Well, I've never seen that before, so it is pretty hard to tell.
I guess every class is viable if built proprely. Do you have pictures of such character or is it just a thought of yours?

Sure, why not? Spamming knives or using throwing weapons or bows, coupled with traps, Psionic Touch or Calculated Strike. Should be viable. Roughed this out:

i actually have a dreamkiller but it's a str/int caster trapper knifethrower.. knives to reduce resists and for CC.. it's close to a ranged char even though it's a caster.. I'm having trouble continuing it not because it's weak but because it's boring to play.. hadn't expected that.. it wouldn't be easy to build because rogue and dream don't have too many synergies but traps and mastermind works well.. i find distort reality to be an important part of my build
and yeah just like WNG said, every class is viable if built properly.. it's all about how you imagine it to be and what items you choose to equip it with
edit: one advantage of mastermind for traps is it increases total damage.. that means you can wear any pet buff jewelry (vit, elem, physical) and it will still get boosted

hey right.. why not an int build archer dreamkiller? golden agris + gambanteinn 100% converted to elemental.. and 25% chance of +200% elemental, if that procs on a 4th hit psionic touch... wew
would be difficult if you start it untwinked.. but if you twink it, i bet traps + 2 eitr would be enough early to mid game

I don't think a bow would be a good option for these two, it is slow, and you do not even have WPS or piercing shots. Spears, throwing weapons should be better. Unless you also plan to tweak it with items granting volley or piercing shots, like Gusir's gifts.

for a str + dex build sure.. but for dex + int, you can't wear shield except santas
edit: and archmages has 40% attack speed
edit 2: right i might actually make an int + dex archer dreamkiller since my dreamkiller is boring to play.. i thought i would never make another character again but i might actually try this.. but I'll go with SBC over archmages, then probably tunic of the magi and Polaris.. gonna search my vault for a good bramblewood

bramblewood + anubis wrath (attack speed completion bonus)

I'm going to asume "ranged" means bow or throwing weapons here, as Throwing Knives are more of a casted skill, and don't work at that well at any actual "range".
I don't see why you wouldn't be able to make a ranged Dreamkiller. However, I do think a lot of the specific skills that make Dream such a strong mastery, lose their value. If I'd make a ranged Dreamkiller, I'd go heavy on pets, and I'd pick Trance of Empathy.
The latter is quite a thing. Players tend to go for either Trance of Wrath or Trance of Convalesence for more defensive requirement, but I don't see why this build would need any energy regeneration buff. It's not a caster, you're not spamming any skill, and pets should not require any significant in-fight expenditure. That taken into consideration, the health conversion of ToE probably results in higher health gain than ToC's health regeneration buff, while ToE's reflection beats ToC's damage absorption

You have to bear in mind that what this class misses most is main attack AoE.
I was thinking PT at first, because it does give at least some AoE, but CS is clearly better. The damage is higher and the 100% chance to pierce results in higher multi target damage.

On the contrary, knives can work very well and have a longer range than throwing weapons. Have a look at Fozzie's Bladeflinger Magician build. Made for IT, but you can get it to spam knives quite easily in AE as well.
