Quests / Re: Primrose Passage Secret Quest
« on: 11 February 2018, 02:54:31 »
I haven't done this quest, so I'll describe it from my memory of reading about this:
- speak to the NPC near the theather in Delphi
- grab 3 Spell Pieces from:
1. new cave near the Jade Palace portal
2. Cave of Apollo in Elysium (both caves of Apollo and Artemis have some levers?)
3. small chest after the Korynth in a place when two theather actors stands (only in legendary difficulty?)
- grab the recipe envelope from new room in one of the dungeons (sun/moon key treasure room?) near the Grey Sisters location (need their eye to open the wall passage)
- speak again with the NPC in Delphi to gain access to the theather and grab the Primrose key from there (I think)
- it opens the Primrose Passage in act 5 in Deep Forest location

The whole passage resembling the secret passage from act 4 (in case of many bosses and loot)

Oh, and the location in this passage is called The Temple of the Hidden Sun.

Of course it's possible that I missed/was wrong about something, so feel free to correct me.
Partially correct, partially wrong, also missed something.
I won't tell you more of it.  O0

Uh...as far as I know (I have completed the quest and go into the passage myself), you don't need to interact with the NPC somewhere in A1 or something in Legandary Corinth. The guy in A1 will only give you the HINTS on how to find the items. But if you are careful (and smart) enough, you can find them without hints. Well...one of these is a bit difficult if you don't have any hints, but yeah I think finally you can figure it out.
And you can complete this quest (actually not a quest, no quest log or quest reward) in NORMAL.

For those who found the hints but cannot understand them, here's my hints. Hopefully this will help you to better understand. SPOILER ALERT!
Spoiler for 'How to read the hints':
One parchment records the places to found piece 1&2, and the methods to open the locked doors of piece 3&4. The places to find piece 3&4 are recorded seperately on the other two parchments.

Runemaster AE / Re: Rune Mastery Test Observations
« on: 19 January 2018, 03:09:51 »
one more observation.. based on piercing conversion being multiplicative and not additive

http://titanquest.wikia.com/wiki/Blade_Honing

also because if you get transmutation to 99%, then add another elemental conversion from an item, and the DPS shows slight increase in damage.. i have good reason to believe that elemental conversion is multiplicative and not additive

meaning one can get elemental conversion to 99.xxxx% but never really 100%

it also explains why SilentMeteor in this thread gets increase in DPS when he's seemingly stacking over 100% elemental conversion
Hello I am SilentMeteor.
Blade Honing does not grant pierce ratio, it grants +X% pierce ratio. It's just like physical damage and +X% physical damage and they are literally two stats. So I guess that's not a good example on how elemental conversion works.
I have tested pre-1.50, 1.50 and 1.51, all results shows that the conversion rate can exceed 100%. This is not just qualitative result but quantitative. I will test again on 1.52 and release full formula of elemental conversion dps calculation.

General Discussion / Re: Am I unlucky, or are unique drops weird?

More importantly, I've seen items with affixes they were not supposed to have.
Herculean does appear on sword although they are very rare, so Herculean Liuyedao is OK.
And yes, all dlc items, drop only, both MI and regular items, may have affixes that are not supposed to have in IT and AE. I don't know whether this is intentionally or bug, so I raised this question on steam. Until now devs have not replied to this and it has been a lot of patches and the situation is unchaged. So I guess devs choose to stay with the current affixes table, regardless of their initial ideas.

The author of TQDatabase already clearified that currently the drop rate is for SINGLE item drop. But apparently boss chests drop a lot of items, maybe 10-20. So the actual drop rate is much higher than the current numbers on the website.

Not quite sure what "for single drop" means in this context, can you clarify or link the post? thanks.
Here's the quote from author. You can find these on the main page of TQDatabase.

*A note on Loot Tables
The percentages might seem very low. I will expand on the information and functionality in the future. For now it will help to know that for chest loot, the chance listed is the chance of any ONE item that falls out, to be the item that is listed. Obviously boss chests drop a lot more than just one item. These numbers will still give you a good indication of what boss has the highest chance to give you the item you're looking for!

General Discussion / Re: Lesser artifacts are much more rare...?

The drop rate are not "better" at higher difficulty or later Acts. They simply drop higher tier items (not necessarily better items), and the total drop rate does not increase, or at least not significant enough to notice.
“Wouldn't that mean you have to excessively farm Normal”
Yes. The drop rate for most recipe, as well as most blue/purple items, are Act-based. For example, if one item has highest drop rate at Epic Typhon, in most cases, it will also have very high drop rates at other Epic A3 bosses (Typhon belong to Act 3 although now it sits in Act 4); and reduced (imo around 1/3) drop rates at Epic A4 bosses. Other than Epic A3 and A4, the drop rate for that item would be extremely low. There are some exceptions, for example the Battlemage set seem to drop both in Epic A3-A4 and Legendary A3-A4.
So if you are looking for ragnarok recipe, the first priority are all Act5 bosses of corresponding difficulty, and the second priority are Act1 bosses of next difficulty.

Actually I was thinking about Spirit + Rune/Hunting to better utilize thrown weapon, not Diviner. Rune provide dual wield, some passives and thunder strike; hunting provides attack speed, puncture and DA. The range of necrosis is not a big problem since the range for thrown weapon are already short.

Neith's Will might be the best thrown weapon for Spirit + X mastery. This is pure theorotical since I haven't tested any vitality thrown weapon build yet.
There are 3 or 4 vitality damage legendary thrown weapon, but Neith's Will are the best among them with highest base vitality damage, high resistances and other stuff, with lowest str and dex requirement.
And regarding the drop rate, some legendaries are designed to have much higher drop rate than others. Since I also get multiple Neith's Will and Ladon's Maw in my recent playthrough, I guess they do belong to the highest drop rate tier, just like Battlemage Set.

Just some tips. I thought I posted similar reply several days ago but maybe I didn't.  ;)
Eitr or Primal Magna are not necessary to make knifethrower Magician to work. You can use two rings with Volcanic as prefix. I have completed Legendary A3-A5 with this build, the speed to clear minions are satisfying (much better than Flame Surge), and you have good survivability with proper control on CD. Boss fights require some strategy, but that is mainly because Earth + Rogue provide no direct skill to reduce damage taken when the character OT, not because the damage is not sufficient. Stone form is a thing but I can't do anything other than Eruption so the damage output would still be lowered anyway. However Magician also have traps, some bosses don't even need your own damage to get killed. For example, Fafnir. With traps+CD, you don't need any pets items to kill him safe and fast. Some resistance reduction items would help, like Fingerbone of Boreas.
Knifethrower Sorcerer is one of the two solid knifethrower builds in IT. Back in IT, the core items for Sorcerer other than 0CD and casting speed, are two rings with Arctic as prefix, and Ethereal Veil. Tracker's Hood provided base lightning damage in IT so it is also a good part of the build. Now with Eitr, Arctic ring and Ethereal Veil become optional, but still useful. I can imagine the monstrous damage output with Eitr and proper gearing, although I haven't tested it yet.
What's more, with all the changes in AE, all knifethrower builds can even choose X% attack damage to health and XX energy leech over Y sec without sacrificing damge too much, since we have more flexible item choices.
