools.

Epic Weapons/Armor:

Corinthine - Known also as Corinthian Bronze, this alloy is a mixture between gold, silver and copper, and is rumored to have uncommon properties.

Hepatizon - An even more valuable kind of Corinthian Bronze, Hepatizon is also called Black Brass, for its distinguishable dark-red color.

Starsteel - This rare type of metal is made by iron, mixed with shards from fallen stars and is used to craft various magical items.

Legendary Weapons/Armor:

Orichalcum - According the legend, this copper-like metal was used by the Atlanteans to build impenetrable walls around their cities.

Titanium - A mythical metal alloy, forged by the Titans in their war with the Olympian gods. No other metal, except Adamantine, can compare to its power.

Adamantine - Exceptionally precious and rare, Adamantine is said to be undistructble, and able to harm even a deity.

Normal Jewelry: Copper, Electum, Silver
Epic Jewelry: Electrum, Gold, Platinum
Legendary Jewelry: Palladium, Rhodium, Truesilver

3x Copper Ore = 1x Copper Ingot

3x Gold Ore = 1x Gold Ingot

2x Copper Ore + 1x Tin Ore = 1x Bronze Ingot

2x Copper Ore + 1x Gold Ore = 1x Orichalcum Ingot
2x Iron Ore + 1x Star Shard = Starsteel Ingot
2x Silver Ore + 1x Gold Ore = 1x Electrum Ingot

not if you accept new things and adapt it keeping in mind that changes are inevitable... (thanos kind) ehekz

yeah.. i just mean... it's one thing if it's just changing the maps, changing the items, or changing the masteries.. but this one is like changing the genre

whenever i play new mods, i always bear it in my mind that the game differ from my previous game, I always start with a new character and temporarily forget my previous one, this way I always find excitement in what the mod brought to the game, like a fresh new character about to explore the world, with survival  theme at hand, heck it will be a challenge on how the game should be played, you are right about the genre thing though... but like i said... its always welcome for a change, get rids of boredom from the hack/slash/loot/repeat all over... about time we experience another level of challenges like no other time since we started playing this game.

Thank you for understanding my pain, botebote :D. Yes, after so many years of titanquesting i can barely play, and get bored very easy... But i still love this game... only now prefer adding stuff instead of playing. Today i started writing flavour text for unique items... but ill post about it in another thread.

I adapt to some degree, only not in playing. Perhaps my time as a player is over. But you're right - "a man never gets in the same river twice". I try to just go with the flow in modding, jumping from project to project... it may not be consistent, but its enjoyable and it never leaves me bored.
