How to upload a mod campaign?
« on: 14 January 2023, 19:10:58 »
I already made a post on Steam about a "Mod Campaign in the Works" in the mod discussion area. And that mod, while completely unfinished, is in a playable state.

Unfortunately, I have no idea how to upload a campaign to the workshop, or an appropriate alternative location, and could not find much information towards uploading said mod.

Right now its sitting in a gmail drive, as that was the only way I could think to get it posted, as its 1.5gb in a zip file.

Any help on how to upload the mod - preferably to the Steam Workshop - would be appreciated.

Thanks for the options!

Out of curiosity, is it even possible to upload to the Steam Workshop anymore?

I'm afraid I don't know.  I know it was broken with one of the earlier updates, but whether it's been fixed or not .....

I've just read your post on Steam and it sounds very interesting. I hope you can release an early alpha in the near future or at least some preview post with pictures.
Regarding Steam uploading of mods, someone recently uploaded latest Bumbleguppy's LoC mod to the workshop, so i guess it's working now. I cant test myself, because my Steam account got hacked.
Another good option is Nexus, its a very hospitable site to modders in my opinion, maybe the second popular to Steam.
Anyway, good luck with your project, and "We will watch your career with great interest." :)

Thank you both for the nice comments! Genuinely makes me feel better about all of this.

I probably will use Steam more often, as I'm more used to it.

I only worry my mod campaign will be a bit disappointing. It plays very differently for base game Titan Quest, and I worry that will be too alienating.

All the "core gameplay" is a bit new, while all the aesthetics and monsters are mostly the same. There are only a handful of new models because uploading anything new was difficult as hades.

And the gameplay itself is, well, quite hard. I have learned to fear some of the monsters. Nothing worse than hearing a bark in the forest and eight fire grenades come at you from off your screen. Goooood times.

I'll try to get some pictures for the next post...

Also, some images, since you asked:

A map of Annalatia:
Spoiler for Hiden:

Some images of the Citadel of Amalakata, the starting nexus:

Some of the locations you can go to:

Avaranata Riverbank:

Csysys Salt Fields:
Spoiler for Hiden:
Hamlet of Madgya:
Spoiler for Hiden:
Rhamanys Caverns:
Spoiler for Hiden:

Some of the (more humanoid) monsters you'll fight:

And lastly, one of my favorite weapons/skills I made, the flamethrower (And to note, it is continuous fire as long as you hold it down):
Spoiler for Hiden:

I think any more images and it'd be too much, but these are the highlights in my opinion. I hope they're interesting!

These pics look very promising! This could be the next Lilith mod with unique setting.

I think you shoudn't worry about making something unfamilliar and unique. There are way too many mods based on the vanilla map and experience, some fresh air is always welcome.
About the mod being hard, it's even better, it brings more challenge. I had an idea before to make something like a survival mod for TQ, sadly i'm not very consistent in such projects.
You've certainly put a lot of effort in your mod, keep it up!

Well thank you for the kind words!

If this goes anywhere, I'll probably set up a discord so people can talk about it.

When I get a chance I'll upload it to Nexus mods and make a follow up post on Steam to try and bring traffic there, and the potential discord server.

Hopefully its a wonderful experience for everyone. I've had fun making it and playing it, and there's so much more to do. I'm looking forward to all it can bring.

Yes, I wouldn't worry about it being more difficult.  The devs added the curses option to the game so players could make the vanilla game more difficult if they wanted to and quite a few people play with those.  So do what you want to do with your mod and then let the players enjoy it.   :)

Discord is a good idea, if you can manage many comments and people, most modders orient to it. You can get direct feedback from players, which is priceless.
Btw, is there a lore behing the new world you've created? If there is (i assume so) maybe write some introduction to the world so new players get more familiar with it. Another way could be including lore parchments that drop in-game, smilar to the vanilla easter eggs. Just an idea.

I think the difficulty is pretty fair and balanced, though I've been imbibed in it for a long while. I'm used to getting shot at from off screen sometimes...

As for lore. Uhm. Too much. Way too much. I've had years to develop it and I maaaaay have overdone it. But a simple introduction would be pretty good, I think.

There is a lot of lore and history to take from, and I already have several notes/diaries you can get from chests around the map, which tell you about some of the people.

I'll probably try to upload the mod today. I was busy yesterday and having some technical issues, but I made some art for the workshop page, and once I get passed a few issues it should be all nice and dandy.

Update: The Mod is now public on the Steam Workshop! How wonderful. It's "Titan Quest: Arris"

If you all want, I'll upload it to Nexus soon enough.

Gratz on release!
I'll try to test as soon it comes to Nexus, i think its a good idea to upload there for GoG users.
Also, maybe you can open a new thread for your mod.
Good luck!
