Expansion difficulty for a new toon?

So after reinstalling TQ and getting Ragnarok I realized that even with that 1 million gold you get, the equipment is just ok, and no matter how you build it your toon will just die in 3 hits once you try to fight.
Any tips or should I restart from 0 and try to get purples?

i think start at lv 40, might be hard in the beging, duo of armors and weapons you get from merchants arent that great.

You need kite alot if you are melee toon our grind a bit before 1st booss.

I'm sorry for the question, but how I start a new caracter at lvl 40?
I have to complete first the game?
I just download it from Steam (I bought both TQAE and Ragnarok and I still have the originals game + IT in my room) but if I want a new caracter I have only options to put name, choose male or female and the color of tunic.

Your screen should look like this if the expansion is installed.



Ticket the Accomplished Hero box and your toon will start at L40.

just came on board. Mine starts out like any except there is a new mastery called Runes.
Plays like regular TQ. I'm only at level 3 so haven't picked a new master since i have added Ragnaok.
I do have other toons I had started with anniversary edition

trying out the rune magic, but it seems you need 3 stats, still not sure which are the most important, anyone who has more info it is good to share :)

Also just started a Runemaster, but stil trying to decide which way to go with it.  Like Dream it seems to be a bit of a hybrid giving you str/dex/int/health, but no energy.  So can't decide whether to go with a pure caster type or maybe give Defense or Rogue a go as the second mastery.  :-\
